Oh oh, another Hanh/Kenny ask!

97. How do they wake their S/O up? Is it difficult to rouse them? 

Mmm I think out of the two, Kenny’s the heavier sleeper. Hanh would probably try and wake him up in the least disruptive way possible: shaking his arm lightly, nudging him, and repeating “hey, hey wake up, sleepyhead” and other pet names. If he’s sleeping SUPER soundly, she’ll just lean in super close until he stirs awake and he gets a face full of fisheye lens action ALJFDSHKVLJ it’s the funniest thing to them and they both laugh about it. The laughing usually wakes him up after that. 

While Hanh falls asleep easily, it’s just as easy to wake her up. If Kenny’s the one to wake up before her, he doesn’t have the heart to tell her to wake up. He’ll get out of bed as quietly as he can and go about his business. If it’s been too long though, he takes the long, guilty, walk back to their bed to wake her up. Usually with a light shake and some comforting words, just like she does. 

59. Is there a spot they tend to kiss or caress habitual?

For Hanh, she loves giving kenny cheek kisses! It’s short, cute, and sweet. She also loves kissing any scar that Kenny might have that didn’t manage to disappear in his many deaths. I also mentioned this in the other ask, but Hanh fidgets a lot and makes circles in Kenny’s hand with her thumb. 

For Kenny, also cheek kisses! And also just regular old kisses on the lips. Sometimes he’ll lean in and rest his head in the crook of her neck. He also likes holding her cheeks and pinching them. 

28. Do they trust one another? Are comfortable discussing their fears with one another?

Oof ok this is a rough one for them. BUCKLE UP, CAUSE THIS IS A LONG ONE!

I think something that would be an issue between the two of them is that Kenny can sometimes get a bit overly protective and controlling. Have you seen the way he acts towards Karen in the Casa Bonita DLC? Or the way he literally built a TIME MACHINE to fix the broship? He has no say or agency when it comes to both his eldritch curse and his dysfunctional home life. But the moment he gets any opportunity at control, he fights tooth and nail for it (WHICH BTW THANKS FOR MANTEQUILLAMCWHOREMICK/HELIOLETI when he showed me this analysis my mind was literally blown, so shout out to him). So yea, the guy defo grows up with control issues. Also, have you seen him in the show??? :( poor guy's always being sidelined, forgotten, or abandoned: when Kyle's about to die and Stan cries over him but not Kenny's death; when he gets outcasted by his friends because he can't a scooter with them for Halloween; not to mention, the fact that NO ONE believes his curse. It wouldn't be a surprise that Kenny feels the need that he has to keep everything to himself, especially when he takes on a caretaker role with Karen. That boy is gonna have a rough time ever showing vulnerability. So, for her own good, he never likes to divulge or dump his problems onto Hanh, especially when he sees how stressed out she gets from the AP classes she takes.

On the flipside, before they even date, Hanh is always trying to get Kenny to open up: asking about his day, how he's feeling, if life at home is good, how Karen is doing, etc. But all he ever responds with is a smile that never quite reaches his eyes. She's always walking the line between wanting him to open up about his problems, but also not wanting to push him to say something he's not comfortable talking about. It's especially hard, because she knows exactly what it's like to be the "therapist" friend, considering how much she's constantly cleaning up after people. Even after the M4 have their "breakup" (in my AU there's a moment where the guys stop being friends), her and Kenny are kind of the "divorced" children of the aftermath, so it made her think that they could at least bond from that, fucked up as it is. But again, there's still that distance that Kenny puts between the two of them, thinking he knows what's best for her.

However, Hanh has a lot of insecurities regarding being seen as inferior to people, stemming from a lot of things but i feel like that one needs its own post jalsfhklj, youd probably need to ask me for more details about that. Kenny never means for it to come off as if he doesn't trust her (which he does trust her, I mean seeing as she's saved their asses countless of times), but Hanh doesn't like that Kenny feels as though he has to hide his issues out of fear that she wouldn't get it. She wants her best friend to be able to rely on her and confide in her, and closing himself off from her robs her from that agency. Hanh's a bit of a hypocrite though, because she does the exact same to Kenny: she's always afraid of complaining or venting to Kenny, because to her, her problems seem inconsequential compared to what Kenny has to go through.

TL;DR, they've got a lot of learning to do, LOL. But they'll get there!!

After some plot and character development, I think he would tell her about his curse, which after some convincing (aka asking something that only he would know if he did die), she does believe him. You could chalk it up to her being naive and gullible, but Kenny doesn't care. It's something he's eternally grateful for.

And while I don't think Hanh would have as much blind loyalty that she does with Kyle, she knows that Kenny is capable. At most, if Kenny's telling her something insane or ask for a huge favor, there'd be a bit of hesitance, but at the end of the day she trusts him.

I've always loved Cecil, the Mauler Twins, Allen, and Rex the most!! They're morally dubious characters (save for Allen) but god they're so fun skhdf I'm always entertained whenever the Mauler Twins, Allen, and Rex are on screen, and god Cecil is just so cool. I love my morally gray king.

I also remember liking Rudy/Robot when S1 came out, but I kind of like him less now that he has his human form. Hm not too sure why, I just feel like he's kind of lost a bit of the charm and badassness that he had in S1, at least from what I can remember.

[3] What emotion is the hardest for them to deal with?

Probably sadness. She hates being belittled, and unfortunately, crying makes it hard for her to be taken seriously. She doesn't like feeling like a "girl" for crying (which btw: nothing wrong with being a girl or crying, they just have a complicated relationship with their gender and internal misogyny that they'll eventually figure out. I'd get more into it, but that's a long one, lol. It's a story for another day). Being in friend groups that mostly comprise of boys makes her feel like she has something to prove, and crying makes her feel like it's proof of her weakness.

Anger is a close second, but because of how little she gets genuinely angry, people at least take her a little more seriously when she's mad.

[42] What is their idea of a perfect friendly hangout and/or romantic date?

Both for friendly hangouts and romantic date, she just likes spending time with the people she loves! Even if it's something as mundane doing laundry and taking a walk in the park. Of course, she does love the occasional grand gesture, but if all you need is each other's company to keep yourselves entertained, then that's more important than any grand gesture. She loves talking and being able to talk to someone who's just as passionate and responsive as she is, bonus points if you have a good sense of humor. She does love playing video games and watching movies, though! If it's something nerdy, she's more than likely going to be down.

[49] Do they possess any unexpected skill or knowledge that surprises others, and otherwise, what is something anyone would assume they know or can do, but in fact they don’t?

Since Hanh usually looks distracted and is kind of an airhead, people assume that when they're having conversations around her, she's not really listening (especially since she's always seen wearing headphones). So, imagine their surprise when she brings up their birthday when they don't remember ever mentioning the date to her.

While the distracted part is true, she's got a pretty good sense of observation when it comes to the things people say and do. Because she usually sticks to the background and has a very unassuming presence, people don't notice her much or even realize when she's eavesdropping.

It's not something she does consciously either. She probably picked up the habit from all of her years being around the M4 and being dragged into situations that turn on a dime, so she's used to always being vigilant. Being around troublemaking, thrill-seeking, immature boys will do that to you.

People also assume that Hanh is naturally gifted at studying since her grades usually range from a B+ to an A-, with the occasional A+ sprinkled in. However, it's actually really hard for her to focus when it comes to studying. They even fall asleep in class when the semester gets rough, so it's even harder to take notes and study. Pair that with a need to prove yourself and academic guilt: you've got a recipe for disaster. She often ends up comparing herself to her other classmates like Kyle, Wendy, and even Bebe in terms of grades. She constantly feels like she can't measure up to them and is always feeling like she's playing catch up. It's something she really struggles with internally.

Though something that does surprise people is that Hanh is surprisingly really persistent and really good at researching.

She brings a sort of "wet cat" kind of energy to the function. It's charming, in a way. But because she comes off as kind of wimpy, people expect her to be pretty passive and not really assertive, which is true for the most part. However, no matter how much she complains or how much it seems like she's about to give up, she'll more than likely go through with whatever she's doing all the way. Also, if there's one thing she hates, it's being told she isn't capable of doing something, so most of her persistence comes from spite. Again, years of being around the M4 will do that to you. You kind of have to be built different to handle that bunch.

As for the other skill: over the years, she's developed a knack for researching and just obsessively researches a topic she's interested in for the fun of it. It started when she was young and would read encyclopedias and look at encyclopedic illustrations for fun (nerd). Then, it turned into surfing on the internet. Over time, she just became experienced at knowing how to find information, citing sources, finding peer-reviewed articles, etc. She's the kind of person you'd want as your partner in a group project lol (which sadly has led to most of her teammates dumping all of work and responsibility on her).

Oh wow, there’s a bunch of worms crawling around everywhere. Hey what’s with the empty can?

Sdkfjla goodness there is so much I could talk about in regards to Hanh’s dynamic in relation to the M4 and the stuff they do together,,, im not sure if you meant the m4 individually or them as a whole, but for the sake of time (and your sanity) ill keep it to just the m4 as a whole! (If you meant her dynamic with each of them, feel free to shoot me another ask! I love an excuse to yap about their dynamics sjkdsj)

So Hanh kind of serves the role that Tweek had when he was an honorary member of the group. Re: "Free Hat" (season 6 ep 9) and "The Simpsons Already Did It (season 6 ep 7) where Tweek basically was at the whims of the boys' shenanigans and had to be the one to pay the price and clean up their messes. It's something I really enjoyed from the show and I really wish they'd done more with that dynamic, seeing as now Tweek's kind of always in the bg with Craig's gang. So, instead, I stole it! LMAO

Hanh basically ended up bonding with these assholes (poor sap) and decided they were gonna be her friends (save for cartman). Sadly, that means that whenever she unwillingly gets dragged into any of their hijinks, usually she ends up being the one to bail them out of whatever hole they dug themselves into and clean up after them. Just the concept of the one stressed out person trying to desperately keep a group alive lives rent free in my head. I mention it a bit here too where if even Kyle ends up faltering in his moral compass and rationale, she'd be their last line of defense.

Hanh's certainly not stupid, but she is a bit naive, especially when it involves her friends. Her unending loyalty makes it easy for her to manipulated and deceived by Cartman, especially if he tricks her into thinking it's to help the other three in some way. She often lets her emotions get the best of her and that's usually how she keeps ending up falling for his schemes.

When they're NOT spiking her blood pressure though, she still tags along in whatever activity they do: board games, garage band sessions, video games, walking around town, whatever! She just likes spending time with them. She especially likes playing video games. If it's something like Minecraft, then she's the one gathering all of the materials, making OP farms and building pretty houses. Competitive shooters are fun for her too. Basically, any kind of multiplayer game! When they get older, her and Kyle also hold group study sessions to make sure everyone's keeping up.

So yea, that's the girl!! Lmk if you wanna know more, I will literally take any excuse NOT to shut up about her SKFDLJLHJA THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS AND FOR THE ASK!!! mmmmwah

Which canon character respects your OC most? What gained that respect?

LORE TIME !!! (sorry this took a while to answer too, i've still got the school debuff </3)

going to once again preemptively cut because i ALSO expect this one to be a long one. Also, just a heads up that while I try to be canon-compliant as much possible, a lot of the lore for this AU I have with my oc has some canon rewritten to better fit with my vision of the story/make for better character dynamics !

So I don't think there's necessarily one single character that respects Hanh the most. If I really had to try and narrow it down, it would probably be Kyle. I talk about it more in detail in here but to make a long story short (oh uh let's hope I don't turn like those people in the zipline episode), they're both very responsible, have strong moral compasses, and they're both basically the "moms" of the group. Hanh would specifically be kind of the "last line of defense" and voice of reason if even Kyle ends up falling victim to the whims of South Park shenanigans.

Though in a more general case, there are two events that caused Hanh to gain respect from most of the kids at school.

The first one was when Hanh first moved to South Park and was considered the New Kid. In typical new kid in South Park fashion, she'd probably gain a little bit of attention seeing as no one ever moves there (I'm imagining this takes place before the town becomes super gentrified and a lot of people start moving in). But other than the usual whispers and gossip, nothing really out of the ordinary happens, and life goes on. That is until the M4 get an idea (wuh oh).

Something, something, Cartman finds out that Hanh is Vietnamese (and not actually Chinese) and decides to formulate a plan where they use Hanh to help write their Vietnam War paper (this is actually entirely based Season 2 episode 6, the one where the M4 ask Ned and Jimbo about their experience in the Vietnam War).

So, once again, in typical South Park fashion, the boys go to pester and bother her about questions on the Vietnam War. To which, y'know, the 9 year old has no clue how to answer because she was born in the US and knows nothing about the war, lol.

For the most part, she just politely tells them she doesn't know anything. This of course completely infuriates Cartman, maybe he even goes on to believe it's some kind of conspiracy by the Chinese to stop them from getting an easy A on their report.

It all culminates into one boiling point where Cartman goes to confront her in the middle of the school yard. He starts throwing accusations and racist remarks while Hanh just kind of. Stands there. Not really knowing what to do. Stan and Kenny kind of stand just as awkwardly as her, while Kyle's yelling at Cartman for him to stop.

Up until Cartman decides to grab part of Hanh's hair and pulls on it. For a second, time slows down, and a little voice in the form of her mom rings in Hanh's head: "If anyone ever tries to bother you at this new school, you need to defend yourself. And if that means punching someone, you do it. What do you think we enrolled you in all of those karate classes for?"

And so, she does. She punches Cartman square in the face, practically instinctively, and he stumbles back. A thin line of blood starts streaming down his nose, staining the pristine snow underneath his feet, and Hanh's just about to shit her pants.

She runs off, utterly terrified at what kind of trouble she's going to get into, while the boys and anyone who had the fortune of seeing the scene unfold laugh at Cartman for getting his ass handed to him by a girl. For the rest of the day, Hanh just actively avoids the M4 as much as she could, thinking they're going to beat her up for punching one of their friends. So imagine how funny it is when they finally catch up to her and tell her "Dude, anyone who punches Cartman is cool in our books." To which she responds with "ISN'T HE YOUR FRIEND???"

So yea! It's both the catalyst for Hanh's friendship with the M4 and how she gained their respect (save for maybe Cartman).

The second event is also pretty similar to the first one, which is also based on another episode! Specifically, Season 8 Episode 10, the one with Trent Boyett.

In this one, instead of going to Shelley for protection against Trent Boyett, they go to Hanh (much to Cartman's dismay) because they remember an offhanded comment she made about taking martial arts classes and being a red belt. They were initially going to go ask Shelley first, before remembering she'd probably kill them anyway after protecting them from Trent.

When they come to her begging and pleading to Hanh, she's initially completely against the idea. She's especially appalled at Kyle, considering he's usually the one to take the moral high ground. Though, after a lot of convincing and tearful sobs, she finally concedes, only on the condition that they would own up to their mistake to everyone and give a heartfelt apology to Trent Boyett (in this universe they'd still get Trent sent to juvie, but probably not due to burning Ms. Claridge). Though, before they get the chance to agree to her terms, lo and behold: Trent Boyett shows up.

With nowhere left to go, the M4 hide behind Hanh, which Trent Boyett makes a comment on how of course they'd be cowardly enough to hide behind someone again instead of owning up to their mistake. Hanh (once again, shitting her pants) would try to reason with Trent by telling him the guys have changed and are willing to apologize and make up for everything they did. There's a moment of hesitation from him as he sees Hanh put her arms up, almost as if to shield her friends. But he dismisses this and just goes straight for them.

She uses herself to basically block Trent's way, following his every movement. After a bit of back and forth, he tries to push past her but she just pushes back, until he finally has enough and he just goes for it and beelines to them. This causes him to suffer the same fate as Cartman: with her fist connecting with his teeth. If she wasn't pissing herself before, she certainly is now, LOL

Everyone's reeling back from the shock and realization that Hanh's just punched the meanest, nastiest, cruelest kid in school (and also praying for her soul to rest in peace because only God can help her now), and there's a thick silence in the air. Mr. Mackey thankfully comes in before anything further happens, and seeing Trent Boyett at the scene already makes him think the worst. Mackey starts his spiel on how "fighting's bad, m'kay" and is about to take Trent away to presumably give him another suspension. Before he could do anything though, Hanh speaks up and takes the blame for starting the fight. Pretty much everyone is shocked, especially Trent (and also the M4 because if Hanh gets suspended over this, who's going to protect them now???). She goes on to recount what happened (albeit with a very shaky voice), and explains that she's the one who landed the first punch. Hesitantly, Mackey explains that she would likely have to face some kind of punishment, and maybe even suspension if this turns out to be true. She just nods.

But to everyone's surprise, Trent sighs butts in, retracting Hanh's statement by admitting to Mackey that he was in fact the one that started the fight, and that Hanh's just trying to cover for him. She tries to convince him that this isn't something he needs to do, but he just shrugs and says that "a few days of suspension isn't going to kill me."

Before he gets taken away, however, he turns to the M4 to give them a piece of advice: “You’re lucky you’ve got a good friend. I have no idea why someone like her would hang out with the likes of you, but right now it’s the only thing stopping from beating you guys to a bloody pulp right here and now, so take my advice: don’t fuck this up.” 

(she later gave them a good smack to the head to each boy for putting her in this heart-attack inducing situation)

And that's how Hanh managed to not only gain the respect of Trent Boyett, but also scare pretty much anyone (even her own friends) who ever thought about crossing her!

There's a lot of details and dialogue I omitted from the second part since I was worried I wouldn't be able to convey my thoughts well in writing. I've actually been wanting to make a mini-comic of this scenario someday!! so hopefully once the semester's over and I have some time i can finally put it to paper <3

what brushes do you use on procreate ((if you use it)) and how do you get your lines so smooth ?? :0

Im dabbling in digital drawing but it’s still kind of a struggle for me shshs so if you have any tips I’d love to know ‼️‼️ also your art is amazing again 💪😫

Oh my first brush question!!

So I mainly use this brush called the "Funny Haha Brush." It's completely free on gumroad, but you can tip the artist if you'd like!

It's my go-to brush for both sketching and inking! Inking with it is really fun, and when I sketch with it, I lower the opacity all the way down. I like the sort of "crunchy" look it has and the texture it gives me! Though if you're looking for something cleaner, like a G-Pen, maybe this isn't the one skfdhlj. Try it out and see if you like it though!

Though in terms of getting better line quality, im afraid to say that just comes with practice 😭 im getting flashbacks to when i was younger and i'd ask artists i looked up to how they got so good, and they'd just respond with "practice"... SO IM NOT GONNA DO THAT AND INSTEAD YAP ABOUT IT

So the thing about getting smooth lines is that you have to be confident with your strokes: big, quick and broad lines. For example, chicken scratching is a habit I see a lot of younger artists do (not to say this is something you do! just something I've observed).

This is something you'll just naturally get better with over time as you become more confident with your lines, but a good exercise you can do to see improvements quickly is practicing drawing shapes like ovals, circles, parallel lines in quick succession and as cleanly as you can (and in the case of the parallel lines, making them as parallel to each other as you can). Ex:

What this does is you're essentially developing your motor skills to create cleaner lines, and training your muscle memory. Speed isn't the key here, it's more about precision! But you'll naturally get faster over time. Another good exercise that I also learned is where you create two random dots, and try to make a line connecting the two dots and make it as straight and clean as possible! I like to do "ghost" strokes where I plan how the line's going to move before I commit to paper.

Honestly these are just a couple of the exercises ive learned and picked up on over the years, but even I don't do them myself SJLFHKDJL which something I really slack on. But this is definitely for if you want to see results in your improvement faster!! And also, these are also great for warming up before you start drawing.

I totally get the digital art struggle ;; it was SUCH a learning curve for me, going from predominantly traditional to digital. Honestly, the most important tip I could give you is to just draw and have fun! There was a point where I didn't draw (apart from very small homework doodles) for 3-4 years, and in that time I never tried going out of my comfort zone out of fear that it would bad. And even after I started art school, I still wasn't able to draw at the level I thought I would be at. The gap between my perceived skill vs my ACTUAL skill was so big, I kept getting tripped up and being upset about it. The fear of failure was so strong, that I was more comfortable not trying at all. In fact, it wasn't until July that I started seeing improvements in my art!! Just a couple of months ago, I couldn't draw guys for the life of me, and now all I ever draw is south park boys sfljhjl. I'm still not entirely satisfied with how my art looks, but I'm much comfortable and happy with my art now than I ever have been in the last 7 years (holy shit its been 7 years).

So, TL;DR,

1. Line exercises are your friend!

And 2. Have fun! Find your muse, and just keep drawing that!! Find ways to insert your muse in everything!! DRAW TO YOUR HYPERFIXATION'S CONTENT!!

how did you get into south park ?? i love asking people this question because everyone’s story is unique in this department i find haha (ALSO I LOVE YOUR ART AND ALL OF IT AAAAAAAAA)

so i first discovered the existence of south park back in 2016 when this youtuber i watched (kubz scouts) played tsot, which was also quickly followed by him playing tfbw. I think this was my first exposure to south park as a whole?

At the time i had no concept of how influential south park truly was. My only frame of reference were the two games. Like i didn't know high king elf kyle was the human kite, didn't know princess kenny was mysterion, etc. Hell I didn't even know who the base main characters were, which is to say Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny. To me they were all separate from each other. The only one I would recognize from both games was Cartman, and, well, I don't think that one needs explaining LOL. Even arguably the most famous gag from south park, which is kenny dying, I had no idea about.

Over time id find out that south park was a show that had been running for a long time and that it was offensive. Oh, and that it had a lot of yaoi fanart lol. But other than that, i never actively tried to learn more about it. I didnt really know how to navigate the internet/fandom in 2016 nor did i really have the urge to look more into it. Though a year ago, I do remember watching a couple of essay videos and summary videos about south park that I'd play in the background from Johnny 2 Cellos and Blooms, but again, i didnt really actively seek out more of it.

Now fast forward to August 2024 to when i ACTUALLY got into south park. So there's this youtuber I watch called RTGame who released two supercut video of him playing the entirety of TSOT and TFBW, and it was SO MUCH FUN to watch. I always did enjoy it the first time when i watched it in 2016, but now that im not 12 years old i actually get to enjoy all the jokes that i missed LOL

Because of that video, i started getting recommended south park clips and even more south park related video essays, which made me really curious to see what the fanart and fandom was like now that's "mellowed" out. And thats where it all started. I was just so blown away by how good the art was, and just how fun and creative everyone's take on the characters were???? i just kept scrolling, and scrolling, eventually caved and started watched the episodes, and since then it's snowballed from there. And now here we are!! 6 months in and still going strong <3333 it's honestly genuinely shocking to me that I got into south park. This was one of the last fandoms i ever expected myself getting into and FOR THIS LONG. by far the strongest hyperfixation ive had ever.

12. What is something their S/O does that makes them flustered?

Kenny and Hanh I already answered for here, so here’s Kyle's and Stan’s:

For Kyle, whenever Hanh plays with his hair. I imagine he’s the only person that he lets play with it (I have this tooth-achingly sweet HC where she’ll sometimes steal the boys’ hats and Kyle always reacts the strongest ajskgjlj especially since he’s so reactive and sensitive about his hair’s appearance). Any kind of physical touch can get this guy blushing, even if it’s just their hands slightly grazing. I also imagine he’s the easiest to fluster out of the three, so you’ve just paired the two easiest to fluster people together! I think also something that would make him blush is seeing Hanh stand up for anything, like maybe she just gets a boost of confidence during a debate, or she’s defending Kyle from Cartman again. Idk, seeing her have some confidence and bite would probably leave him feeling proud and flustered.

For Stan: Other than just physical contact (cause we all remember how he is with Wendy, right? Poor boy can’t even get a kiss in without vomiting), I’m not too sure for Stan on this one… I think maybe whenever Hanh enthusiastically asks him about his interests and hobbies! Stan always seems to be drawn towards passionate people, like Wendy and Kyle, so I think when Hanh shows that same passion towards his interests, it leaves him a bit flustered. 

Oh and one more thing for all of them! Hanh falls asleep pretty much all the time, everywhere, so blah blah blah, lots of sleeping on the M3’s shoulders. Thus, shenanigans ensue. Mutual pining ftw <3

For Kenny/Hanh: Hanh probably gets up earlier. She’s a light sleeper, and I imagine Kenny’s a heavier sleeper than her. 

For Kyle/Hanh: Kyle definitely gets up earlier, lol. You cannot tell me this guy doesn’t get up early. 

For Stan/Hanh: They are both waking up late lmao. She probably wakes up earlier, but Stan would just drag her back in bed.

Hanh is a hopeless romantic. Hanh also says: screw gender roles! She’s getting the boys their flowers! 

Kyle and Hanh are probably the type to buy each other flowers on their first date and end up at each other’s doorsteps exchanging bouquets <3 gah theyre idiots I love them. They’re both the types to look up the meanings for each of their flowers too god theyre insufferable (I say, being the one writing this all out). 

Stan probably doesn’t get Hanh flowers unless he’s actively told to (advice from Kyle, probably), or there’s a really special occasion (also has to actively think about it). So suffice to say, he’s shocked when Hanh shows up with a bouquet to give him. I don’t imagine he’s exactly the romantic type, but he shows his love in other ways, like acts of service or physical touch. 

Kenny would probably show up with some freshly plucked daisies and feel really out of his depth when Hanh gives him a bouquet in return. But Hanh isn’t having any of that!!! She’ll treasure those daisies forever, and probably press those flowers to include in her journal/scrapbook. He'd probably come across it while cleaning or trying to look for something and he absolutely melts.

Hm, flowers for the boys, I’m not really sure. But for Hanh, she loves hydrangeas, peonies, lavender, and baby’s breath!

6. What is your most crack, crack ship- talking a pairing potentially no one has heard of?

oh hrmmm tbh i dont think about ships all too much! I've mentioned it before but I'm a very casual shipper, haha. Most of my hyperfixation energy comes in the form of making ocs for the fandom I'm interested in. But in terms of crack ships/rarepairs, I do have a couple!

A lot of them involve the goth kids, like Kenrietta, Stan with the goth kids (like Michael and Pete, I can't imagine Henrietta with Stan lol he has too much loser energy for her). Also Pete Thelman and Mike Makowski! They've even got complimentary hair dye colors, hehe

There was a brief moment in S19E7 between Tolkien and Kenny and I feel like there's something special there... they're both very sweet kids, would probably grow up to be the most mature ones out of their respective groups, and I imagine Tolkien's the type of gentlemen to always pay and make it his treat with his friends and partners!

There's also Stolkien and Stanchole... to be honest, I'm on the fence for specifically Stanchole because I think they'd be a super duper cute couple, but on the other hand I LOVE the idea of platonic Stanchole. Just the idea of them being a power duo for the board game club?? But also, the idea of Stan crushing on both Tolkien and Nichole and having his bi awakening is very funny to me haha

Stutters is also very cute! The seeds were first planted when Stan dragged Butters along to investigate their "future" selves in S6E16, My Future Self 'n' Me. Also, the idea of Stan being this brooding, kinda exaggerated angst, "IT'S NOT A PHASE MOM," teenager, contrasted by Butters who's actually gone through fucked up shit but remains super optimistic and happy-go-lucky? Yea, there's something special there.

10. Favorite episode?

AHHHHH TOO MANY TOO COUNT, TOO HARD TO LIST!!! Haven't made a concise list yet, but I love all of the episodes where the kids act like kids, like the Black Friday Trilogy, Help My Teenager Hates Me, and Losing Edge. Just the contrast of the absurdity that happens in South Park meshing with these kids being kids is hilarious to me.

I also really like I Should Have Never Gone Zipline!! I had to do a guided group tour last summer with a bunch of other people and they were even more insufferable that the group the M4 were stuck with in that episode, so that was really relatable lol. I talk about it more here

13. Favorite Post-Covid adaptation of the kids as adults (bg characters such as Karen, goths, etc included)?

The obvious answer would be Kenny, who is just peak Post-Covid design (I mean look at him: socks and sandals, hawaiian shirt, fishing bucket hat, button pins on his hat, sunglasses indoors. He's so swag). But aside from him, BEBE!!!!! omg when I saw her on screen for the first time... she's so gorge. She looks like she could be a flight attendant and honestly I feel like that fits her vibe: she'd be able to travel to a bunch of countries, maybe pick up a couple of languages, and interact with a bunch of people! She also looks like she could be a lawyer... just very profresh and stylish overall. I also really like Big Gay Al's design!

Hm fears or phobias.. well Hanh is general is kind of a scaredy-cat. She's pretty easy to spook and has a lot of anxiety regarding lots of things. Hanh overthinks things a lot (she's the type to lie in bed and roll over, thinking about cringe stuff she's said) and is terrified of having the spotlight be put on her. Y’know, the usual.

But in terms of deep seated phobias, probably the ocean. Oh and spiders, but spiders she can at least kill.

The idea of being stuck in the middle of the vast ocean expanse, where you see nothing below you but a deep blue? Terrifying. Do not let her watch Jaws. Or play Subnautica.

Swimming also just isn't really that fun for her. The idea of wearing an uncomfortable bathing suit just to swim in cold water isn't very appealing to her, pool or ocean. One you swim in pee water (you can imagine how she felt during the Pipi water park episode), and the other you get sand stuck all over you. No thank you.

Im glad you're looking forward to the painting!! I've made some progress on it but I wanna wait a bit before I upload a WIP progress ! Or who knows, maybe I'll just upload the full thing in one go

AHH DUDEEE 💓💞💖 THANK YOU SM FOR THESE QUESTIONS!!! Other than these assignments making me low key tweak, I'm doing good esp now that there's only one week left (it is now past the semester oops)!! Having these asks is such a nice distraction from all of the monotonous work. It makes me so happy that you want to know more about Hanh!!

(also no youre not going crazy haha, I changed her name from Anh to Hanh. Her full name is Dao Hanh Tran! Tran being her last name)

Ok, onto the questions!!

Was the born in South Park, or did her family move in? What is her family life like?

I mention it briefly here, but Hanh and her family moved into South Park! Timeline wise, I imagine that this move happens before the town became gentrified and people from all over started moving in. They're originally from Michigan and moved to Colorado in order to be closer to family, and South Park seemed like the perfect place to call home (but mostly because her dad found a ridiculously cheap house listing that was too good to pass up). To which Hanh was sorely disappointed, seeing as they just went from one cold climate to an even colder climate, but this time with nothing but mountains and rednecks all around.

Her dad is a restaurant owner and her mom works at a nail salon that's owned by one of their relatives. I think it would be pretty funny if her dad owned the City Pho that we see in Post Covid and if he had a sort of rivalry with the Lu Kim from City Wok, lol. No siblings. When she's young, Hanh has a good relationship with her parents. No tragic deaths or backstories of the sort (yet). She kind of has the perfect life, despite their busy schedules: they bring her out to go a lot of places, spend a lot of time with her and are financially stable. When they first move to South Park, her parents would usually pick her up after school and bring her to the nail salon or at the restaurant either to do homework or to help out with the business (because you're not truly Asian until you participate in child labour! Whoo!).

It's only after integrating themselves into the town more and becoming familliar with the neighbors (aka the M4) that her parents trust her to stay at the boys' houses more, only after getting to know their parents well enough. This is mostly because their workplace is outside of South Park and their closing hours are relatively late, so they don't want to make her stay up too late with them.

As she grows up, her relationship with both of her parents becomes rocky. Around when she reaches Middle School, her parents start putting a lot of academic pressure and expectations on her, especially her mom. Their dad also starts becoming more distant, not only from working on expanding the restaurant chain but also because of family issues stemming from Hanh's grandma on their dad's side: a lot of back and forth trips from South Park to Denver, who takes care of grandma because no nursing home would take her, their grandma's dementia making her incredibly difficult to talk to, etc. It starts causing a lot stress for Hanh's dad and subsequently causes a lot of problems at home, where now both parents are constantly fighting (with very poor attempts at hiding it). Pair that with stubborn attitudes, insecurities and blame games? Yea, nothing constructive is coming out of this. Around this time Hanh tries to avoid being home as much as possible: spending time studying at the library, Kyle's house, hell even at Stan's farm if she can. If I ever get to explore this in a story or comic, this would be a major plot point of what I would want to explore, along with the other boys' problems and dynamics.

Maybe someday I'll figure out a happy ending for them...

Oof that last one was kind of heavy, so let's talk about something more light-hearted! So I'd like to think that Hanh was close with Tweek before they became close with Craig. Speaking of Tweek!! I feel so bad that I completely forgot about him in the best friend ask, but he's arguably one of her closer friends. At the very least, closer than Wendy. But yea, since she became close to Craig thanks to Tweek, usually all three of them hang out together: either studying (very rarely and very begrudgingly: Tweek has barely any time for studying with working at the coffee shop and Craig just doesn't care), or usually their main activity is just going to Craig's place to watch Red Racer for the 100th time (shh don't tell Craig but at this point Hanh barely pays attention and she just draws the whole time, lol). They do this pre-Creek and even post-Creek, because both Craig and Tweek find it stupid to let their relationship affect their other friendships, so they still stay close to each other. They tried doing a group miniature model assembly thing with one of Tweek's sets, but he got too stressed out trying to tell them all of the instructions and seeing them mess up that they never tried it again, lol. If Tweek is busy at the coffee shop, both Craig and Hanh will go there to visit him and keep him company (though Hanh tries not to go with Craig too often just so that the two love birds can have some alone time 🤭). But for specifically Hanh and Craig, I think the two of them are the types of people to not want to do anything too extravagant when hanging out together because just the thought of it can be exhausting: so they stick to just hanging out, watching cartoons, maybe play video games (trying to beat each other in Smash, Mario Party, fighting games, etc.) and sometimes just silently doing their own thing but in the same room. I think after high school, they'd definitely talk a lot less since I imagine that Craig and Hanh would move out of South Park so that proximity aspect does affect their friendship. However, conversations always get picked up as if no time has passed. So, yes, they still remain close even after high school :)

When she's an adult, what do you think she does for a living? Is she happy doing it?

When she grows up she becomes an artist! Specifically an illustrator, so not the kind that makes paintings and puts them up in galleries, but the ones that work with clients, does commissions, work for certain companies, etc. I'm not too sure specifically what kind of illustrator she'd be, since there's so many different kinds. Maybe she'd work as a concept artist for a game company, or as a freelancer picking up odd job offers from different indie studios, or maybe she'd even try to establish her own brand and sell her own merchandise! If after high school she's still hesitant on choosing that path, she'd probably study psychology just to have a fallback plan, but the final goal will always be illustrator! And yea, it's definitely something she's happy doing.

So I didn't really have a specific school of magic in mind of Hanh when I made that witch design. I just kind of thought "haha funny witch" and rolled with it because I love witches HAHA so I think she's kind of got a bit from every school of magic? I'm so sorry if this isn't the answer you were looking for, I really didn't think too hard about it when I made that drawing haha

But I can tell you more about the other question! So no, that isn't her TSOT outfit. I guess you could say it's her in a Monster AU? Since we have Vampire Kyle that originated from the Pinkeye Halloween episode, I kind of thought "oh if she was celebrating Halloween with them, she'd have a witch costume for that episode. Oh, what if I turn that into some sort of Monster AU?" And since a lot of the inspiration was taken from that fic I mentioned in the original post, it just got the synapses sparking HAHA

Her TSOT version though.... ooo.... I've been working on it for a while, and I've still got the game to play but I think I've got a pretty concrete idea of how I want it to look? There's just some kinks I'm not 100% sure on, but I've mostly got the lore figured out.

ok, so funny little story uh.......... im a "liked songs" kind of person and i NEVER make playlists. ive actually only started making playlists like 2 months ago (and only started using spotify like 2 weeks ago) when i got sick of scrolling through my liked songs and i didnt even have any playlists for my characters UNTIL THIS ASK LOLL

But!! I've learned since then!! So let me show you what I've got so far:

In terms of a playlist that she'd listen to, I cannot give you an answer to this because this girl will quite literally listen to everything lol (not me projecting but eh whatever this whole character is me projecting anyway). It'll go from Beabadoobee, to Mother Mother, to Sleep Token, to Tyler the Creator, to New Jeans, to JVB, to DPR Ian, to Nothing but Thieves, to Tame Impala, to the Beastie Boys, to Charli XCX— yea ok you get the picture. It's rare for her to like everything from a single artist and she has songs from every corner. She's a fan of pretty much every genre, it's just that she'll be picky about what songs she ends up enjoying. So yea, her music taste is my music taste!

As for the actual playlist I made for her: it's a mix of both songs that I think fit her vibe and songs that relate to her story. Good luck figuring out which is which, though, because I put both of them together HAHA

Some songs are not related to her story/do not fit her characterization at all (ex: i think there's a beabadoobee song that talks about one night stands? and that is nottt the kind of person she is). It's also because I haven't had the time to check all of the lyrics for each song to make sure they fit her vibe, so I just decided to lump the both of them together lol.

(Some day I'll make one that's specifically works for her story, but I'd have to actually write it out first. But for now, this works.)

i dont like mr hankey and towelie....... everytime i see them in any episode i just think ok. whatever. Even mr. hankey's plotline with his dysfunctional family wasn't enough to make him interesting for me. And towelie is... yea. He exists, I guess.
