"A friend to me is someone who remains beyond death"
-Fushi
After the end of SNK S4P1 and JJKS1 I was looking for something new to watch on Crunchyroll (I need to keep myself busy while waiting for SNKS4P2 to be released; otherwise, I'll lose my mind) and I ran into To Your Eternity trailer. I did my research and found out the manga was written by Yoshitoki Oima, the same author of A Silent Voice.
AND I'M SO LUCKY I GAVE IT A TRY.
It follows the story of an inmortal being, Fushi, that was placed on the Earth with the purpose of gaining knowledge of the world and preserve it. Along the way, it gets to know different people from whom it learns how to be human, developing special bonds with them.
It's beautifully heartbreaking. The storyline, the pacing, the art, the character developement, and the soundtrack are stellar. This anime is an emotional journey that has me crying from episode 1, but episode 12 (the anime is still ongoing) really broke me. If you're giving it a chance, I recommend to have a box of tissues right next to you.
