So, we got new flooring put in part of the house. And in moving furniture, it looks like we scratched the floor. This is deeply upsetting my mom.
I understand that it's new and was expensive and she wants it to look new and expensive a while longer, and that scratches significantly affect her enjoyment of the new space.
What I don't understand is why, if scratches are something she cares about, we didn't get something harder to scratch? Why not tile, or soft linoleum that doesn't really mark, or solid-color hardwood that we can rub with oil to make scratches disappear? What is a floor for besides moving things across? If we're moving something fragile, I want to worry about the fragile thing? I don't want to have to be careful with the floor, you know?
#this is just something of a pattern#she buys fragile things for high-wear use and then is suprised and upset when they get worn and used#I don't.... get it#mine#family stuff#this may sound uncompassionate. I don't know. we have problems because she thinks other people are responsible for fixing her feelings#so when she's upset she takes it out on me. and I want her to just not feel that way if she can't process it on her own#when she gets herself into stressful situations. at this point. I'm just like well why did you do that. I'm not responsible for fixing this#when you chose to do something you couldn't do without help. and didn't ask for help beforehand
