“You think you’re funny?” (from Rosaline)

From time to time there was always one the near constant stream of initiates he brought in to get looked over that decided to get smart with it. This one seemed to think that they were clever enough to joke with the nurse that was busy patching him up. Before could say something, Rosaline did and then his sharp, steely gaze bored into the initiate in question. His expression remained as unreadable as ever apart from the hardness that lingered on his features. Eventually he speaks, warning rolling off his tongue with rumbling thunder clinging to his tongue. “Think carefully before you answer that.” To hit his point home and ensure that they knew that he wasn’t the only threat there, he continued. “She can just as easily make it worse and I won’t stop her.” For once the initiate seemed to have some sense and quick apology and soon enough they were done. As he stood he gave the strawberry blonde a nod of acknowledgement before stern gaze turned back to the younger man. “Say thank you to Nurse Peake.”

Arianne couldn’t put her finger quite on why, but she could not stand Dacey Mormont. Whatever had happened between them to cause such animosity was too long ago for her to truly remember, but there had to have been something. Still, regardless of her personal feelings, she didn’t have it in her for a fight at the moment. Not in the way she might have previously looked for. Not when she was trying to ask for something. “Dacey,” she said, granting the other woman a curt nod. “I need a favour.”

While most of the dynamics in his life all served some sort of purpose, there was the odd one that slipped through the cracks and into the territory of something more genuine. His friendship with Dacey Mormont was something of an anomaly - one struck up from genuine fondness rather than him feeling as though he could gain something from being close to her. It was a friendship he’d sought to preserve over the years, resisting the urge to upset their delicate balance with mafia talk and instead focusing on their jobs and families. If anyone understood the trials and tribulations of being an older sibling it was her and he’d always been thankful for that shared experience as well as the levelheaded view she tended to have on the world. Insight was always valuable to him but hers was undeniable one he treasured most.

His new responsibilities seemed to never end and as much as he was enjoying them, they had made him late something he was always loathed to be. There was a power that came to being their first, in the other person knowing that you’d had to wait for them. Usually he’d have cared about the subtle shift in the dynamic but with Dacey he truly didn’t mind. Instead he just greeted her with a grin before light but apologetic words were given. “I see you started without me. Sorry I’m late. I’ll get the next. How have you been?”

Dacey being the eldest definitely left her with a maternal feeling over all her little sisters. 👶 - As a kid, what were they like?

He always wanted more, despite his father almost always giving him everything he wanted. A little bit too much like the mother he barely knew, nothing was ever good enough for him. He’d play happily with a new toy for half an hour or so, briefly satisfied with it before his attention would turn to something else. Demands were common from him and while he didn’t tend to throw tantrums it was usually only because Roland got him what he wanted before that could happen.
