Italia Day 3 🇮🇹 Thursday October 5, 2023
Napoli to Puglia drive to Cisternino, BR
Positives: A successful trip out of Naples to head to our b&b in the Apuglian region to meet Papa and Mimi! Got our rental car and enjoyed the scenery
Challenges: bedtime and long drive for Papa and Mimi, still beautiful though. It’s all very exciting and even though we’ve slept the tired energy hasn’t been easy…dinner was too late but trying to stay present and working on keeping G&G calm and respectful.
Best meal: incredible thoughtful dinner by our host Michele at his Trullo consisting of a traditional dish in honor of the Sava region Papa Bob’s father (aka Lindsay’s grandpa Joe and Gabriel & Griffin’s great grandpa) a take on Fave e Cicoria. e learned how to make Focaccia bread and cheese from a master cheese maker and got to eat fresh figs right off a tree.
Fun facts/ we learned: the region where we are is famous for its olives and at dinner we were given “april olives” or Olive d’Aprile very different from any olives, very sweet. Also cactus grow here and our host is planning to prepare some for breakfast!
What made us smile: so much! The cats at the Masseria Trullo Sovrano and getting to know our host and his beautiful land and accommodations. Especially excited about his cats! Very personal and beautiful cooking class and dinner experience and of course meeting up with Mimi & Papa and learning about their travels in Northern Italy.
