Look, I think it's gonna be okay but I just want this on the record:
I am still highly salty over Captain Shaw dying in Picard S3. So if Rayner doesn't make it through Discovery S5? I am gonna be annoyed.
#there's no obvious warning signs per se#like with poor shaw I knew we were gonna be in trouble#in the episode no win scenario when shaw has that little growth arc while working with seven#but he still was calling her hansen by episode's end#so I was like ah man he's a goner#(because they were clearly saving up the moment he finally calls her seven to happen during his heroic death scene [tm])#(and we can talk some other time about my issues with his heroic death scene [tm])#so there isn't really anything like that going on with rayner's arc#(I mean I had a slight conniption during labyrinths with the whole - I'm gonna need all the time you can give me / you got it - exchange)#because that seemed ~ominous~#but then it was okay#so like yeah I don't see the signposts of a redemption by death arc#but it's always dangerous to be a one-season main character#so I am just saying#if Rayner dies I will be DISPLEASED#that is all#commander rayner#captain shaw#st picard#st discovery#discovery spoilers
