Throwing it back 2 years. This 1959 #Gretsch, on loan at the time from @tomgibson3783, started out life as a #SingleAnniversary in #SmokeGreen. Because of a dodgy fretboard that rendered the #guitar unplayable, Tom was able to acquire it inexpensively and upgrade it through the good people at @folkwaymusic with a new ("vanity"!) fretboard as well as a second pickup, and this fancy pinstriping. Such character in this instrument. Here is the guitar I was talking about in my “story” earlier today - it it is a project #guitar I would love to have: @tomgibson3783’s 1959 #Gretsch #6125 #SingleAnniversary in that oh so sexy #smokegreen. Tom picked it up on the cheap because it was a bit mangled and in need of restoration. It had been poorly fitted with a replacement fretboard that had dot fret markers instead of the proper thumbnail inlays, and a @bigsby B3 instead of the correct B6 unit. Tom is having @guitarfixr of @folkwaymusic restore and hotrod it for him. Work will include routing for and installation of a second pickup in the bridge position, a single master volume, a tone control, a pickup selector, the proper #Bigsby B6, and the coolest thing possible, a custom-made ebony fretboard WITH HIS NAME INLAID into it! This thing is going to be killer when it’s done.
