found out about handshake domains, got really excited about it, then learned that there's absolutely no transparency and they run on proof of work versus proof of stake (which isn't much better but at least the power consumption is lower there)

#i mostly just wanted a custom tld honestly and then it turns out that it sucks... like...#i find that its incredibly suspect to write a whitepaper about your fintech startup and then not tell people about the cost of electricity #for using your servers and services lol #they did mention that they have asics for mining tho which is. hmm not great #so so funny that namecheap AND porkbun bought into this shit though #porkbun DOES have a massive disclaimer on their page for em that says buy at your own risk and no refunds if you get scammed #namecheap on the other hand went like full fanboy #anyway i looked at their subreddit and everybody is talking like theyre in a cult #its unnerving #i dunno if i wanna play ball with this shit on the concept that its just.. another crypto scam #but having a funny lil .jpg domain is calling to me
