Jo was just finishing up locking the grill up for the night when the power cut. Slightly alarmed, she straightened slowly and looked around. Being that there was no one else in the building, the young hunter assumed it must have been an outage. That was until she went outside anyway.
The dark night sky was full of what would appear to the average person as thick, and dark billowing clouds of a smoke like substance. They swivelled and turned in a way that made Jo’s stomach twist. She was one of the few in the town that knew what they were really dealing with; demons.
She only remained frozen for a moment before taking off, running down the streets of Mystic Falls, searching for anyone who may be in trouble. Her bag bounced against her hip while her feet pounded the pavement, and Jo tried hopelessly to call anyone else who may know what had cause the sudden outbreak. Her fingers crushed the buttons on her cell phone, only to find that there was no service. It was then she realized just how many people in the small town she did care about. Swearing under her breath, she kept moving.
Much to her confusion, Jo found most of the streets completely empty. Not a cry to be heard, or a drop of blood to have hit the pavement. Stopping to catch her breath, the young girl looked in all directions. Surely she couldn’t have imagined anything, this had to be happening. While she tried to come to terms with just what she was hoping to resolve, she heard a blood curdling scream.
She didn’t waste a second running towards the sound. Throwing herself over a chain link fence and ignoring the pain that ripped through her obviously torn open thigh, she continued until she came to where the scream had originated. Her voice echoed down the street as she shouted, “Where are you? I can help!”
