Hare and the Turtle Before Aunty Renee came up to Auckland she had expressed her desire to try one of the famed brioche bun sandwich at Hare and the Turtle, more so now as they have achieved Top 10 status, Metro Top 50 Cafes. The freshly baked brioche buns are legendary and once you sandwich a filling, they are out of this world. Aunty chose the Smokey Bro - smoked kawahai, crème fraiche, piccalilli, crispy shallots, microgreens + slice of lemon. Uncle went for the Gobbler (as it’s nearly Christmas) - free-range sliced turkey, cranberry, smoked cheddar and slaw. Our chosen brioche bun sandwiches surpassed our expectations; they are really super-sandwiches, caressed in between the brioche bun. The buns are so good, Uncle had to get some for Aunty to take back to The Hampdens, Nelson.
