Some time ago, some people from the Pandya country came here. They wanted me to help them wreak vengeance on the royal family which had betrayed my aunt. It was then that I heard my aunt's story. My blood began to boil and I decided to join them. Later, I came to know how my aunt felt about all this. . . . Then I abandoned the idea of joining hands with the Pandya group. As you said my aunt's love is really divine. But mark my words, I won't be like her. If any Prince tries to deceive me I'll take revenge. I'll kill him. I'll also kill the woman who steals him from me. Then I'll stab myself and die.
• Vanathi joins Buddha monastery for real.
Vanathi went on: "Yes! I've decided to become a Buddhist sanyasini. Why do you object to that? Weren't there many women in ancient Tamil Nadu who became ascetics? Did not Madhavi's daughter, Manimekalail, become an ascetic and attain divinity and don't we praise her now as the Goddess Manimekalai? I have no such aspirations. I tried to end my useless life, but failed in the attempt. Perhaps it is God's wish that I live a little longer. I want to join a Buddhist monastery and spend my time serving people. You won't refuse to help me, will you?"
Let's wait, he thought, until my older brother returns. We can find out about him then and do whatever is best. A warrior like him should be inducted into our private bodyguard. Even a portion of his ancestral kingdom could be given back to him. Helping boys like this will bind them to us and ensure their loyalty. But if he's proved an enemy, we'll have to make other plans. Let's wait for my brother, anyway. We’ll see.
• Poonkuzhali fakes her death and runs away from the palace.
The court politics and the never ending scheming are so tiring and infuriating. She doesn't like Senthan as much as thought and Emperor Senthan is the most eligible married man in the country. She runs away, to embrace the waves once again.
• Manimegalai thinks 'ponal pogattum poda' (let it go) and starts to manage the affairs of Sambuvarayar clan when Kandan Maran is away on border patrol.
She is totally embarassed about her emotional outburst about a man who doesn't like her, that too to the woman he actually loves.
• Parthipendra Pallavan and Manimegalai decide to get married out of spite and plot the end of Vanthiyathevan and Kundavai.
Yeah, I made that up. I am crazy.
If anyone writes anything, please tag me so that my evil heart can rejoice 😏
Senthan Amuthan is the example of how to correctly react when getting rejected by the love of your life:
Step 1: double check that decision is final politely
Step 2: accept that decision is final and move on, focusing on God and being a good devotee is a good alternative
Step 3: be happy for them when they achieve happiness
Step 4: be the angel on their shoulder trying to keep them from causing a diplomatic incident (which is much harder than it looks when you are in love with Poonguzhali)
A/N: here's the much awaited sequel. @harinishivaa had lots of fun working on this with you 😊
Arulmozhi was completely starstruck to silence. He could not believe what he was seeing. As the flute started playing, he could see his Akka Kundavai coming in with some little girls holding her hands out of the corner of his eye but that was not what captivated him. His Vanathi looking feather in pink sari, pink turban with a peacock father tucked in it and flower garland around her neck, every aspect reflecting Lord Krishna was descending, yes, actually descending to the floor, being suspended by makeshift cloth ropes with some of her companions helping her by supporting her weight. Kundavai came to the podium and greeted her Patti by touching her feet. She sneaked a glance at her Thambi before taking her seat on the other side Sembayin Madevi and suppressed a laugh when she saw him staring at her Uyir Thozi with gaping mouth. The girls started singing and arranging themselves into their positions with Vanathi in the middle impersonating Krishna with her hands in the mudra of a flute. Then Vanathi started singing.

Arulmozhi was already impressed by her dance skills and how she was moving her body to the tune so effortlessly while enjoying herself, he wasn't prepared to hear her sing. What a sweet voice! How was he deprived of hearing her sing for so long?

She was thoroughly enjoying herself, enacting the words she sang. And he was enjoying himself, in her voice, her expressions and her mannerisms. Then she was back again in mid-air, the cloth ropes around her and being pulled up by her companions. Part of him was worried about her moving her body while she was suspended like that - what if she falls? What if she loses her balance? But another part of him was smiling at how lovely her Maya Kannan persona is.

This was his Vanathi? The seemingly shy and quiet Kodumbalur Kula Vilakku? The girl dancing in front of him was so confident, so talented, so immersed in her own performance. Just then his Patti, touched his shoulder and pointed towards Senthan Amudhan who just arrived. He gave a small smile and folded his hands to acknowledge him but in his mind, he was a bit annoyed. Why are people arriving in the middle of the performance and disrupting him from watching his dear?

He briefly looked at his Akka and saw her smiling at her Uyir Thozi's performance and looking around, probably for her Vana Kula Ilavarase. Oh right! He is the Kamsa Mama who would be dancing with Vanathi. Is it too late for him to gatecrash this spectacle and dance with her instead of Vallavaraiyan? Maybe not, maybe he should content himself with watching her.
Just then there was a howl and he looked on as Vanathi and the other dancers turned back to face the entry of some men, covered in black paint from head to toe and wearing black clothes, representing the Kamsa Mama's men. And with them, Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyathevan, also covered in black paint and black clothes with red adornments announced his arrival with his part of the song

He expected nothing less from his friend. He knew Vanthiyathevan to be a fierceless warrior, versatile traveller, incredible charmer and a loyal friend. It was now clear to him that the Vana Kula Ilavarase was also a extremely good performer. He once again looked at his Akka, who was staring at the newly arrived performer with amusement. He inwardly thanked his Aditha Anna for introducing this multi-talented man into their lives. But it was now time to refocus on his heroine again.

Vanthiyathevan easily stole the show with his eccentricity. And he also stole almost all of the audience's attention. He noticed how his Patti was viewing his friend with admiration and his Akka simply gazing at him. But Vanthiyathevan failed to capture everyone's attention as Arulmozhi refused to let Vanathi out of his sight.

He saw Vanathi stand on the steps, hands on her hips with a small amusing smile on her lips. Occasionally she sneaked a look at Kundavai as if to say "Aren't you seeing your lover overacting Akka?". But at the same time he couldn't imagine Vanathi dancing so comfortably with anyone else. Forget dancing, he couldn't even imagine her being so natural around anyone else other than Kundavai and Vanthiyar. 'These two should have been blood siblings ' he thought looking at the Maya Kannan and Kamsa Mama roleplayers on stage as Vanathi started singing the next part.

Two small girls from the group pushed Vallavaraiyan to the side where his fellow raakshasa men were waiting to catch him. He again watched Vanathi sing, her body moving to the tune of the song and her facial expressions mirroring the meaning behind the lyrics. He also noticed Vanthiyathevan look in their direction with a grin but he knew who was the recipient of that grin. He saw Kundavai smile softly at Kamsa Mama, Amudhan seated near her looking at the pair in mild curiosity.

He wondered if he could make eye contact with Vanathi too. But she seemed to be deep in her role barely noticing the audience now and focused on her performance.

He sat up straighter and continued to look at Vanathi, silently asking her to look at his direction just once, and, as if by some miracle he saw her eyes meet his own with a playful smile playing on her lips just for while because Kamsa Mama suddenly stood up, now wearing a mask and circling around Maya Kannan and the Gopis in mid-air, with the help of the cloth ropes just like how Vanathi did in the beginning of the song.
Thom Thadak Thom Thadak
Thom Thom Thom Tha Thom Tha
Thom Tha Thakida Thin Thin Thom…
A different beat started playing and with it the performance also started to get a bit aggressive. Vanthiyathevan and Vanathi started dancing on opposite sides facing each other. They were mirroring some dance moves and at one point Vanathi lifted one of legs and swiped it over Vanthiyathevan's head, him ducking in time. Arulmozhi gaped once more. When did they have time to practise all this? And what coordination! They embodied their respective roles perfectly, taunting and challenging each other. And after a while, both of them were again in mid-air with the Gopis and Rakshasa men in charge of keeping them airborne by pulling on the ropes and moving about. They were now enacting the Krishna-Kamsa fight.
"Is that even safe?" Arulmozhi asked, breaking the silence "That looks dangerous. I'm concerned for her". He didn't notice his Patti looking at him with raised eyebrows.
"She? So you're not even a little concerned for Vanthiyar?" Kundavai asked from the other side.
"He has survived worse. He'll be fine" Arulmozhi said and Kundavai let out a gasp as if in disbelief of her Thambi's utter disregard for his Nanban.
"Kanne" Sembiyan Madevi interjected " Vanathi is stronger than you give her credit for and she has done sufficient practise with those ropes so she'll be fine. You don't have to worry about her "
"I wasn't worried. I was just curious, "Arulmozhi said, attempting to look disinterested.lo
"Your facial expressions and your words are not at all matching, Thambi " Kundavai mocked him before Madevi quietened the two to watch the final part of the performance.
Now, Maya Kannan and Kamsa Mama was circling with their hands intertwined, showing a wrestling action and then Kamsa lies flat and is slowly lowered to the ground with Kanna acting as if beating on his chest to show the Kamsa Vadh and the inner message of 'good will always triumph over evil'.
The performance came to an end and the players all gathered on the stage with Vanathi and Vanthiyathevan in the centre. They folded their hands and thanked everyone for their patience and received a very loud round of applause and a standing ovation, even from the royal family.
Arulmozhi still couldn't tear his eyes off Vanathi who was basking in all the appreciation - a new side of Vanathi that he only managed to see now - an energetic and full of surprises Vanathi.
*****
Vanathi hummed to herself in excitement.
The dance had gone very well, and she had gained a lot of appreciation from everyone, including Sembiyan Patti once more, as well as both the Emperor and empress.
She had seen Ponniyin Selvar watching her quite a few times, directly glancing at her, and she had blushed every time their eyes met. It had gotten to the extent that she had just turned into a ripe, red tomato. The smirk on his ethereal face told her that he was pleased that she had such a reaction to him.
Did this mean that he liked her?
‘Pochu, you’ve started daydreaming, Vanathi!’ She chided herself, removing her turban with the peacock feather, the rest of her hair cascading down her back in curls, an effect of all the work she and her friends had put to perfect the hair style for the dance.
She blinked at herself in the mirror for a second, before starting to remove her jewelry, when she heard footsteps behind her, entering cautiously.
“I was wondering when you would get here, Akka,” she said, focused on her jewelry. “You never take so much time to come and see me after I perform.”
When Kundavai Akka didn’t respond, Vanathi knew that she was waiting for Vanathi to continue.
“Sembiyan Patti told me she was so proud of me, Akka! You know how much I adore her. As well as Chakravarthy Appa and Vanama Amma,” she said, intricately removing her intertwined necklaces laid on the table. “But Akka… do you know… what your thambi thought?”
“Why don’t you ask him yourself?”
That wasn’t… Akka! Oh Ishvari!
She looked at the mirror, seeing Ponniyin Selvar’s twinkling eyes gazing at her, in all her open hair, less jewels glory. She blushed red, but could not bear to not look at him.
She smiled, her coral red lips bright, and said, “Ilavarase, thaangala? (Ilavarase, you here?)”
“Maya Kannanai paarka vandhen (I came to see Maya Kannan). I didn’t expect to find the same mischievous damsel I met by the banks of the Ponni,” his eyes sparkled, as if reflecting her heart’s delight.
“I didn’t expect my yaanai paagan, ayya,” she blushed when she said ‘my’ but didn’t try to correct herself. Something told her that she could open her heart and tell him what she wanted to. In that very moment, she felt that he would reciprocate.
“Your Yaanai Paagan has been waiting for you, my lady. Will you accompany me for a ride later this evening?” He whispered, holding something behind him, making her curious.
“I will,” she said shyly, gasping when he brought out freshly strung jasmine for her. She looked at them, blushing again, saying, “Thevare?”
Calling him the equal of Deva made her blush red and look down for a minute, before looking back up at him. She gently took the flowers he offered her.
“Wear them, Devi. They suit you,” with a smile that would charm anyone, he left, allowing Vanathi to mull in the surprise, the best one she had gotten.
****
Well, she had been wrong.
This was an even better surprise. She was still wearing something similar to what she wore for the dance, letting it fall around her. However, she had a shawl draped over her, as is actual protocol for royal women.
Her Prince approached her, seated on an elephant, the bare back of the animal letting her know that she had guessed him right. She smiled as he stretched out a hand to her.
Gently taking his hand, she got on, blushing and eyes widening at the sparks that ran through her arm, at the contact between them.
“Thevare.”
“Devi,” he whispered, his eyes taking in the beautiful princess like he hadn’t seen her before. He looked particularly pleased when he saw her hair decorated with the Jasmine he had given. “Devi, hold on to me. We are just going to a place I think you would really like.”
“Secrets of Thanjai?” she asked softly, delicately wrapping her arms around his waist, her head leaning against his shoulder, one of his hands holding both her linked palms gently.
“Secrets of Arulmozhi,” he said softly, directing the elephant to the place of this mind.
She relaxed, enjoying being around him, holding on to him and going on the elephant ride. He had given her everything in this single moment- she was as ready for the end of her life now than ever before.
They went on the elephant, reaching a clearing where the sound of water could be clearly heard.
“Devi,” he smiled, gently patting the elephant down, his touch more than enough for the animal to obey.
“Where are we, Thevare?” she asked softly, her eyes glowing in wonder, reflecting the Sun’s light in them, sending his heart into somersaults, ones he welcomed whole heartedly. Oh how she had changed him without trying to!
Was this not love? Pushing your partner to be their best self?
“A place I found when I was a child, one that even Anna and Akka have never come to with me,” he held her hand still, taking her through the trees, reaching the clearing. Her gasp, followed by delightful laughter filled him with joy, and a sense of right. She was that rightness in his life.
“Thevare, this is beautiful. How did I get lucky enough to be brought here?”
“I promised myself, Vanathi, that I will bring only the woman I wish to marry, the one I want to eke out my life with, here,” he smiled softly, feeling his hope blossom into surety at the glow in her dark orbs.
“Thevare?” she questioned softly, not stopping gazing at him.
“Devi, you have filled my life with meaning that I scarcely knew and understood before,” he said, walking towards her and grasping her palms in his.”You have stood with me, and not lost faith in me, loved me through my miscommunication and idiocy. In truth, I do not deserve you, anbe, but it is only you I want. Will you accept this fool in love, Kodumbalur Kula Vilakke? As your husband?”
“Swami,” she whispered, her palms hesitant at first, firm soon, caressing his cheeks. He closed his eyes, wanting to feel her touch. She held him gently, whispering, “Swami, open your eyes?”
He obediently opened his eyes, only his training preventing the sound of a gasp leaving him. Her eyes were luminous with her love, so open and joyous for him to see, that he wondered how he ever missed it before.
“To be yours is the reason I have been born, Natha,” she whispered softly, tipping her forehead to his, making him smile and wind his arms around her waist, tugging her close into his embrace.
“And I have been made to marry you, Vanathi. I love you.”
“I love you, Thevare,” he smiled at the rosy hue that darkened on her cheeks, not moving away from her for even a second. He held her even closer, pressing his forehead to hers a little more.
Everything could wait, he thought, as they moved closer and closer to each other, intertwined, as if they had become one.
And they had, that day, with his words of promise and love, and her words of acceptance and love.
The traditional dosai dates back at least two millennia, being documented in ancient literature and passed down through the generations, with the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka both claiming it as their own. In his book The Story of Our Food, food historian K T Achaya says that King Someshwara III (who ruled parts of the present-day Karnataka state) mentions dosai as dosaka” in the 12th-Century Sanskrit literary work Manasollasa. However, ancestors of the dosai such as mell adai (a pancake made of lentils and rice) and appam (a rice pancake soaked in coconut milk) were being consumed in the Tamil region much earlier.
“Appam and mell adai do find a mention in Madhuraikanchi, a Sangam age literary work from the 3rd or 4th Century,” said Jayakumar S, a researcher of South Indian history and founder of Courtyard Tours. “But, the actual term “dosai” seems to have been added much later into the lexicon.” He further explained that Senthan Divakaram, an ancient Tamil lexicon (some ascribe it to the 10th Century) attributes dosai to one of the varieties of appam that’s often eaten with the coconut milk on the side. Despite any debate over who owns the dosai, chefs from the Udupi region in Karnataka were credited with the crispy version we know now somewhere in the 19th Century. Until then, the dosai was more of a soft, fluffy and lacy crepe.

Hello there! Lucky here. I'm usually a silent viewer of yours, but I've been meaning to ask you this ever since I watched the Ponniyin Selvan trailer (hence the reason I rooted out my dead Tumblr), would you think about writing fic for it? I honestly don't mind whether it's about the novel or the upcoming movie.
I'm asking because I've been rereading the novels in anticipation of the movie (probably not the best idea whilst I have cardiovascular exams coming up next week), and I'm getting swamped in a tidal wave of nostalgia and FEELINGS. I've been thinking of writing fic for it as well, and it would be lovely if I could have other writer friends in the fandom!
I also just saw your Yuletide post, and I feel bad because I don't think I'll sign up for it this year (too many other exchanges and exams going on) but I can definitely write fic for/with you out of the exchange, if you're interested. I would personally recommend maybe adding Poonguzhali and Senthan Amudhan to your character noms, because they're my favourites and I love them. As far as I know, Poonguzhali does turn up in the movie (based on what I saw in the trailer), and if she does, I hope Amudhan gets a good appearance as well. Apart from that, maybe Azhwarkkadiyan or one of the Pazhuvettaraiyars? It really depends on what kind of fic you'd like to see!
[I just really need a fellow Kalki nerd and Tamil enthusiast :((]
Hi! *waves happily* Yes, I am absolutely looking forward to writing fic once it releases and also am looking forward to wanting more friends/fic!
(I mean, this is assuming it's not terrible, but given the source material, they're actually going to have to try to mess it up.)
Yes, absolutely Poonguzhali needs to be added--I assumed at first she wouldn't really have much of a role, but then she showed up in the trailer and it looks like her song is featured. And Amudhan too, though I don't think he got his own character poster, so I'm not sure how much room he's getting. But then it also looks like they're increasing Vanathi's presence (if my suspicion that "Rakshasa Maamaney" is combining the dance performance at Kundavai's palace and the separate Janmashtami play in the novel is right), so it's such a hard decision--one of the best things about the book is that honestly pretty much any of the characters could fuel fic by themselves.
(I'm so glad you'll be writing stuff too! I look forward to reading it:)
“That’s great. Why don’t we all try to lure the Prince? Whatever Vanathi is trying to do we will also do - I mean the game of seduction. I think we can do better than that timid girl. We don’t lack anything.”
There are a bunch of princesses in Kundavai's retuine who were sent to Pazhayarai in the hopes that Adithan or at least Arulmozhi would marry them. Even if neither marry them, they will acquire life-skills necessary for a noble woman, a reputation as the friend of Kundavai and become valuable commodities in the marriage market.
When we meet them, they have become extremely toxic versions of themselves, competing like dogs fighting for a single piece of meat. Kundavai finds them worthless after grooming them and they are left to become her sidekicks in her singing , dancing and most importantly, the training of the future Empress and Dowager Vanathi.
Vanathi joined Kundavai's gang only a year before the story begins and her 'good character' has convinced Kundavai that she is the best match for Arulmozhi. How come Vanathi is good-natured while her own protégés are greedy and manipulative? She wasn't brought up in this toxic situation because she was staying with her widowed father who was really fond of her.
Later, we meet Sambuvarayar's daughter Manimekalai who too doesnt care about marriage alliances. Sambuvarayar got some crooked ideas about her marriage around the time of that midnight meeting, but she was brought up with great affection in Kadambur itself and was all set to marry a landless warrior before her family got different plans.
Though she wasn't brought up in a royal palace, knowing about Sundara Cholan's treatment of her aunt made Poonkuzhali very bitter. After that, she had to deal with Kundavai's patronising attitude concealed as magnanimity and see the prince being friendly and growing close to Vanathi. Her goading prompted Vanathi to declare that she won't hold official positions, which sealed the deal.
These women lost out in the game of appearing effortless. If you want something subjective and uncertain, you are supposed to behave like you don't want it and don't care about it but will ace it anyway. Otherwise, you will be considered a miserable try hard. I am sure many people experience such rejections even now.
Fictional stories about the 'chosen one' (PS too can be included in this category) have played a great role in propogating the myth of effortless efficiency. Imagine everyone telling you that a particular thing is the purpose of your existence, working hard to achieve that and then learning that someone else achieved it because they are 'effortless' , 'destined', 'chosen' and you were 'too desperate'.
Perhaps the training given by Kundavai was lacking. Older and experienced ladies like Sembiyan Madevi and Vanamadevi were occupied with other concerns. After all, she too is a young lady who is clueless about the matters of heart. Buddha's wife Yashodhara made her husband who mastered all the senses come all the way to her room even after his renunciation by refusing to go to him.
What would have happened to the girls like Niravathi, Tharaka, Varini, Mandakini (not that Mandu), and Senthiru ? Arulmozhi or Senthan would have married some of them and they'd have recieved the 'consolation prize'. Others would have married vassal princes like Kandan Maran. Eventually most of them would have sent their daughters to the capital again, continuing this vicious cycle.

At the age of 14 he joined a travelling music troupe headed by his oldest brother and spent a decade perming throughout South India. Throughout his musical career, he’s worked as a session guitarist, keyboardist, and organist for film music composers and directors.
Hope you enjoy the show...see below for the track list & videos taken from the Kollywood/Bollywood films!
A.R. Rahman (who was working in Ilaiyaraaja's troupe) handled the synthesiser for this soundtrack. Punnagai Mannan was one of the earliest Tamil films to use a sequencer. The film revolves around a dance instructor whose student falls in love with him.

12. Love Theme On Computer (from PUNNAGAI MANNAN, 1986) -Ilaiyaraaja
Arulmozhi felt his breath stop as soon as he heard the frantic words of Senthan Amudhan. Not caring about his weakness, his legs turned on his own as he barrelled down the stairs towards the river.
Vanathi's innocent and joyous smiled filled in his vision. His gentle Vanathi, who could not hurt even a fly. The thevarams she had sent him always ever so secretly; the letters which he never replied, started ringing in his mind.
"Ilavarasae!!" He heard a female voice cry out but before anyone could stop him, he dove into the water.
He needed to save her, he needed to save his Vanathi.
.
Vanathi felt herself going down and down in the deep waters as the sunlight reflected the water blue. She saw various plants which can only grow in water gently flowing with water. turning around, she noticed a little goldfish opening and closing its mouth, taking in the oxygen to stay alive.
Smiling sadly, she inhaled and opened her mouth, the water gushing into her lungs and nostrils and it made her choke, The oxygen supply was cut which made her surrounding blurry and she felt losing consciousness.
'Finally, I will be with you, Amma and Appa.'
.
Arulmozhi frantically searched for Vanathi in the water. Whipping his head to other side, he saw something yellow lying. He immediately turned and swam towards it, realising it was Vanathi. His eyes burned with tears when he saw the same small and gentle smile. He picked her limp body in his muscular arms and jumped, swimming towards the surface.
"Paah!!" Gasping heavily for the air, he pulled her body with him and walked out hurriedly, dropping down when Kundhavai and others ran towards them.
"Vanathi! Vanathi!" He tapped her cold cheeks while she laid limp in his arms, her gentle smile etched on her face. "Open your eyes Vanathi! Akka!!" He cried desperately when she didn't opened her eyes.
Senthan hurriedly sat down and picked her arm up, checking her pulse. "Ilavarasae, she is alive. The water has entered her body and we must immediately take her to Choodamani Viharam for treatment. Or else.."
Arulmozhi turned to Poonguzhali whose heart fell seeing tears in his eyes. "Poonguzhali!! The vessel provided by Bikshus is large. Can we all come in it?" He asked her.
"Y-Yes Ilavarasae." Poonguzhali replied and that was all he needed to know before standing up with her in his arms. Vandiyadevan stepped ahead but Kundhavai held his hand, shaking her head. Looking at Arulmozhi Varman, he smiled and they all soon hurried towards the Choodamani Viharam in the vessel.
"Ammani, thankfully you came at right time. The water had engulfed the Devi's lungs, and she would have lost her life." Bikshu's words passed a shiver down his spine as his eyes were trained upon Vanathi. Vanathi on the other hand gently laid on the bed, unaware of the storm that was brewing in someone's heart.
"Ayya, will she be fine?" Kundhavai asked.
"She will be fine Ammani. She will take time to gain consciousness." The Bikshu said and left.

Arulmozhi stared at the soft and baby face of Vanathi with a gentle, nostalgic smile. He remembered the time she had first met him, crying because of the helpless chicks who will die either by the hands of a cat and by falling down the tree. Not seeing any other option, he had brought a elephant and picked up the cat from one branch to other, and also secured the bird's nest. And for that, she had called him "Yaanai Paaga".
A chuckle left his mouth and he frowned when he remembered how he acted with after after knowing she was Kodumbalur Princess. His misinterpretation of her was fuelled by Periya Velar who insistently wanted her and him to marry, and he had thought that she too wished to sit on throne, that was all until she had heard Vanathi and her Akka arguing.
"Vanathi, we are not having that discussion once again. You can't just give away any rights of you!"
"Akka, I do not care. I have told you a thousand times that I do not desire to sit on Chozha throne. I never did." Vanathi had said and Arulmozhi concluded that this conversation was tiring her out.
"But I do! I wish to marry you to my Thambi."
"But does your Thambi wants that?"
He wondered if everything he thought about her was a misconception? That she was different than he thought? His eyes kept trained on her sleeping figure as all the thoughts reeled in his mind. With a sigh, he leaned near her and whispered, "Be ready to answer me when you wake up."
It wasn't long before the bright stars started twinkling in the sky. He was talking with Vandiyadevan when a reluctant Poonguzhali had told him that Ilaiyapiratti seeked his presence as Vanathi had woken up. Arulmozhi immediately got up and strode towards her room with urgency with Vandiyadevan and Poonguzhali in his tow, only to see Vanathi weakly talking with Kundhavai.
Kundhavai noticed his presence. "Thambi! See, this foolish girl has finally woken up." Kundhavai said and turned to Vanathi. "Don't you ever do that again, hmm? You almost took my life with you!"
'And mine too.' he wanted to say but didn't.
"Akka," Kundhavai hummed at her brother turning towards him. "Would you mind if I exchange a few words with her? In privacy." He asked and smiling internally, Kundhavai nodded before standing up and regally strolling out, taking Vandiyadevan, Senthan and Poonguzhali with her.
Arulmozhi sat beside Vanathi's half sleeping figure, and looked at her to which she turned her head away. Gently grabbing her by her chin he turned her face towards him, taking her by surprise.
How dare they arrest Senthan Amuthan ?!!! He is a cinnamon roll who can do no harm!
(Also the doctor’s son clearly had no idea of how lucky he is to have gotten out when he did while insulting Poonguzhali in front of Senthan Amuthan…our poor boy was actually talking about murder! (And rightly so!))
But at least we get some witty banter between him and Kundavai so I am semi-appeased
