I need everyone to meet the kitten im adopting, Augustus. Out of sheer luck I checked the rescue group I was in today and found this little bundle of joy!! His mama sent me pics and a video of him. He's not ready to join me at home yet, he's still too little, but I'll be getting him next month!! I'm so so excited to have him with me 😁

How are your cats?
They're Doing Really Well Actually, They've Been Really Active Lately And My Kittens Have Nice Full Tummies. I'm Excited To See Them When Theyre Grown Cats.
It's Cute Watching Them Race Around The House And The Feeding Frenzy That Ensues When Im Preparing All Their Different Foods And Supplements. I Always Add Salmon Oil And Lysine Into Their Food Its Really Shined Their Fur Up But Theyre Due For A Bath Before The Holidays I Like To Spiffy Them Up.
Oh And My Biggest Cat Draken Just Recently Had A Birthday With His Brother Takemitchy They're Big Boys Now. I Cant Believe Theyre Already A Year Old. I Remember When I Met Them At The Shelter They Both Immediately Got Cuddly And Have Yet To Change Their Desire To Cuddle.
We Accidentally Ended Up With A Lot Of Cats Because A Neighbor Got Into A Mess. After Less Than A Week With Kittens She'd Planned To Adopt She Cried To Me That She Couldn't Maintain Them. I Took Them In I Couldn't Take Them Back To The Shelter It's A Kill Shelter And The Kittens Didn't Even Start In Very Good Condition But I Managed To Turn Them Around.
Anyway Thats How I Ended Up With 10 Cats. My Fiance Calls Me A Bleeding Heart And He's Probably Right But I Cant Turn My Back On Animals In Need.
Anyway My Cats Go:
Rwby - Two Year Old Grey Tabby
Umbreon - One Year Old Tuxedo
Roxas - One Year Old White And Black
Draken - One Year Old Black Cat (Biggest Of His Litter)
Takemitchy - One Year Old Black Cat (Runt Of His Litter)
Mochi - One Year Old Calico (She Was Supposed To Be The Last One Making 3 Girls And 3 Boys.)
Berlioz - Tuxedo Kitten #1
Figaro - Tuxedo Kitten #2
Millie - Black And White Girl
Moxxie - Black And White Boy
Shit Happens We Didn't Expect To Take On So Many But We Roll With The Punches. I Ended Up Having To Return To Work To Help Maintain Them But At Least They're Safe

GANGGANG, alright hi it’s tea and this is shitbags central aka your #1 station for all trash, all the time!!! I already have ( 7 ) fucking muses because I’m a whole ass mess of a person and I’m here for legit any plots I even have a plots tag that I started because.... I wanted to ANYWAY let me give you the rundown on my shitheads alright.
jesus fuckin christ this took way longer than anticipated and some have more information than others rn but i’mma make aesthetic posts for them all later tonight ok :///
Tumblr media
DONALD “DON” O'CALLAHAN looks an awful lot like JUSTIN CHATWIN. HE is THIRTY and while they’re FLIRTATIOUS they have a tendency to be pretty UNFAITHFUL. You’ve probably seen them around Kola listening to ALONE by HALSEY FEAT. BIG SEAN & STEFFLON DON.
so... first things first... he’s in the mafia
but he makes it seem like his life is amazing and he’s some big important CEO ( wow am i the only one getting jimmy/steve vibes already? )
That’s probs because he’s heavily inspired by the character but he is not canon.
He’s FUN and EXCITING and literally brand new i don’t know shit about him besides how he’s gonna act
which is nice and sly and secretive and flirty aight
Tumblr media
IMOGEN WARD looks an awful lot like MADELAINE PETSCH. SHE is TWENTY-TWO and while they’re REBELLIOUS, they have a tendency to get pretty CLUMSY. You’ve probably seen them around Kola listening to REPERCUSSIONS by BEA MILLER
Imogen was a twin sister but her sister died in a haunted house like technically three days ago but we’re gonna pretend like it wasn’t okay
Honestly, she’s loud and exciting most of the time. She’s kind, compassionate, cuddly, sweet and adventureous. It’s just like, too much though. She wilds the fuck out and is constantly go go going like she doesn’t want to stop
she smokes a lot of pot
and she was technically living in a college dorm with her sister but.... she is now officially a college drop out and living back at home
not that she’s ever there tbqfh
She’s got an ex boyfriend that makes her feel a lot of conflicting emotions and will make her REAL WEARY of active relationships because like, STUFF. IM NOT TALKIN BOUT THIS!!!!!!!!
anyway that’s imogen
Tumblr media
JAMES  WILLIAMS looks an awful lot like MILO VENTIMIGLIA. HE is THIRTY-FIVE and while they’re FLEXIBLE, they have a tendency to get pretty AGGRESSIVE. You’ve probably seen them around Kola listening to IROBOT by JON BELLION.
He Was Married to his highschool sweet heart but then one of his younger twin brothers (? does that make sense) died of an overdose and he sort of lost his mind
And the other twin is in and out of jail for drug related issues
He an alcoholic but he doesn’t fuck with drugs
and he’s actually a police officer
just your generic ass cop he wants to get a promotion but he doesn’t see it in his future
he’s nice but it’s VERY EASY to piss him off
Tumblr media
MILO SHEPARD looks an awful lot like NICK JONAS. HE is TWENTY-FOUR and while they’re DISCREET,they have a tendency to get pretty RIGID. You’ve probably seen them around Kola listening to FLARE GUNS by QUINN XCII FEAT. CHELSEA CUTLER ALL THE KIDS ARE DEPRESSED by JEREMY ZUCKER
He’s a foster care social worker meaning he deals with kids who have real fuckin ruff lives okay
He was inspired to join this life because he himself was in foster care for a majority of his life and his case worker basically adopted him when he was fifteen
He’s dedicated his life to giving back like his adoptive father did for him
He has vague memories of his mother but he doesn’t remember much because last time he saw her he was 6
He is constantly busy with cases / children and there’s a strong chance you’ll find him at an ice cream shop with one of the kids he’s working with
oh and he 100% probably has nights where he just stays at the office and lets the kid sleep on his couch because he couldn’t find a foster home
which... u know, with a life this hectic u think he’s ever had any sort of relationship? ha, NO.
Tumblr media
OPHELIA MONROE looks an awful lot like BILLIE LOURD. SHE is TWENTY-FIVE and while they’re FRIENDLY, they have a tendency to get pretty JUDGEY. You’ve probably seen them around Kola listening to THUNDER by IMAGINE DRAGONS
So originally I was gonna have her still living at home and working in a mom n pop shop
but since she’s twenty give I’m actually gonna progress her a little bit
She’s left home and now lives in a little bus that she transformed into her house
It’s literally one of the short yellow buses but painted white and black
She got a whole ass house in there a bed, a kitchen, a table
and her cat
And she’s in Kola just to kind of get out and see what the world is like maybe get a job and move out of her bus bc she’s been traveling the past two years it’s time to settle
She’s probably been here  maybe a few months
Tumblr media
SHANE FRANCIS looks an awful lot like CARLSON YOUNG. SHE is TWENTY-TWO and while they’re ADVENTUROUS, they have a tendency to get pretty DISRUPTIVE. You’ve probably seen them around Kola listening to BETTER DAYS by HEDLEY
OK SO SHANE comes from old money and like you can tell she wears designer and she’s kinda bratty sometimes
but she’s got a good heart like real life
okay no she doesn’t she can sometimes be real bitchy to strangers but the SECOND you get to really know her you know it’s all just a reflex to people trying to get to know her ig??
She loves to give back to charity / work with those less fortunate than her
Whenever she can, ( which is not a lot ) she breaks away from her parents and lives her life how she wants which means partying but, not always, they sort of have her on a tight leash because she has a reputation to uphold
( aka rich spoiled posh ) but Shane doesn’t like this life she wants her own life
Tumblr media
WESLEY LLOYD looks an awful lot like AARON TAYLOR JOHNSON. HE is TWENTY-FIVE and while they’re HARD WORKING, they have a tendency to get pretty OBLIVIOUS.You’ve probably seen them around Kola listening to I’M NOT FAMOUS by AJR.
ALRIGHT so this is, last but not least, Wes Lloyd
At 15 he left home to move in with his grandfather
while there he began rapping with his friends ( hoodie allen vc )
and life was honestly good he was getting good at music and had a girlfriend who he really thought he loved and he was happy
then his girlfriend left him
and his grandfather died
and he was twenty three and miserable
when his grandfather passed he left him a great deal of money and the house he had grown up in. Wes took this time to rebuild the home by hand because that’s what his grandfather would have wanted.
During this time he still wrote music but it was sad ( front porch step vc )
Now two years later, the house is complete and he is living with his best friend in his big ass house and honestly his music career is taking off, especially with the happier, more up beat music he’s creating ( jon bellion vc )
He’s just here for a good time and he wants to LIVE his BEST LIFE

I have a headcanon that Jerry from VT is autistic! Any headcanons about the Veggies you have?
Oh boy,, I have alot of head canons for vt,, but i’ll share a few so I don’t ramble forever
(but then meme proceeded to ramble forever)
-I actually just started talking about this one recently but I gave Larry a three legged black cat named Owl and Archie a Shiba Inu called Margaret (but Larry likes to call her “Marggie”)
-Larry loves taking Owl for walks and playing rough with him (turns out the perfect puppy for Larry was actually a cat)
-Owl has a bell collar
-Sometimes Margaret drives Archie over the edge since Shibas are kinda hard to train (Archie loves Marggie very much and she only drives him over the edge occasionally)
-Marggie has a ring of dark fur around an eye that mirrors her owner’s monocle (i actually dont know if shiba’s fur can do that??? but this shiba’s fur does)
-Marggie also does that tappita-tappita dance when she’s excited, especially when Archie takes her for walks and sometimes he’ll dance with her while walking. (That is quite a sight)
-No matter what year it is Larry knows the most recent memes and the current “cool kid lingo”
-Larry also has a lot of flannel and it wouldn’t be uncharacteristic of him to wear multiple flannels at once no matter how much it clashes (i have alot of larry hcs)
-Larry loves the 70s aesthetic and his favorite colors are purple and yellow (no wonder the LarryBoy costume is so empowering for him…)
-(in a human au) Bob likes to be really active and supportive in progressive movements like BLM and he considers himself a feminist and even wanted to do more vt episodes that focused on girl characters
-(human au again) Bob doesn’t care how he looks too much, he lets his hair be a mess and he dresses in polos every day
-I like to imagine Laura as a tomboy (i dunno if thats canon or not)
-Bob likes to work out and is REALLY strong despite looking like a cuddly teddy bear. (He’s actually a cuddly teddy BRICK WALL)
(i also ship bob and larry and the nicknames i came up with for them to call eachother are “lare-bear” and “squishy”)-Mr. Lunt is kinda lewd and would make vines of himself shouting one profane word in the middle of a public place. this has resulted in him being banned from many stores/restaurants/fast food joints and its very frustrating for everyone. Why won’t he stop??
-Larry sometimes calls Bob “grandpa” because he’s such a weenie (not with the times,,, save him Larry)
-Jimmy and Jerry like making videos like this one http://youtu.be/lrSXTYxecVg
-Mr. Lunt likes to pick on and bother Bob for whatever unexplained reason
-Mr. Lunt and Mr. Nezzer became room mates since a gambling incident (gubbins and i actually came up with this one together) and sometimes Mr. Nezzer tries to dump Lunt on other people (sometimes you just need a Lunt-sitter)
OKAY IM DONE SORRY

Flannery is about to enter her sixth month in OPH care which makes her a ‘long-term dog’.
photo Nancy Slattery
Currently, up to 30% of the dogs on our site are ‘long term dogs’. There’s a reason why each dog got that label and it certainly doesn’t mean those dogs aren’t good dogs.
It’s just means that these dogs don’t fit the cookie-cutter mold of what many people consider a desirable dog. Each of these dogs will need an intentional adopter who is willing to continue training the dog and understand how to manage the dog. This person will need to be patient and loving and committed. He/she will have to respect the dog, listen to the dog, and set the dog up for success.
As I write these words I realize that they describe what every adopter should be doing.
In our fast-paced world where we’re so comfortable outsourcing much of our lives—from meal-planning to lawn care to wine selection, we’d like a new dog to fill our home with love and joy and no extra work or mess. We’re disappointed if the dog isn’t house-broken and crate-trained or pulls on the leash. We expect that the dog will be good with other dogs, tolerant of cats, and friendly with all kinds of people. We want a cuddly dog, who already knows commands like sit and stay and down, and certainly, we can’t have a dog who barks excessively. The dog should have plenty of energy to play, but not so much energy that they bounce off the walls, leap on visitors or tackle the two-year-old. Oh, and the dog needs to be young and cute and just the right size.
Don’t get me wrong there are a few dogs that fit that bill, but truly, most don’t.
Sometimes it’s just a matter of not having been exposed to those things and with the right introduction, training, and patience, many dogs will fulfill those ideals. But some dogs won’t. It could be their upbringing or their breeding, or it could just be the personality of the dog.
[SIDEBAR: And, for the record, how many of us are so perfect?]
I spent nearly a year with my last ‘long-term dog’ and she is still in foster care now with a different foster home, a year later, having been adopted and returned. Gala is a gorgeous girl who tugs on my heartstrings every time I see her face pop-up on Facebook.
The depth of love and smarts in that dog still echoes in my life. She needs the right adopter and it breaks my heart that there has been no one willing to give her a chance in all this time, because landing Gala in your life would be like winning the love lottery, so complete is her devotion.
Flannery, like Gala, can be complicated, but like Gala she is also an absolute love, completely devoted to the people in this family. She has plenty of happy energy and is easy to train, but needs assistance negotiating the human world, mostly because, like Gala, she is so darned sensitive and smart. She notices things that other dogs might not and reacts to people with her whole heart, both traits that can overwhelm her.
For instance, I took Flannery to an adoption event on Sunday in a small, busy, crowded pet store. She did really well for the first twenty minutes.
Flannery is a small dog and couldn’t see beyond the piles of cat trees, people legs, and store shelves that surrounded her.
Consequently, each new person surprised her and this was terribly exciting. Her tail was on full speed wag and it was all she could do to give me a few ‘sits’ as I tried to distract her from the activity and dogs around her. Her adrenaline sky-rocketed when two little boys approached and she slathered them in kisses, leaping up again and again for attention, before collapsing in a puddle beside them.
youtube
Eventually, though, the high energy and stress of meeting person after person got to her. She grew tired of the constant hands reaching for her and began to growl a low warning. That was my cue and we made a hasty exit. I knew she wouldn’t take her fear any further, as long as I heeded her request.
That growl said, “I’ve had enough. Even though I know this is all terribly exciting and part of me wants you to rub my belly and let me lick your face, the other part of me is overwhelmed by processing so many sights and sounds and smells. I need a break.”
The pictures and video of Flannery’s time at the event all document a happy little pup, lapping up the attention, but had we stayed much longer the pictures would have shown a much different dog. Because I know Flannery and because I listened to Flannery, we came home and had a perfectly pleasant rest-of-the-day.
So, is Flannery people friendly?
Absolutely. But Flannery has a limit to how much stimulation she can process. Flannery will need an adopter who knows this about her and who will listen to her when she’s had enough.
I think adopting a dog is a bit like getting married. You choose your dog/mate because you love this other soul, but you know (or should know) going in that there will be times when you will not love everything about the dog/mate and you will need to take a step back and figure out how you can help them and how you can co-exist.
Maybe your mate doesn’t like a houseful of noisy guests, maybe that stresses him/her out. So, it works better for you to meet your friends out at a bar or to go away for a weekend together. This doesn’t mean that your mate doesn’t like you to have friends, it just means you need to be respectful of your mate’s needs. Because your mate can tell you these things, it’s clear when change is necessary.
[SIDEBAR: When your mate doesn’t tell you these things, the car can begin to go off the rails…]
This works the same way with your dog. Maybe your dog finds meeting new people stressful, so you crate your dog when friends come over. You let your dog hear, smell, even see the people, but you don’t force your pup to meet them. Maybe your pup will be ready to meet them after the hype of entry has ended, maybe not. This does not mean you don’t have a good dog, it simply means you are being respectful of your dogs’ needs.
Sadly, the high number of long-term dogs in OPH care is a reflection of the fact that few people are willing to figure out how to manage a dog that acts outside the boundaries of what we expect. Dogs are not machines, though, and even the easiest dog needs your respect and effort. They love us with such complete devotion and in return deserve our respect and willingness to adapt to their needs.
The amazing thing about both Flannery and Gala is that neither really needs that much management, and the unbridled devotion you receive in return is off the charts. Both of these girls are funny, smart, quirky dogs who will adore their ‘person’ until the end of time. Once more, they both make exceedingly entertaining company.

OPH has begun exploring ways to better market our long-term dogs to help them find their forever families. They are offering more free training, more support, longer trial adoptions, even reduced fees for these special dogs. We want adopters to know that we will not desert you once the adoption takes place—we are invested in your success and the dog’s.
Finding homes for long-term dogs is a challenge that all rescues and shelters face. It’s a problem that only grows as we strive for a no-kill nation. Saving all the dogs, including the ones that a little more complicated will require effort and education and adopters who are open to a dog that is not a cookie-cutter pup.
And the thing I know, that all of us who have fostered a long-term dog know, is that the risk an adopter might feel they are taking in adopting one of these pups, is not a risk at all because all these dogs need is a little understanding and in return you’ll get a lifetime of love.
The bottom line when it comes to dogs and to marriage and to life is this – the more time and love and effort you invest, the bigger the payoff.
If you’re ready to make an investment, you can find Gala, Flannery, and many more incredibly amazing and absolutely adoptable dogs at OPHRescue.org.
