CARNEWS - NEW Skoda's Vision IV Concept

In the near future, designs and concepts for electric vehicles to replace the cars that work with petroleum-based fuels continue to be developed. Skoda was one of the car manufacturers that matched the electric vehicle production trend. Skoda today introduced the new Vision IV concept at the Geneva Motor Show with the launch. The launch also offered the opportunity to see how the brand used the Volkswagen Group's new MEB electric car platform. Although Skoda's new vehicle lags behind other concept vehicles with its design, it has put forward interesting ideas about the characteristics of future electric cars.

In Vision IV, Skoda preferred to install a camera instead of using the side mirrors. In addition, door handles are also opened by contact doors. If we examine the new car in detail in terms of design, we can say that the rear window's viewpoint reminds Mercedes GLC-Class Coupe and BMW X4. Looking into the vehicle, the company has a very minimalist design stand out. There is a digital display right in front of the steering wheel. Also on the vehicle's control panel a tablet-like screen is remarkable. Combining its minimalist design with an environmentalist approach, Skoda has produced almost all parts of the vehicle's interior design from recyclable materials. The mechanical power of the vehicle is provided by two electric motors of 306 hp. Vision IV can drive up to 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds. The car has a fast charging feature and can travel about 500 km with its 83 kW / hr battery, which can reach 80 percent filling capacity in half an hour.

Another modern touch to the car is that smartphones can be used as a car key. In addition, the central console in the car can automatically charge the phones wirelessly and synchronize the 2 smartphones wirelessly. According to Skoda, the vehicle offers a third level of autonomous driving support; that is, on motorways, the vehicle can proceed without driver intervention. The company, however, adds that the driver should be on hand at all times, just in case. Monitors inside the car, the driver's eye movement and pulse by measuring the driver warns about issues such as distraction.  In other words, electric vehicles with such features will have to wait a little longer to become reality.
