Big Bash League: Mitch Marsh hurt in Perth Scorchers clash v Sydney Sixers
Big Bash League: Mitch Marsh hurt in Perth Scorchers clash v Sydney Sixers
Perth will be sweating on the fitness of Mitch Marsh after the powerful allrounder suffered a suspected hamstring injury while batting against Sydney Sixers at Marvel Stadium. The T20 World Cup hero clutched at his left hip area a few times and looked a little ginger late in his 21-ball innings of 28. He failed to take the field for Perth in the second innings, as the Scorchers attempt to win…

Thunder & Scorchers make Women's BBL semis

England captain Heather Knight top-scored for Sydney Thunder in the group stage with 403 runs
Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers have joined Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash semi-finals on the final day of group games.
Thunder face defending champions Brisbane Heat after a six-wicket victory over Hobart Hurricanes.
The Scorchers edge into the knockout stage to play Stars despite a three-run loss to Adelaide Strikers.
It was at the expense of Sydney Sixers who finished level on points with Perth but with an inferior net run-rate.
Brisbane and Melbourne had already comfortably qualified for the semi-finals prior to the last round of fixtures.
Six England players could feature in the semi-finals with all-rounder Nat Sciver and fast bowler Katherine Brunt for the Stars, spinner Sarah Glenn and wicketkeeper Amy Jones for the Scorchers and all-rounder Heather Knight and opening bat Tammy Beaumont for Thunder.
Sciver, 28, who has 18 wickets in the Twenty20 competition so far, says a “change in personnel” has been the difference for the table-topping Stars this season, after they failed to make the play-offs in 2019.
“A lot of experience has been added with myself, Katherine and Meg [Lanning] so the experience we have in the WBBL and international teams has been really important, ” Sciver told BBC World Service.
“Tournament cricket is never easy and we managed to get ion a role and make sure winning became a habit for us.”
The bowler, who also contributed 194 runs with a highest score of 36 in the group stages, will face former side Perth in the semi-finals.

Big Bash League 2019-20: Sydney Sixers end 7-year wait for title after Melbourne Stars implode in final
New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/big-bash-league-2019-20-sydney-sixers-end-7-year-wait-for-title-after-melbourne-stars-implode-in-final/
Big Bash League 2019-20: Sydney Sixers end 7-year wait for title after Melbourne Stars implode in final
Sydney Sixers ended their 7-year-long wait for the Big Bash League (BBL) title after thrashing Melbourne Stars in a rain-affected final at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Sydney Sixers have also become only the 2nd team after 3-time champions Perth Scorchers to win the BBL title more than once. On the other hand, it was the 2nd straight BBL final defeat for Melbourne Stars after their 13-run loss to cross-town rivals Renegades last year.
In a one-sided, truncated final, Sydney Sixers thrashed Melbourne Stars by 19 runs after posting an above par 116 in 12 overs.
After a major rain threat in Sydney, the rain gods paved way for some cricket as the final was reduced to a 12-over-a-side contest. Melbourne Stars won the toss and sent the home team into bat.

Sydney Sixers did not have a great start as they lost opener James Vince for 2 as early as the 3rd over. However, Josh Phillipe stuck in and played a match-winning knock.
Hitting 3 sixes and 4 boundaries, wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Philippe smashed 52 from just 29 balls. Philippe added a crucial stand with Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith who hit a 12-ball 21 before throwing his wicket away to Glenn Maxwell.
Captain Moises Henriques (7) and Daniel Hughes (0) made their way back in quick succession and it looked like the Stars would keep the Sixers to less than 100 but a quickfire 27 (15 balls) from Jordan Silk propelled the hosts to 116 in 12 overs.
Glenn Maxwell shone with the ball for the Melbourne Stars, picking up 2 wickets in his 2-over spell but he failed with the bat when his team needed him the most.
Melbourne Stars imploded in a horrific fashion as the scoreboard pressure did them in.
Marcus Stonis, who finished the season as the runaway top-scorer with 695 runs, failed to step up when it mattered the most. After hitting Nathan Lyon for a boundary in the 1st over, he fell to the off-spinner as early as the 1st over.
Nic Maddinson did not trouble the scorers at all as Josh Hazlewood, Lyon and Steve O’Keefe jolted the Melbourne Stars with early wickets.
O’Keefe got the big fish as he trapped Glenn Maxwell LBW for just 5 runs. Peter Handscomb perished under pressure as he was run out inside the 1st 5 overs.
Despite Nick Larkin hitting a 26-ball 38, the Stars were never able to recover from the early jolts and managed just 97 on the board in 12 overs.

This Weekend on Freebetalerts: Premier League, cricket, racing and more

This Weekend on Freebetalerts: Premier League, cricket, racing and more Please share.
It’s getting cold outside but things are definitely warming up on the sporting front this weekend, with the return of the Premier League, horse racing around the UK and Ireland, and the Big Bash down under. “Paul Nicholls has runners at Kempton and Warwick, so read his thoughts when they go live at 5pm on Friday. Olly Murphy also sends runners to Warwick on Saturday, while across the Irish sea, Gordon Elliott’s focus is at Fairyhouse and Punchestown.”
This weekend the Premier League returns, which means we can stop pretending to be interested in watching Premier League reserve teams against lower league clubs, and get back to the real business of this fascinating season. Last week, Manchester City narrowed the gap between themselves and Liverpool, but this weekend it’s the turn of Tottenham, the title race’s overlooked protagonists, who can make a real statement when they host Manchester United in the weekend’s big game on Sunday (make sure you check out Michael Cox’s tactical analysis of the match when it goes live on Saturday). Prior to that, there are seven Saturday fixtures, including five 3pm kick-offs, and a tea-time clash between Chelsea and Newcastle, in which our tipster Jack Lang reckons the visitors can frustrate the hosts. A lot of the focus in the cricketing world at the moment is on the short form of the game (see below), but there are plenty of fans who are relishing the current Test series between South Africa and Pakistan. The hosts are two up with one to play and are hoping to make it a white wash in Johannesburg this weekend. The visitors will have other ideas but do they have the strength to resist South Africa’s pacey attack? Read our cricket tipster Ed Hawkins’ thoughts on the match and find out why he believes that, for bettors, the value lies with a certain Pakistan bowler. It’s big weekend for the Big Bash, especially on Sunday when there are three matches taking place at the Australian tournament. Admittedly, the first two of that trio involve early starts for viewers in the UK, but the third Perth Scorchers v Sydney Sixers get underway at the very reasonable time of 10:35 GMT. Mind you, this is proving to be such a compelling competition that it might be worth setting the alarm clock to catch the earlier action. We’ll have betting previews of each fixture on our dedicated Big Bash blog. We won’t pretend this is the most exciting time of year for horse racing, although actually if you can pick a winner then one race is arguably as good as another. Picking winners is what Tony Calvin excels at and, in his popular Saturday racing tips dispatch, he makes the case for a long odds runner at in the 14:40 at Kempton. Betfair Ambassador Paul Nicholls has runners at Kempton and Warwick, so read his thoughts on them when they go live at 5pm on Friday. Olly Murphy also sends runners to Warwick on Saturday, while across the Irish sea, Gordon Elliott’s focus is at Fairyhouse and Punchestown across the weekend.
