AL'S DRAMA RECS VOL.1: these recs will solely focus on the writing of the shows, which to me comes down to two things: how well does the plot accomplish what it set out to do in the beginning? and how compelling are the characters written, no matter if their character arc means they become better or worse through the story or even remain who they are? my favourite dramas usually succeed in giving us a satisfying answer to both questions and these are the ones you will see on this list!
★★★★★ dramas (aka the greatest hits):
SECRET FOREST / STRANGER (2017-2021): the pinnacle of all dramas. follows the duo of no-nonsense prosecutor hwang si-mok (the acting star turn of he century by cho seung-woo) and police detective han yeo-jin (the ever-exceptional bae doo-na) investigating a murder case that blows open several scandals in the prosecution. season 2 follows several cases leading to an internal investigation on police bribery. it just does not get better than this and i fear it won't ever will. this drama has the understated styling of nordic noir, the classic shenanigans of an unlikely leading kdrama duo, and one of the tightest scripts ever seen in any tv show ever. | genre: thriller, melodrama, crime procedural
MY LIBERATION NOTES (2022): following the yeom family's three siblings living in the small town of sanpo on the outskirts of seoul, and the stranger moving into the house next door to theirs, this story navigates questions of sibling-hood and family, the purpose of life, as well as the sacrifices we make for the relationships in our life as well as our own happiness. this show earned its hype from the central love story between mr. gu and yeom mi-jeong (son seok-ku and kim ji-won acting the house down) but every one of the three main storylines is well-paced, gives the main actors moments to shine and grow, and ties neatly into the overarching plot to render you either moved or comforted, or even both. | genre: slice of life, melodrama
VINCENZO (2020): at this point are there still followers on this blog who haven't at least seen me talk about vincenzo? the writing of this show is maybe the peak of genre-blending done in kdrama, a culmination of years refining this skill to sharp perfection in a biting black comedy. vincenzo cassano (song joong-ki), consiglieri of a mafia clan he got adopted into, goes back to south korea to recover a frankly unholy amount of gold and fights a gigantic conglomerate (babel) to get there. if you watch past episode four, you will finish this drama, because everything ensuing from then on is just one iconic story beat after another. | genre: black comedy / satire, crime, romance
HOSPITAL PLAYLIST (2020-2022): a medical drama beyond reproach. this show is on this list for the way it wrote its characters and achieved the most satisfying character arcs in any kdrama, maybe, ever. a group of five friends in their fourties all working at the same hospital and navigating their professional and private lives, this drama doesn't shy away from eclectic backstories (and the leads all playing music together in a band) as well as truly heart-tearing moments of friendship and romance. never have i seen character growth done as well as i have seen it in the characters of yang seok-hyeong and kim-jun-wan. | genre: medical, slice of life, rom-com
D.P. / DESERTER PURSUIT (2021-2023): d.p. to me is a no-notes kind of show. it depicts the work of the military police pursuing army deserters through freshly enlisted ahn jun-ho (jung hae-in playing years below his age and leagues above many his actual age) who ends up empathizing and working to help and save the deserters he and his team partner han ho-yeol (an exceptional koo kyo-hwan) are meant to bring back to the army instead of incriminating them further. d.p. is much better for its tone, its writing and the risks it takes in its no-nonsense approach than some of the drivel revered solely for being more flashy and showy in this genre. | genre: military drama, action
★★★★☆ dramas (aka near-perfection):
PRISON PLAYBOOK (2017): the perfect prototype of the bromance as romance formula and one of the best found family dramas that really focuses on that. star baseball player kim je-hyuk (park hae-soo in his career-defining role) loses his career and lands in prison after he assaults the ex-boyfriend of his younger sister to protect her. the show centers on je-hyuk's time in prison, where he reunites with his childhood best-friend-now-prison-guard lee jun-ho (a supreme jung kyung-ho) and assimilates himself with the people he meets in his cell. this show hits all the beats so well from a stellar supporting cast to a great comeback kid narrative for je-hyuk from his time in prison to being released. glaring flaw: the age-gap / childhood friends romance, the conclusion of hanyang's story arc, who gets the short end of the stick while being the one out gay character in the show. | genre: black comedy, found family, slice of life
GOBLIN: THE LONELY AND GREAT GOD (2017): the defining kdrama for many. it may be the one drama that really delivers in answering its plot's defining question twice over and then some. goblin kim shin (gong yoo), cursed to immortality, gets his life upended once a grim reaper (lee dong-wook as wang yeo, a performance never to be seen or repeated again since) and the young woman (kim go-eun as ji eun-tak) who turns out to be his fated bride enter his life. an immortal man resigned on life finds purpose while knowing he will fatally die once the woman he falls in love with cures him of his curse. glaring flaw: the age gap romance between eun-tak and kim shin. could she have not been in college at least? | genre: melodrama, romance, fantasy
CRASH LANDING ON YOU (2019): the romance drama that could, and did. based on a real life incident, ceo yoon se-ri (son ye-jin, an acting veteran near beyond reproach imo) accidentally crash lands in north korea after a paragliding flight gone wrong. there she meets active duty soldier captain ri jeong-hyeok (hyun bin, thank you for your service) and has to stay with him and his military company. the fated love story starts there, but neither of them know they have met before, and already changed the courses of each other's lives before doing so again. minor flaw: is this drama romanticising the military? or is depicting of that on screen just that and nothing more? that is up to you to decide. | genre: melodrama, romance
HOMETOWN CHA CHA CHA (2021): the series remake of a korean rom-com film of the early aughts, this remains my favourite romance drama over all. dentist yoon hye-jin (shin min-a blessing our screens) moves to rural gongjin, a seaside village where nothing happens at all, after her professional life in seoul goes up in flames. it's not all sunshine in gongjin either as ye-jin meets hong du-sik (kim seon-ho),a handyman who is called chief hong by everyone and fixes all the big and small fires in the village. the two start as enemies that eventually fall in love. the romance is well-handled and paced and the second lead (lee sang-yi) is the best i have ever seen in a show, especially because of the arc written for him. minor flaw: the plot is not as tight as the respective character arcs, so sometimes sacrifices are made for the sake of a more emotional scenes. | genre: rom-com, slice of life
THE GLORY (2022): when you put the revenge in revenge drama, this is what you can get. song hye-ko returns to small screen brilliance in an incomparable performance as moon dong-eun, a woman who decides to infiltrate the lives of her school bullies and take them down one by one. this show delivers on plot even more than on characters, following through on every step of moon dong-eun's revenge without shying away from how gruesome or painful that path of vengeance can be. dong-eun gets help from plastic surgeon joo yeo-jeong (a delightful lee do-hyun), and the main cast is rounded out by lim ji-yeon and jung sung-il as dong-eun's grown up tormentor and her reluctant husband respectively. minor flaw: the show does spend a big chunk of its time on the group of school bullies and their interpersonal relations, which sometimes takes time away from the main plot. | genre: psychological thriller, revenge drama
♡ more specific genre watches (beware: usually crime):
LIFE (2018): written by the writers of secret forest, life is another thriller with understated direction and a more sombre tone. i would have put it in the greatest hits category, but watching it with other people made me realise how niche it actually is in genre. a corporate hospital thriller, the show revolves around the newly-minted ceo of sangkook university hospital, gu seung-hyo (a once again flawless cho seung-woo) and a dedicated ER doctor (lee dong-wook, stellar as ever) who depict the two sides of the patient care vs. profit conflict in the hospital. i can't even say more about the show because every other plot point is basically a spoiler. sharply directed and written, this is one of the best genre pieces i have ever watched, and is mildly reminiscent of hbo prestige television of the decade before. | genre: medical drama, corporate thriller
THE WORST OF EVIL (2023): are you even surprised? this was the drama of 2023 for me, one of the most stellar scripts i have seen. the worst of evil is very firmly a noir show and you have to treat what you are watching as such. it is heavily entrenched into its genre tropes and arcs, even more than most crime shows i have seen, and that can be off-putting for people unfamiliar with the genre, but if you are up for it, you will not be disappointed. opportune violent crime detective park jun-mo (ji chang wook, korea's finest new gen action actor) infiltrates a drug ring lead by jung gi-cheol ( fantastic and emotional tour de force by wi ha joon) and the lines begin to blur when neither of them knows if what they bargained for is actually what they want. the show lets its main plot dictate the pace, focusing on park jun-mo's descent into crime, and it is all the more better for it. | genre: noir, crime thriller, action
BEYOND EVIL (2020): the story about dejected and grieving small-town detective lee dong-sik (baeksang-awarded veteran actor shin ha-kyun) being partnered with elite detective and spinster seoulite han joo-won (child actor prodigy turned actor to watch du jour) has made its waves online for its very apparent gay subtext, but to reduce beyond evil to this would be a crime in itself. following lee dong-sik and han joo-won as they are tasked to solve a reoccurring serial killer case, the framing plot then fans open the age-old wound of dong-sik losing his twin sister and being blamed for her disappearance with joo-won having taken an obsessive fascination with the case. the two crime cases are exceptionally interwoven and the stories of the people in the small town of manyang, and how they all somehow tie back to dong-sik, is the perfect example of turning the small centrepiece of a plot into the binding force of every thread. | genre: procedural, psychological thriller
OUR BELOVED SUMMER (2021): i put this into the genre-piece category because obl is majorly focused on its main trope. romantic dramas can easily be trite to me, as this obvious list of crime shows doesn't tell you, but our beloved summer is one of the few that did everything right. it plays out the best trope ever done - exes to lovers - and does not back down from embracing the whole shebang to the nth degree. high school / college sweethearts choi woong (known beloved actor on ye-xiu tumblr dot com, choi woo-shik) and kook yeun-soo (the ever great kim da-mi) have to unite to replicate, or rather continue, the viral high school documentary they filmed years ago. the show shimmies its way from one moment of reconnection to another, culminating in the best kdrama kiss to ever be put to screen, and concludes in one of the most satisfying and, yes, romantic endings ever. the things a show can do when it just sticks to its main narrative, huh. | genre: rom-com, coming of age

[Tales from the Pack] Soonyoung: Imperfect (Part 10)
Tumblr media
Characters: Soonyoung x female reader
Genre/warnings: werewolf au, fantasy, fluff, mild angst??, they talk a lot about like rut and stuff but nothing happens, mention of religion at the beginning, i think that’s it but lmk if i missed anything :)
Word count: 3,654
Summary: Soonyoung has always been desperate to find his mate, often going out into town at night to fill the void of imprinting that he craves so much. Then suddenly, you (quite literally) appear in front of him. He’d always dreamed and fantasized about what having his mate would be like, but the reality is nothing like he expected.
a/n: things in bold are in english and whenever soonyoung says reader’s name it’s meant to be reader’s surname

You both knew it was coming. It was kind of weird that you could sense it. There was a shift in Soonyoung, both in how he was acting and other things that you could just sense -- things your instincts picked up on that weren’t necessarily things you could physically see. They were signs you were already familiar with because of the boys in your pack, but these ones were impacting you, now. It was different. It was scary.
It was...intriguing.
Your mate’s rut was coming up very soon. Obviously that was a conversation that hadn’t come up between the two of you, but now that you could sense the change, you knew Soonyoung would want to talk about it.
God, you moving in was really bad timing.
“Y’know, I was never quite sure if I believed in God or Gods or any higher power,” Soonyoung began as he sat in the kitchen, sitting at one of the chairs at the table with his head back as he stared at the ceiling, “but now I’m positive there’s one out there because they fucking hate me.”
“Could just chalk everything up to fate like Lilly used to,” Jun shrugged.
“Maybe it is,” Seungcheol offered. “Maybe this is how you and _____ will really start bonding.”
Soonyoung’s eyes widened, his head lifting up like he was being raised from the dead as he stared at the eldest, “That is not how I want to bond.”
“Your track record implies otherwise,” Danbi snorted, making the others in the kitchen laugh along.
“Well, not now!”
“So what’re you going to do, then?” Yeji wondered. “She moved in hardly a week ago. You’re gonna kick her back out?”
“What else am I supposed to do?” he sighed, running his hands through his hair. “I can’t be around her like this. It’s way too soon for us to be doing...any of that, and I don’t want the first time to be because of fucking rut.”
Jihoon scoffed, “Since when are you a gentleman?”
“Speak for yourself.”
“Aw, Soonie was a hopeless romantic the whole time,” Danbi cooed. “He just...had unconventional ways of trying to find his mate.”
“How’re you going to boot her?” Yeji asked bluntly, changing the subject back.
“Considering I probably can’t word it very well, I was hoping...maybe...Kyu--”
“No.”
The newer alpha walked into the kitchen before Soonyoung could even get her name fully out of his mouth. His golden eyes widened as his eyes followed her like a helpless puppy. He scrambled to his feet and immediately stood behind her as she opened the fridge door, her curly hair tickling his nose from how close he got to her.
“Please?” he begged. “I can’t nicely ask her to leave. I can’t even explain to her what’s happening! I’d need your help anyway so why not just do it for me?”
“Because she’s not my mate, Soon,” she chuckled, turning around and putting a hand to his chest to gently push him backwards a couple steps. “I’m not talking to her about anybody’s mating season. That’s between you, her, and Mother Nature.”
“And how am I supposed to explain it to her when I don’t even know the words to do it?” he huffed, crossing his arms over his chest and furrowing his brow. “Face it, you need to help me.”
“I don’t need to do anything,” she stated, mimicking his expression and body language. “You don’t have any alpha charge over me.”
The two stood there in a silent battle to see who would break, but neither seemed to do so. Eyes narrowed and tension so thick it was almost palatable, the two alphas stared each other down unwaveringly.
“I’ll do it.”
All eyes in the kitchen went to the doorway to see a tired Josh standing beside an ever-chipper-looking Arinya, her hand in his. He looked like a disheveled and grumpy father bringing his daughter downstairs too early on Christmas morning, and a few of the wolves couldn’t help but scoff and snort.
Kyung and Soonyoung both figured that if anyone were to concede and offer help, it would’ve been Hansol. They were honestly both surprised to see the eldest of the English speakers being the one to step up -- especially considering he never wanted to help anyone.
“You’ll do it?” Junhui laughed. “Did we all just forget about the last time you ‘helped’ Soonyoung and _____?”
Joshua merely rolled his eyes as Ari let go of his hand to scurry into the kitchen in search of breakfast. He entered at a much slower pace, relaxing down into a wooden chair at the end of the table.
“I learned my lesson, alright?” he insisted, though he seemed pretty bored. “Plus, _____ unfortunately would be able to understand at least part of what he says, so lying would be kind of hard.”
“Wow, how kind of you,” Danbi deadpanned.
“Why’re you volunteering?” Seungcheol asked him curiously, studying him carefully for any signs of ulterior motives. “You never wanted to help with their English lessons.”
“Because,” he let out a deep sigh, “I really don’t feel like hearing Soonyoung fuck her brains out.”
The kitchen filled with murmurs of agreement as Soonyoung’s face turned bright red and he frowned deeply at the older wolf.
Joshua took notice of his expression and smiled a stupid, shit-eating grin, “Do you want someone’s help or not?”
“Fine, whatever,” was all he grumbled in reply.
-
Maybe Hansol would’ve been first to step in and offer his help, but he was out with you, anyway. Him, Minghao, and Jia went to the market with you because the pack needed a few things, and you knew of a vendor from New Zealand who always gave you really good discounts.
After only a few minutes of talking with Jia, though, he offered to give you some things for free.
“I really don’t think he was hitting on her,” Hansol insisted so Minghao’s jealousy wouldn’t get too out of hand.
But he was jealous. He didn’t understand why that vendor would just give them stuff unless he had some sort of interest in his mate.
“_____, what do you think?” Hansol asked you, turning to his right to look at you.
You had vaguely gotten the gist of the conversation, so you shrugged, “He didn’t look at her any kind of weird way. I don’t know, Minghao, I think Jia’s just really likeable.”
When Hansol translated, Jia giggled softly in response, “Thank you.”
“I think anybody would give her the shirt off their back if she asked,” you continued.
“Exactly!” Hansol chuckled.
The rest of the walk through the forest was mostly filled with Hansol trying to explain to Minghao the odd affect his mate had on everyone around her, which was why the vendor probably did what he did. But it seemed like Minghao wasn’t letting up on his opinion that the guy had an interest in Jia.
As you approached the house, you could see Hanbin, Jaesang, and Baekhan standing in the yard, talking to Seungcheol, Jooyeon, Danbi, Joshua, and Soonyoung. As soon as you could be seen in the trees, Soonyoung’s eyes locked on you and his body went slightly rigid despite the wide smile on his face seeing you come back from the market.
It wasn’t surprising to you that a few members of your old pack -- that felt so weird to say -- had shown up. They promised to help bring a few remaining things from your room to your new house.
Except they still had things in their arms, and it was things you had already brought to the house. So why did they have them with them outside?
You could tell they were talking about moving -- you’d heard enough about that all week to know. Something about moving and only staying for a week. Something about it being quick and easy, and something about wondering if you’d agree to it.
You? Why would you be moving away?
Were they kicking you out?
Your blood suddenly started to feel cold. You wondered if they maybe couldn’t make it work like Kyung and Soonyoung insisted they could. Maybe there were too many people in the house. Or maybe you were too much of a handful. You tried to be helpful, but you obviously weren’t the easiest person to communicate with, and you still tended to get shy and a little nervous pretty often.
As your small group approached, the eyes of your pack were drawn to you, causing your old pack to turn around to see who was coming. All of them -- except Jooyeon and Danbi -- were either smiling or laughing quietly at something.
“Um...did you guys forget somebody?” Jooyeon asked.
Minghao and Hansol both gave them confused looks before turning to make sure everyone was accounted for. Jia, who was the most likely to get lost, was still between them, her head angled upwards like she was looking up at Minghao to understand what Jooyeon was talking about.
Then they looked to the end, and Hansol’s eyes widened, leaning away from where he was sure you were standing, but he couldn’t physically see you there.
You were invisible, your nerves getting the best of you and it just...happened. It was a typical occurrence, and it became so common for it to happen that you didn’t even really realize when it did anymore.
“Why are you hiding?” Soonyoung giggled, walking right up to you and taking both of your hands in his like he could see you.
He just always knew where you were. It was both endearing in a cheesy soulmate-y kind of way, and also somewhat frightening and a bit annoying.
You came back into view, your wide, worried eyes looking at Hanbin as you asked quietly, “Am I moving?”
Hanbin immediately looked at Soonyoung, seeming somehow more frightened than you.
Soonyoung looked at him, then back at you. Then he turned to look at Joshua over his shoulder, “Hey, uh...help?”
Seungcheol’s arm was around Jooyeon, and he lightly tapped against he shoulder, “We should go inside.”
“What? Why?” she whined as he began to slowly drag her away. “I wanna see what happens!”
“It’s none of our business, baby,” he told her.
“But you’ll know! You’ll hear everything!”
“We’ll be, um...in the backyard,” Hanbin decided, looking between you and Soonyoung. “Come find us when you’re done.”
As they walked away, and the rest of the pack went inside the house, Joshua stepped forward to stand beside your mate. He told you what your old alpha told you, and your eyebrows furrowed.
“What’s going on...?” you wondered in a small voice, looking between the two men like they were towering menacingly over you, when they were actually standing casually beside each other.
“You’re fading again,” Joshua stated.
You fixed yourself and rolled your shoulders back, trying to relax yourself and take a deep breath. But the longer they weren’t telling you, the more anxious you were getting.
“_____,” Soonyoung said your first name for the first time as he stepped closer and gave your hands a gentle squeeze, and it made your heart sink into your stomach. That had to be a bad sign. Soonyoung never called you by your first name, or even the nickname your old pack had given you. But he seemed to be able to tell how scared you were from how your eyes widened and your breathing hitched slightly, and he quickly said, “Baby, it’s nothing bad, I promise.”
Still, that didn’t help.
“Can you just say what you need to say?” Joshua pressed. “You’re stressing her out more doing it slowly.”
Soonyoung closed his eyes and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly.
“Can you relax, drama queen? You’re hardly even the one telling her,” the older man told him, rolling his eyes.
Your mate’s eyes opened again, staring straight into yours.
“I need you to leave for about a week--”
Your eyes widened again.
“Only a week!” he told you quickly. “You will come back to me, I promise. I just...”
He looked to Joshua for guidance.
Josh was looking at you while he listened to Soonyoung, but when the alpha stopped, he slowly turned his head to look at him. Then he gave him a ‘what?’ sort of gesture with a mean look to go with it.
“You’re the alpha,” he reminded Soonyoung.
“You’ve been alive longer than me,” Soonyoung retorted. “And you said you’d help me, so help. What do I even say?”
“Just tell her.”
Soonyoung looked back at you, looking almost as scared as you probably did.
“My rut is starting really soon, so I want you to go back with Hanbin for a little while.”
All you caught was ‘go with Hanbin’, so you just blinked as your look of worry started to border on confusion.
The alpha looked to Joshua again, “See, you should’ve just told her.”
The healer let out a deep and annoyed sigh, rolling his eyes before he looked back at you. Thankfully, any hostility he held toward his alpha didn’t show when he looked at you. He looked much softer, which helped your nerves.
“Soonyoung’s asking you to leave while his rut is happening,” he told you earnestly. “You’re obviously more than welcome to come back after it’s over, but he wants you away from him while it’s happening.”
Your body warmed, like you felt the blood rushing back into every limb. You felt like you could breath again, and your expression definitely relaxed. But still, you were confused. Soonyoung didn’t want you around? Wasn’t the opposite supposed to happen?
“I want to ask why...but-- ...No offense, but I don’t really want you explaining any of this to me...” you admitted shyly, feeling your cheeks heat up.
Josh just let out a laugh and told you, “I don’t really want to explain it to you, either. I just have to be here so you both understand each other.”
“Okay, then,” you breathed, figuring you really had no choice but to let Josh be included in your business. You would’ve rather had Kyung or Rika, but Rika was a handful of miles away, and you didn’t want to force Kyung to come play translator for you. So you looked to Soonyoung and carried on with the conversation. “Why don’t you want me around?”
“I will,” he told you with a chuckle. “That’s the problem. My-- Um... My rut this time around will be a lot stronger now that I found you. So not only do I not want to hurt you or be too much for you, but...I really don’t want our...first time together...to be during mating season. I know my rut also affects you, and I don’t want you to feel...obligated. I don’t want it to be forced because of instinct. I want it to be...special.”
You could tell even Soonyoung was getting uncomfortable speaking with Josh around, but his brother kept his expression neutral the whole time as he listened, and even when he did his best to translate. It was like none of it phased him even though the two of you were literally talking about sex.
After Josh was done, you frowned, sounding more offended than anything as you said, “You can’t hurt me.”
“You know what I mean,” Soonyoung laughed, shaking his head. “I’m assuming you’ve never experienced someone else’s rut. We can get...intense.”
“And I can attest to that,” Joshua admitted after he translated.
You scrunched your nose as you thought, letting out a deep breath through your nose. When you relaxed your face after considering everything for only a moment, you looked back at Soonyoung and shrugged.
“I think I’ll be fine,” you stated quietly.
Joshua scoffed before he let out a loud laugh, and Soonyoung gave you an incredulous look.
“Are you telling me you want to stay?” he asked.
You nodded, “Yeah.”
“Why?”
You shrugged again despite your face feeling the hottest it ever has, and your voice came out shyly, “I don’t know. We already know we’re made for each other and stuff... As your mate, aren’t I supposed to...help?”
“There’s never any obligation,” Joshua told you seriously without even telling Soonyoung what you said. “Even as a mate, you can always say no.”
“I guess I just...want to...?”
God, you wanted to sink into the ground.
But it was true. You felt these feelings for Soonyoung, and you liked the idea of being with him -- even if you hated having to admit it to not only Soonyoung himself, but also his grumpy brother.
“I can’t even see you,” Josh said.
You came back into view as Soonyoung laughed loudly, his thumbs rubbing the backs of your hands, “It’s awkward, right?”
You nodded as you started to laugh awkwardly, too, “I hate this.”
Once you both stopped laughing, Soonyoung let out a breath. He looked deep into your eyes as he said, “_____, I can’t even tell you how happy it makes me to know you trust me enough to be with me like that. Happy is an understatement, honestly. I know how you are, and I know that this is...a huge step. I’m honored and elated and-- I just feel every good thing knowing you want to do all of that with me. But I really, really think it’s best for both of us if we wait. Not only does my hormones mess with you which is probably why you feel like you want to help, but what am I going to do if I can’t understand you and I accidentally go too far or hurt you somehow? I couldn’t live with myself.”
Joshua groaned, “Do I really have to say all of that?”
Soonyoung rolled his eyes before glaring at his brother, “You’re awful help, you know that?”
“I got it.”
Soonyoung and Joshua turned their heads toward each other to look over their shoulders, seeing Kyung already coming down the short steps from the porch. Like when Joshua volunteered, Soonyoung expected to see Hansol coming to volunteer, especially after Kyung made such a huge deal about not helping. But God, was he relieved to see her coming to his rescue.
“I can’t listen to you two bicker any longer,” she stated as she walked up between the two brothers. Then she pointed at Josh. “And if I had to listen to you sigh again, I think I’d ask Seokmin to strike me with lightning.”
To that, he smirked, “I knew if I did a shitty enough job, you’d come do it instead.”
Her eyes narrowed, and you saw small flames start to spark from her fingertips. It was then that Joshua quickly wished you luck before walking about as fast as you’d ever seen him toward the backyard.
Kyung looked to you with soft eyes, placing a hand on your shoulder, “_____, it really does mean a lot to him that you trust him that much and want to be with him like that -- more than I think I could even attempt to put into words -- but he really wants you to wait. Since neither of you can fully understand each other, it’s more of a safety thing more than anything. If he can’t understand you, there’s a possibility he could hurt you. On top of that, his hormones have an affect on you and vice versa. The reason you feel like you want to help could totally just be because of the change in him. It’s almost...forced, in a way.”
“How could he hurt me?” you wondered sincerely, ignoring every other reason.
“You know how during heat, you become... What’s the word...? Insatiable, I suppose? Like nothing is enough and you need more?”
“I guess.”
“It’s like that, but now it’s worse because now he has a mate,” she explained. “So, he honestly could hurt you. He’s not exaggerating.”
You frowned slightly. It seemed like there was no persuading him to let you stay. Considering it wasn’t just a matter of not wanting to have your first time together be during mating season, but more so a safety risk, you didn’t have much to fight against. You couldn’t argue that you’d be fine and understand him well enough because Kyung and Joshua still had to translate the conversation you were currently having. You didn’t have an argument here.
So you conceded with a sigh and a quiet, “Fine...”
Soonyoung gave you an apologetic look as he let go of one of your hands to cup your cheek, the pad of his thumb rubbing across your cheeks that still felt impossibly hot, “It’s only for a week, give or take a few days.”
“I know...” you mumbled.
He stepped forward to press a soft kiss to your forehead before he tried to smile at you, even though your eyes were on the ground instead of looking at him.
“I made sure to give Hanbin and the boys your essentials,” he told you. “They’ll walk you back with them.”
“‘Kay...”
“Are you mad at me?” he asked quietly, his small smile forming.
Finally, you met his eyes, “No. No, I’m-- ...I don’t really know what I am. I think I’m...disappointed, maybe. I don’t know...”
Soonyoung let out a sigh and wrapped his arms around you in a tight hug, “I’m sorry, baby.”
“You don’t have to be sorry,” you told him. “I guess I just wish I learned faster.”
“C’mon,” Kyung tugged gently on your elbow to pull you away from Soonyoung -- who honestly, didn’t really want to let go because of his rut nearing, “I’ll bring you to Hanbin. Soon should probably go inside.”
So you said goodbye to your mate and followed Kyung to your old alpha so he could bring you back to your old home.
Only a week after you’d moved into your new one.

Flaco’s Rules (Flaco x  virgin f! reader)
Summary: You come back from a long journey without telling Flaco beforehand and he teaches you a lesson.
Word Count: 2624
Warning: smut (also the first time I’ve written smut so lmk if I should write more or not lol
Here is the story link if you prefer ao3 https://archiveofourown.org/works/29768013
It had been about a year since you and your brother had unofficially joined the Del Lobos. That was quite a long time to y’all, seeing as the two of you didn’t like to commit to other people, y’all had always rode alone. It wasn’t so hard to be an affiliate of the gang, however. You and Billy could go wherever you pleased and not communicate with the gang for weeks on end, as long as you brought money back to the gang and spoke to Flaco when you returned to the Grizzlies. The two of you weren’t exactly the typical Del Lobos affiliates, but you were quick and accurate with a gun and had never snitched before, so Flaco welcomed you and Billy into the gang rather kindly.
This time, you and Billy had been gone for at least a month. You hadn’t intended on staying out that long, but a heist led you to France and it had taken forever to travel there. Upon your return, Flaco demanded to speak to you and Billy. Flaco always wanted to hear from you after your trips but when the Del Lobos told you that Flaco needed to speak to you, they passed along that he was much more tense, almost angry, than usual. Not much scared you in this cruel world, but an angry Flaco did.
You and Billy immediately set off to speak to Flaco in his cabin. It was a very short walk from the rest of the cabins, but the fear in the pit of your stomach made you walk much slower than normal. Billy seemed to have the same feeling.
“What do you think he’s going to say?” Billy asked you.
“He’s probably mad we stayed out this long? What else does he have to talk about? Surely he’s not calling us in to have tea, Billy.” you replied with a shakiness in your voice.
This apparently made your brother quite angry. His face went from fearful to enraged in half a second.
“He doesn’t control us. He can’t tell us what to do. We will never be his workmen. We forge our own path.”
“I agree, but we accepted his offer of protection in the Grizzlies and he expects us to follow his rules, I suppose. Just try not to make a scene. I know how you are.”
“Fuck you, I’ll make a Hell of a scene. Just watch.”
“Billy, stop”
It was too late. The two of you had reached the door to Flaco’s cabin and instead of listening to you, your twin had bust through the door without warning. He always had been hellbent on destroying authority.
“Mr Hernandez, we do not have to answer to you! You think you are better than us but old man, you are far past your prime. In fact, my sister and I have racked up bigger bounties than you already. This superiority complex has to stop or else you will find a bullet between your eyes.” Billy word vomited at Flaco.
You had looked at Billy in confusion the moment he started talking. Superiority complex? Bullet between his eyes? What was this man talking about? Flaco eyes grew dark at the rude words and you cowered in fear, planning on what to do if Flaco tried to kill him.
To your surprise, Flaco began laughing. “Oh, the little boy think he can talk big to Flaco? He think he can scare me, huh? Puffing out your chest, thinking he is a man. You are pathetic. Leave before I shoot you, I will talk with the girl. She is more reasonable than you.”
Billy scoffed. “Who do you think you’re talking to, old man?”
“Billy, go. You have disrespected him.” you said softly.
Billy huffed and puffed but he still ended up leaving.
“Now, what do you want, Flaco?” You asked. Your brother insisted on calling him Mr. Hernandez as a way of “keeping his distance”, whatever that meant, But you, well you had a sort of friendship with Flaco. You definitely had a soft spot for him. You didn’t feel anything but disdain for most men, but you liked Flaco. Maybe more than you would like to admit.
“You were gone for a long time.” he informed you, like you didn’t already know.
“I know, we didn’t mean to. We made our way to France for an art heist and we sure made you a lot of money. Would-”
“I was worried,” Flaco said softly, cutting you off. “I do not care about the money. Your cabron brother is right. You have big bounties on your head.”
You laughed lightly, not showing that you were taking his care for you to heart.
“We can take care of ourselves. Been taking care of ourselves for well over a decade, since we were very little.” you told him, looking at your shoes. You didn’t like to open up to people
“You will have to tell me about that someday. When you are ready. Anyway, don’t care much for the jackass. But you, I care for you. How did your trip go?”
“Fine, made out with a lot of money. Billy’s cockiness got us a bounty over there. That’s a first for us, being wanted in multiple countries.” “Sounds like him.” Flaco chuckled warmly.
“It was good besides that. Ate a lot of the native foods and saw beautiful buildings. I liked it there.”
“Did you find a French lover? That is what they’re known for, eh? Love?”
You laughed at him. “I think that is just a stereotype. I was too busy anyhow.”
“Too busy for love? You have a lot to learn, but you are young and Flaco is old, so it makes sense you are not as wise. Surely you had boys following you around, though? You are very beautiful.”
“I guess so.” you responded awkwardly. Truthfully, several men had followed you around during your time there, yelling things at you that you were glad you couldn’t understand. You assumed they were lewd. It all made you so uncomfortable.
Flaco sensed something was wrong and, not knowing how to comfort you, changed the subject, although not one you particularly wanted to talk about either.
“You did disobey your part of the deal, though. You understand that, yes?”
“The deal?” You asked. You had no idea what he was talking about.
“The deal we made when you joined Del Lobos. When we gave you our protection.”
Oh, that. You didn’t remember there being any specified deal, much less that you couldn’t leave for an extended amount of time, but Flaco looked angry so you decided not to question him further.
“Oh yes, I do. I’m sorry we broke the rules, Flaco.”
“Do not call me that right now. We are not friends. I am your boss. You address me as such. This is a serious thing you have gone and done.”
“I’m sorry, sir?” the term felt foreign on your tongue. You didn’t answer to anybody like this.
“Yes yes. Good. You two need to learn. Your brother, I’m afraid, I can not reprimand because he will make me angry and I will kill him. Poof, no more Billy. But you, I think I can handle you.”
Handle you? What was that supposed to mean?
“I’m not sure I understand. I really am sorry.”
“Sorry is not good enough. I have leniency because you are young and stupid. Any of my men who would do what you did? I shoot them. But you are grown, yes? Old enough to know better?”
You and your brother didn’t explicitly tell people your age for security reasons, so it was a valid question on his part, although you felt you definitely looked old enough for that generally to not be a question. But you were pretty young and you looked it.
“Yes, of course. I wouldn’t be so friendly with you if I was just a kid. That wouldn’t be exactly safe.” You tried to laugh but Flaco’s eyes were narrow and so unkind in that moment that you decided against it.
“Good, then you won’t have a problem taking your punishment.” He smiled wickedly.
“What punishment,?” you asked. Flaco furrowed his eyebrows. “sir?” you added.
He smiled once again, but didn’t let his stern exterior go. He sat down on his cot.
“Lay here.” he patted his lap.
“Oh I don’t think so” you backed yourself into his door. Flaco stayed where he was and looked at you patiently. He wasn’t stopping you from leaving. This was entirely up to you. The two of you stared at each other for a few moments. You could feel the immense tension between you and Flaco. Finally, you walked over and bent over his knee.
“Fine. I guess this makes sense. I did break the rules.” You were mostly reasoning with yourself, not Flaco.
“No, chica. Pull up your dress. You can leave your drawers on.” The request probably should have offended you, but you felt heat in your core at the thought. You tried not to show this on your face, however, and pulled your dress up before laying back down on Flaco’s lap.
“Such a good listener, you are. Wish you would have listened to my rules the first time.” his hand rubbed your ass through your bloomers before striking it abruptly. You yelped in surprise. What was more surprising was that it felt good. You’d never been spanked before, this was all new to you.
“Flaco-” you started.
“Shhh” he brought his hand down again, hard. If he kept spanking you this hard, your ass would be stinging for days.
Yet he didn’t relent. He spanked you seven or eight times, each one harder than the one before. Despite your best efforts, you involuntarily started to let out strangled moans. You cursed yourself after each one. You were in trouble with Flaco, not having sex with him.
Flaco finally stopped and you assumed he was done. However, when you got up, Flaco pulled you back down by your hair. Ugh, why did that feel good too?
“You are not learning your lesson.” Flaco hissed, obviously frustrated, but at the same time it didn’t quite feel like he was frustrated with you.
“No I promise, Flaco.” he smacked your ass once more. “Sorry, sir.”
“I need you to pull your bloomers down.” he told you sternly.
“What? No.” You may be an outlaw, but you were still a lady.
He grabbed you by the chin and forced you to look at him.
“Y/n, I’m not gonna make you but-” you nodded at him, signifying that you were okay with it. You never thought you’d be doing this but for some reason, you trusted Flaco. Besides, you secretly wanted him to keep going.
Flaco was visibly confused as to why you had nodded but had made no move to pull down your bloomers. After a few moments, he took the hint and pulled them down himself. You immediately clenched your thighs together, praying that he couldn’t see how wet you were. That however, was a massive failure.
“I think you need to explain something, mi novia.” he said, in the meantime giving you two hard slaps on the ass.
“I don’t know what that means, sorry sir.”
“It means my girl.” he told you in a soft, husky voice.
You shivered at the words. You wanted to be his girl. You wanted it badly. And he seemed to be on the same page as you. He hadn’t done this because you did something wrong and he felt it strongly needed to be corrected. No, he wanted you just as badly as you wanted him.
“I- well I liked it when you spanked me. I didn’t know I would, I’ve never been spanked before.”
“You’re inexperienced, huh?” Flaco asked, moving his hands from your ass to feel the wetness between your folds.
“Flaco!” you gasped.
“And expressive. I like that.”
“I’m just, oh! I haven’t done any of this before.”
Flaco pulled his hand back abruptly. He was silent and you, sure that you had done something wrong, sat up and looked up at him.
“You aren’t a virgin, are you?” he asked in disbelief.
“Ummm, yeah I am. I’m sorry, I suppose.” you got up from his lap and picked your bloomers off the floor, absolutely mortified.
“Wait, mi angel.” Flaco grabbed your arm. “It’s not a bad thing, not at all. I was surprised, is all. You’re a rough and tumble girl.” he laughed, but it was clear there was meaning behind his words. “Come back here, let ol’ Flaco make you feel good.”
You smiled and laid over him again, this time both of your intentions being clear.
“How about you sit on my lap while I help you? So I can see your face? That should be sufficient payment for the pleasure I will give you, yes.”
You would have jumped over the moon if Flaco had asked you to at that moment, so of course you did what he said and sat in his lap with your legs spread.
You never thought you’d be here, Flaco fucking you with his fingers in his cold cabin (although you felt anything but cold at the moment). You had dreamed of it, sure, but this was real life. You had never considered that Flaco had been attracted to you, but now as you felt his dick strain against his pants, there was no denying it.
Flaco fingered you at different paces depending on what he felt you needed based on your expressions. The higher and more frequent your moans came, the faster he went. When he felt it was becoming too much for you, he slowed down a bit, never losing his rhythm. He didn’t want to overstimulate you, at least this time. Flaco was good at this, surely very experienced, but you tried not to think about that. You focused on the feeling in the pit of your stomach and Flaco’s eyes, which were looking directly into yours. It was a bit intense, but it only added to the experience for you. He seemed to love it, biting down on his lip when you moaned particularly loud. At this point, his fingers were completely slick and you were fucking yourself back and forth on his fingers. The heat in your core was getting more intense and you were becoming desperate. You begged over and over for him to fuck you but he refused.
“No, angel, that is too fast. I have to come up with a way for it to be special.” More special than this? You wanted to protest but he kept fingering you the whole time, bringing you closer to your orgasm the whole time, and you couldn’t find it within yourself to argue back. Besides, a promise to get with Flaco again another time wasn’t so bad.
It didn’t take much longer for you to come undone. Between feeling Flaco’s dick strain against you through his pants and the swift rhythm of his fingers, it wasn’t longer before you threw your head back, moaning his name, and came onto his fingers. He smirked at the scene and kissed you quickly before removing his fingers.
“You were so good mi novia,” Flaco praised you, before adding, “Now put your clothes back on before you catch a cold. You need to stay warm.”
“We can- we’re gonna do this, again, right?” you asked Flaco after you put your skirt and underwear back on and started to walk out the door into the cold.
“Like I could go through this life without having you again. Silly girl.” Flaco told you before picking up a piece of wood off his table and starting to whittle as if nothing had happened.

only the lonely survive // colby brock - chapter four: i don’t blame you for being you
A/N: hey everyone! I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would go ahead and post another chapter. I might post again tomorrow bc this chapter and the next chapter are kinda short for my liking. Idk tho. lmk what you think :)
description of story here
trigger warnings: swearing???, slight (teeny-tiny amount) heartbreak/ache
word count: 1788
After the initial shock of realizing I sung in front of my favorite people without knowing they were there, I was surprisingly able to hold a conversation with all the guys without being nervous.
Maybe I need to break out into song more often.
"Hey Skye, I want to know more about you. Lemme ask you some questions." Brennen jumped in, ending our previous conversation.
I shrugged my shoulders, "Sure. Ask me anything and I'll tell you the truth."
Casey nodded her head, "Yeah. Skye's notorious for telling it like it is. She gets really brutal sometimes."
I slapped her arm, she smacked my thigh back, laughing.
"Okay, then. Now let me think... Let's start with some basic questions. How old are you?" Brennen asked.
"I'm twenty-three. My birthday is September 16th." I smiled.
Corey cheered, "Oooh we got another Virgo in the house!" He raised his hand for a high-five. I smacked it lightly.
"You went to college with Casey, right? What did you major in?" Brennen questioned.
"I studied theater and art." I replied.
"Do you want to be an actress?" Corey responded.
I scrunched up my face. "I don't think so? I have no idea what I want to be. I just want to do something with the arts. That's really the only thing I'm certain about. I studied theater because I love it."
Casey chuckled, "These questions are boring. Ask something a little more... scandalous."
Brennen rolled his eyes, "Okay then. Skye, how many boyfriends have you had?"
Dear God, not this question.
I sighed, "Uh... just one."
Liar.
I looked over at Casey and she smiled sadly.
"Was the break up bad?" Colby asked quietly, chiming in for the first time.
I turned my head to him, "...I guess you could say that."
Colby and I looked at each other until Sam stated jokingly "Thanks for making things awkward, Brennen."
Brennen threw his arms up in protest, and I giggled. "No Sam, it's fine. It was a long time ago, back in like high school. I'm okay. It just didn't end well, like most of my relationships."
Brennen smiled, "Sounds like my love life."
"You have one?" I quipped, smirking.
Everyone responded back, snickering.
"Alright. No need to hurt my feelings, guys." Brennen shushed. "You know," He continued, "my love life has kinda fallen into a slump. Maybe you could help restart it?"
Was he flirting with me?
I held back an eye roll. "Is that what constitutes as flirting out here?"
"Constitutes? Look at you, using your college education!" He exclaimed mockingly.
"Don't get sassy, now. You're the one that started it." I sassed back, standing up to get another drink.
Brennen leaned closer to Colby, whispering loudly "I love when they play hard to get."
I stopped in the doorway, turning back towards the group. "Oh, that's cute."
"What?" Brennen asked, sitting up.
"You think you can actually get with me..." I smiled, cocking my head to the side. I turned back towards the kitchen and left, hearing the boys mock Brennen.
I stepped into the kitchen and sighed. This was a lot to take in.
Brennen weirdly flirted with me. Corey and I are becoming friends. All the guys are super nice. And to top it off, Colby's eyes are like CRAZY blue.
Holy shit, I need to sit down.
I went over to the fridge and grabbed another diet coke. I sat down on the counter and scrolled through my phone, trying to calm down. A message popped up on my screen:
Casey: hey i'm srry that i made brennen ask u about ur dating situation
My 'dating situation' was... not really a situation at all. Because it didn't exist.
I, Skylar Elizabeth Bennett, am twenty-three years old and have never had a boyfriend.
Embarrassed was barely where my emotions started when it came to my dating situation. Growing up, I was always the awkward introverted friend. Because of this, I got ignored a lot. Now, it's not that I didn't try to date guys, I did. But a lot of them shot me down. And I don't blame them. I can't force someone to be attracted to me, and I wouldn't want someone to date me out of pity.
I just feel weird saying it out loud, especially to someone like Brennen who has definitely had multiple girlfriends and hookups, that I had never been with someone. Ever. In like any way, shape, or form.
If God could just send a boy that likes me my way, that would be great.
"Are you hiding from us?" Colby's voice asked, appearing out of nowhere.
I jumped a bit, looking up. He stood in front of me, smiling lightly.
I smiled back, exhaling. "No. I-uh... just needed to get away from all of that. My social meter is reaching its peak."
"Same here. I've been hanging out with Brennen all day and I kinda need some alone time soon. He's been a lot to handle today." Colby chuckled, leaning against the fridge.
"I bet." I replied.
"Oh, I wanted to say I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable when I asked about your break up. It sort of just slipped out." He said, standing upright.
I shrugged my shoulders. "Water under the bridge. Don't worry. The break up was such a long time ago that I don't really think about it. I've had some recent hardships that are little more sensitive."
"I thought you said you only had one boyfriend?" He questioned, squinting his eyes.
I gasped sarcastically. "Have you never heard of unrequited love? It's only one of the most written about subjects in literature, music, ar-"
He cut me off, rolling his eyes and smirking, "Okay, I get it."
"Can I ask you a question?" I pursed my lips, sitting up.
"Sure." He responded.
"How many times have you been in love?" I asked.
He stayed silent for a moment, his shoulders lowering slightly.
"You don't have to say who you were in love with. I understand that's a lot for me to ask." I slid off the counter, standing next to him.
He closed the fridge door, water bottle in hand. "No, it's fine. Um... I've only ever been in love once."
"Was the break up bad?" I whispered, reciting his words.
He smiled, but his eyes dropped, looking down towards the floor. "Yeah. It was pretty bad."
"I'm sorry to hear that." I stated sincerely, stepping closer to him.
He looked into my eyes, "Thanks."
We stayed like that for a moment. Just staring at each other.
"What are you two doing?" Brennen teased, walking into the kitchen.
Colby pulled his eyes away from mine, "Just talking."
Brennen stepped next to him, "You're not trying to steal my girl, right?"
"I'm sorry, in what universe do you think I'm your girl?" I replied, putting my hands on my hips.
"In every universe baby. We're meant to be!" Brennen yelled, pulling Colby towards the garage by his shoulders. Colby laughed, side-eyeing him.
I rolled my eyes and followed in behind them.
/  /  /  /
We all continued hanging out, until the sun started to set. I was starting to get tired, my hours being off before ever leaving Pennsylvania. The jet lag and the craziness of yesterday and today were getting to me and all I could think about was going back to our house and passing out for a bit.
Also, eating my body weight in french fries.
Casey and I started to say our goodbyes to everyone. One of the last people I said goodbye to was Brennen. He smirked as I walked up to him.
"You saved the best for last." He said, opening his arms to me.
I chuckled, "I still have to say goodbye to Colby."
He winced, stepping back, "Trying to get with my best friend? You females are a different breed I'll tell you that."
I turned my head to the side, squinting my eyes, "Just give me a hug before I regret this whole interaction."
He came up close and tightly wrapped his arms around me. He lightly rubbed my back, pulling away a moment later.
"Oh before you do go, can I get your number?" He asked, pulling his phone out.
"Do you honestly think I would give you my number?" I replied, crossing my arms.
He stared at me for a moment, "Yes."
I grabbed his phone and put my contact in. "Now don't use this as a booty call line. I ain't getting out of my bed at one A.M for you, or anybody, for that matter."
"You might want to change the policy when it comes to me. I know how to give you a good time, baby." He smiled, putting his phone back into his pocket.
"I'm good, thanks." I winked.
I started to walk to the kitchen, where Colby was, but I turned back around to Brennen. "By the way, feel free to give that number out to anyone in this house if they ask for it."
"Sure thing, Skye." He called back.
I nodded, heading into the kitchen. Colby was standing in the archway between the kitchen and hallway. He looked up when I walked in, smiling.
"Is this goodbye?" Colby questioned, leaning against the wall.
"I guess so." I mumbled, looking down at the ground.
He slowly started walking me towards the front door, "How long are you and Casey here for?"
"Two weeks. So we have plenty of time to hang. If you want to." I stated nervously.
He laughed, "You think I want to hang out with you?"
I gasped and playfully hit his arm, "Don't be rude to me now."
"I'm just kidding." He put his arms up in defense, smiling.
We both stopped at the door. I could hear Casey coming down the stairs, talking to Corey. I turned towards Colby, opening my arms. He did the same, coming closer to me. I wrapped my arms around him, standing on my tippy toes just to have my chin reach his shoulder. He rested his head lightly against mine. We hugged each other tightly, lightly swaying back and forth.
"Are you ready to go, Skye?" Casey said, walking towards us. Colby and I pulled away.
I nodded my head. She waved goodbye at Colby, going towards the door and opening it. She started walking out. I followed, turning back to Colby, waving at him. He returned the wave.
Casey and I walked to the car and got in. We both sat for a moment, quiet.
"That wasn't so bad, was it?" She asked, smirking towards me.
I sighed, "I guess not."
She chuckled and started the car.

hello i’m arriving to the party an entire day late and this is Not Surprising at All to anybody who knows me slightly well because i’m late to everything. said late writer is ya boy , felix  ! i’m 20, i use he / him pronouns, annnd you don’t wanna know about me, you want to know about actual Nerd incarnate , yongbin .
his stats are here ,  bio is being rewritten because my dumbass deleted it from my drive , and all i have left to say is that you can like this if you want me to message you on here or discord to plot instead, since i’m usually faster on there … usually …
note: talks of surgery / birth defects,  &  kinda nsfw
⦑ felix. / 20. / gmt. / he/him. ⦒ woah ! tell me i did not just see cho yong bin walk past us, they’re the child of the cho family right ? they’re twenty three now, so i wonder if they’re here training to become an anarchist hacker. i heard they’re really intuitive & vexatious, so i’d say stay away from them unless you really wanna try your luck. no wonder they’re so notorious though, with the face of byun baekhyun i’d be interested in them as well. anyway, back to what i was saying. - yongbin, pain in the ass, and his most common sobriquet, zero ( name’s inspired by binary code btw ) , was a self taught anarchist hacker , but he sure as hell hasn’t been doing it for free all this time. he’s immensely adept and writes concise code and thoroughly enjoys annoying people and wreaking havoc in that precise order.
- hacker is kind of a blanket term, bin’s speciality was in blackmail, identity theft, exploiting vulnerabilities in various networks and systems, and causing all sorts of chaos online. when he was younger and before he was intimately familiar with the academy, he offered out his services to online rebel groups ( both good and bad ) and wasn’t officially apart of any system or group.
- this was subject to change a few years later when he was caught out on a slight mistake tracing back to his ip, assessed by an official representative of the school, who was impressed by his abilities and offered him an ultimatum: to join the academy or go to a detention camp.
- behind the screen bin was born with a pretty serious congenital heart defect. he needed surgery to survive, if only temporarily. every ten years or so, he’d have to do the same, with more or less no guarantee that they would all be successful. ( i would like to think that when he joined the academy some sort of technology maestro has helped him w / his respiratory issues so lmk if there’s a potential plot link there )
- bin is also an orphan who went through a very jaded system . he never knew his parents and frankly doesn’t care to know them, but little does he know that they have been tracing him from birth and were the sole reason why he got his place in the first place, ultimately unable to take care of him when their careers, both arms dealers, were too dangerous for a kid. his craft and experiences with life has made him instinctively cynical about his parents’ generation so like.. trusting an institution full of teachers their age was not and would never have been an ‘ideal’ for him.
- his part time job used to be at a pc repair shop and he liked working there a lot, most people would question why he’d ultimately then go on to ruin a life he was happy with just to constantly risk getting into trouble. yongbin’s answer ? Because he’s Chaotic Neutral Thats Why
- socially, surprisingly unlike how most hackers are portrayed as nerds w sellotape on their glasses n a pocket protector ( he has a pocket protector but thats besides the point ) zero is outgoing in school and onwards, liked seeing what other people were interested in, pushing boundaries and keeping up with his friends just by listening and absorbing information.
- he isn’t exactly well liked, because his brain to mouth filter malfunctioned a lot of times which caused friction, But he definitely knows how to make and maintain friendships if you can handle him vanishing off the face of the earth and replying to your text from two weeks ago at 4 am like wyd
PERSONALITY
- zero’s life has mostly been not very fun, and he definitely realises this, but he’s not really the type to sit around and cry about it. mostly, he tries to take it with a stiff upper lip and a good sense of humour. he’s snarky and dry and enjoys getting into cyber-wars with other comp nerds in his limited friendship group. he definitely also enjoys sending lil viruses to other ppl in hearst just to let you know just how much your firewall sucks
- he’s got a real bad habit of getting wayyy in over his head with things. he’s like, a lil bit of a troublemaker — a back-talking, muttering under his breath, sneaking into places he shouldn’t, kind of troublemaker, but nothing too offensive. however, he sometimes gets into Actual Trouble because he makes the world’s worst choices and follows the world’s worst people’s advice. his personal motto is, “oh fuck. why?”
- he can be affectionate and immensely appreciative of anyone who’s genuinely kind toward him, even if his pride won’t let him come right out and say so. he’s p creative and resourceful — definitely can think you out of a pinch, even if he’s not so great at solving his own shit.
- friend wise, he’s attentive and thoughtful; sharp as a tack, funny as anything, and would totally rather help you out with your problems than get into deep discussions about his because opening that big ol book of issues is not gonna be fun for Anybody - romantically he’s inwardly pansexual for a long while but to people around him that probably.. wouldn’t be that big of a surprise. don’t talk to him about real love though he really is a computer machine with 0 emotions in that realm
tinie headcanon list because ive been slowly gathering them in my head for Days
-  has a handful of piercings on his ears , but the one he’s known for most is his labret piercing
- has a chameleon called cookie and donates to a dog shelter wherein his favourite stray dog ( known as flash ) lives. and yes he’s naming them after computer terms. no he wont Reconsider
- proud owner of 1 terabyte of hentai stored on his external hard drive that he’d gladly d*e for n is not ashamed of it in the slightest this zone is kink shame free !!!!
- loves to go exploring around the grimier parts of the academy and places you rlly wouldn’t expect him to be to clear his mind. abandoned classrooms, warehouses, etc.
- talk to him about conspiracy theories about alien life forms for a friend
- has absolutely awful hand eye co-ordination despite it playing in to a big part of their training so just know he’s probably dying first, or just teach him to throw a punch and not somehow hurt himself ? Blease
- sticks his tongue out while he’s hacking or doing anything that requires concentration. can’t multi-task and will ignore everything in his general surroundings to give 110 percent to whatever he’s doing.
- is a scorpio so sorry u cant trust anything he says i dont make the rules the astrological gods do
that’s all i’ve got up to now and i hope this gives you a bit of background into what he’s about. i think i’ll finish here before i write more trash so [ hacker voice ] im out

MBTI Types As: Vonnegut Quotes
Types As: Vonnegut Quotes
To All Types: “We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be.”
– Honestly guys, these are all great quotes that I had the pleasure of procuring. Please give them all a read if you get the chance.
INTJ: “New knowledge is the most valuable commodity on earth. The more truth we have to work with, the richer we become.”
“Say what you will about the sweet miracle of unquestioning faith, I consider a capacity for it terrifying and absolutely vile!”
“If somebody says, ’‘I love you,” to me, I feel as though I had a pistol pointed at my head. What can anybody reply under such conditions but that which the pistol-holder requires? “I love you, too. ”“
INTP: “I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don’t let anybody tell you different.”
“Science is magic that works.”
INFJ: “Evolution can go to hell as far as I am concerned. What a mistake we are. We have mortally wounded this sweet life-supporting planet - the only one in the whole Milky Way - with a century of transportation whoopee.”
“1492. As children we were taught to memorize this year with pride and joy as the year people began living full and imaginative lives on the continent of North America. Actually, people had been living full and imaginative lives on the continent of North America for hundreds of years before that. 1492 was simply the year sea pirates began to rob, cheat, and kill them… The chief weapon of sea pirates, however, was their capacity to astonish. Nobody else could believe, until it was too late, how heartless and greedy they were.”
INFP: “The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake.”
“I don’t plot my books rigidly, follow a preconceived structure. A novel mustn’t be a closed system - it’s a quest.”
ISTJ: “People aren’t supposed to look back. I’m certainly not going to do it anymore.”
“My cash cows, the slick magazines, were put out of business by TV.”
ISTP: “We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.”
“Another flaw in the human character is that everybody wants to build and nobody wants to do maintenance.”
ISFP: “Many people need desperately to receive this message: ‘I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone.”
“A purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved.”
ISFJ: “What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.”
“How embarrassing to be human.”
ENTJ: “There is no reason why good cannot triumph as often as evil. The triumph of anything is a matter of organization. If there are such things as angels, I hope that they are organized along the lines of the Mafia.”
“That is my principal objection to life, I think: It’s too easy, when alive, to make perfectly horrible mistakes.”
ENTP: “The two real political parties in America are the Winners and the Losers. The people don’t acknowledge this. They claim membership in two imaginary parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, instead.”
“Find a subject you care about and which you feel others should care about. It is this genuine caring, and not your games with language, which will be the most compelling and seductive element in your style.”
ENFP: “Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.”
“There is love enough in this world for everybody, if people will just look.”
ENFJ: “The insane, on occasion, are not without their charms"
“There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.“
ESTJ: "People have to talk about something just to keep their voice boxes in working order so they’ll have good voice boxes in case there’s ever anything really meaningful to say.”
“Who is more to be pitied, a writer bound and gagged by policemen or one living in perfect freedom who has nothing more to say?”
ESTP: “Make love when you can. It’s good for you.”
“I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can’t see from the center.”
ESFJ: “One of the few good things about modern times: If you die horribly on television, you will not have died in vain. You will have entertained us.”
“We are impossibly conceited animals, and actually dumb as heck. Ask any teacher. You don’t even have to as a teacher. Ask anybody. Dogs and cats are smarter than we are.“
ESFP: "I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can’t see from the center.”
“Just because some of us can read and write and do a little math, that doesn’t mean we deserve to conquer the Universe. OR “It’s a nice glass of champagne at the end of a life.”
Thanks for reading guys! Hope it was accurate… real sorry if I messed yours up. LMK :/-- TYPES AS FICTIONAL LOCATIONS, COMING SOON.
