miss merms..,, when u have a writing project that feels too big to start, how do u know where to begin? 🥹 over and over i've tried to strip this wip to its bare bones, but i always think too much abt the little things i want to include to flesh out character motivations and plot..., it's paralyzing 😭

start without the bones hanging over you!! easier said than done, i know, but it sounds like it’s stressing you out too much—just biff ‘em!!! boof!!!! put them in a seperate doc or a secret drawer in your mind and don’t look at them again and start from the beginning!!! you only really need like, idk, three things to start a story—a couple of characters, the place they’re standing in and something they want. all the other stuff that’s paralysing you—fleshing out the motivations and the plot and the fandangles—that can come later, after you establish your beginning. maybe something even better will unfold as you go. 🥺 it’s hard, but if it’s not doing it’s job of holding your hand then let go—you’ll be better off taking those few steps by yourself. You’ll be more surer as you move along, and then you’ll have enough steady ground underneath you to wield what you have saved in the back of your mind or your docs and make yourself a kite and run. ⛅️🪁📖
