FFxiv Write 2023 Master list

Had not done continuous chapters in years. Took on this challenge to use some of the notes, partially done fics, scene descriptions in my notebooks. Had to go short story and summary/narrative (?) format due to lack of of a coherent chapter transition point and there being other little scenes in between those as well -_-'

If anything I cleared out a good chunk of my notes. Though some like Mor Dhona Days(ARR, EW 6.0 and 6.1) and Road to recovery stuff(EW between 6.0 and 6.1) still have bits and pieces coming out of the woodwork -_-'

✍️ WRITING HAND — what is one thing you wish you were better at? this can be a tactical skill, social skill, hobby, etc. "Well, oh, since I saw Cocoa lately, I just can't help but think that it would be cool to learn how to do magic just for fun. I do lots of magic for fighting...and even, some stuff for dancing and music, but I mean, enchanting and art the way Cocoa does it? That would be cool."

2. Is your OC a loner or a social butterfly? Are they satisfied with how they come across to other people? Raina: She is typically pretty reserved and is satisfied being that way. Cass has brought her out of her shell a little bit, but she largely content holding a few dear friends close to her heart. She has incredibly sensitive ears that hurt when there is too much noise, so she naturally tends to seclude herself a little bit. But she still finds that she longs for social interaction. It's just usually limited within her small circle. Cassian: Of the three of them, Cassian is definitely the social butterfly. He is warm and friendly and can start a conversation with just about anyone. Y'shara: Shara is most definitely a loner and happy to be one. She keeps company with her sister and Thancred, and that's about it. And even then, sometimes it seems like she can barely tolerate them. She has a general distaste for people particularly in large groups all at once and at least ACTS like she doesn't care about how people view her. (Don't tell anyone, but she cares more than she would like to think she does)

Emmanellain for the character meme?

How I feel about this character:

Lowkey one of my favorite side characters from Heavensward and in the game period. Not long ago I started a NG+ of HW and was absolutely gobsmacked by him because I'd forgotten just how far he's come since we first met him in Fortemps Manor cracking wise about WoL doing their errands and Edmont admonishing him for it. He's hilarious ofc but like all of my faves (and especially the Ishgardians), he's got hidden depths and layers to him that you would never suspect at first glance. As much as I affectionately clown him for being a dumb twink, Emm really is extremely capable in his own way and I love that his strengths have gotten to shine in the Firmament and other minor quests, like the Weaver one where he's meeting with the Hingan dignitaries. He may not be a badass knight like his brothers but he's every bit as much an asset to House Fortemps, even if he had to do a lot of learning and growing to get there. It only made me love him more, watching him grow from an immature and somewhat spoiled and ignorant young noble cowering in the shadow of his brothers to the man who volunteered for the Grand Melee and took command of Camp Dragonhead (something that happens even in my verse, where Haurche survives).

All the people I ship romantically with this character:

Basically this started because they were tipsy and found themselves making out in a dark corner of Durendaire Manor at a midwinter masque because Janne thought he was cute if a little dumb and Emm was thirsty. And in my hc, once the Athenaeum really seizes onto Sharlayan astrology, Astrologians trained in the Sharlayan methodology are deployed with the Temple Knights and also the High Houses' knightly companies, so it gives Janne an excuse to visit Emm at Camp Dragonhead. But they legitimately have a lot in common and would have a ton of things to talk about and would be genuinely fond of each other I think.

(in my hc Lanaiette is 100% a hard Kinsey 6, Emm is barking up the wrong tree and the gag is he's literally the last to know)

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

Emm is the little brother Gisele always wanted and never had. She was very exasperated by him at first, but they got to be fast friends in spite of that. It helps that they're both extroverted social butterflies. But Emm's responsible for a lot of the atelier's success, owing to his encyclopedic knowledge of who's who in the Pillars. He adores her and very much sees her as a sister and the feeling is mutual. Honoroit was the ringbearer at the wedding entirely because it was Emm's idea (though Honoroit did it gladly, because of his own genuine fondness for the ot4).

Tataru for the gossip exchange; between the two of them they probably knew everything going on in Ishgard, on both sides of the stairs. I hc that even after the Scions leave Ishgard (well, except Gisele), Emm is her most valuable contact there and they regularly stay in contact. They are genuinely fond of each other and are known to have a pint or two at the Forgotten Knight, still.

Jandelaine, for similar reasons. In my hc Emm got to know him through Gisele and they became very fast friends. When they get together it's basically Watch What Happens Live: Ishgard Edition.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

I don't especially fault him for what happened at Falcon's Nest during the summit. Emm was dreadfully inexperienced and woefully unprepared to deal with the realities of command, and we know from previous experience he cracks easily under pressure--just like with the Vanu Vanu when Haurche and WoL had to bail him out of trouble. His reaction was definitely whiny and immature, and imo Thancred was well within his rights to pop him in his mouth for it even if it was imo less about Emm's actions and more about his shitty words striking a particularly raw nerve in Thancred, because of how much the latter had been beating himself up over what happened to the Scions and specifically Minfilia.

What I don't like is seeing him defined by this singular ignoble moment, especially when he clearly learned and grew from his mistake. He's not nearly as airheaded as he puts on.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

I want to actually see him at work as Commander of Camp Dragonhead; we know Aymeric has been reaching out to the Ixal in Coerthas and Natalan is a stone's throw away from the fortress. Don't get me wrong, I adored seeing him in the Firmament quests, especially the one in Ul'dah, but I would like to see that other side to him too.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Quick(ish) Summary As Told By Someone Too Lazy To Recheck Exact Times/Things

1.0- We don't talk about it

A Realm Reborn (ARR)- for some strange reason the world got like, completely blown up 5 years ago, crazy! You are some dumb kid from nowhere in particular, with nothing but the clothes on your back and a weapon that is little more than a chunk of wood, or a book. Possibly just your fists. You have got 50 levels and a shitload of lore to get through until you reach the first expansion.

Essentially: you don't have enough money for chicken nuggets, your fashion game is nonexistent, and every high level player calls you a sprout and exhibits Concern about your every action (they mean well).

Garlemald bad, Ascians bad, Eorzea uhhh trying to be good but kinda racist/capitalist/pirates with a history of colonialism, Coerthas is French Catholic and in the Crusades with the dragons. Hydaelin... good? Confusing, for sure, often referred to as Mother in text. Primals bad and scary, but fortunately you are immune to their mind-fuckery techniques thanks to Crystal Mom and surprisingly good at kicking their asses. Garleans mad that you ""savages"" keep killing Primals, despite having a whole mandate against Primals and Primal summoning. Ascians mad that you keep killing Primals because Ascians are dicks. People die, there is an amnesia plot, some annoying twerp is annoyingly right about a lot of things and also you can't get rid of him, Moogles, possession, fucking Ancient Aliens Allagans (if it's a problem in ARR, it's Ascians or Allagans aight), and hey ho you go and kick Garlean asses until they throw a giant machine at you that they stuffed full of Primal juice. Such devastation-!

Then there is the slightly post ARR stuff, where we're still level 50-ish but not really into the next expansion. So basically, we meet Dragon Dad who slaps Crystal Mom's blessing off of you to build character, Ascians are once again dicks, Who The Hell Names These Things, wow Lysanderoth you're definitely not suspicious at all, and our annoying twerp is dabbling in politics and for some reason you're getting fond of him?? Just in time for...

Heavensward (Lvl 50-60)- Congratulations, you are now an enemy of the state! We return/flee to French Catholic Coerthas/Ishgard, where we get to room with our Dear Friend, Haurchefant.

Don't mind how all the high leveled players have started crying. This expansion is emotionally devastating, has a great storyline, and also features canonical consensual dragon vore as a plot point. You know that tweet that's all "Church bad because they won't let you fuck dragons"? Yes, that's Heavensward. You will still cry. We embark on an epic road trip with the annoying twerp (ft his existential teenage crisis), a famous dragon killer and sadboi, and a famous lady who advocates peace/fucking dragons. Somehow, none of you kill each other. Instead, you murder a weirdly attractive bug-man with good music and a desire for violence, a giant flying whale, and some old dudes. You also beat up the same Ascian from the first bit, again. And again, in his final(?) form. Dragon Dad has come along to watch your progress, and also check on his kids cause he's actually, y'know, the entire progenitor of the dragon race. Wow! His family is very sad, mostly. But he does like you, so hey, he can adopt you and have one kid that turned out ok and happy! Hahahahha there's no therapists in Eorzea :')

Then we get to deal with "Hey we ended your like 500 year+ Crusade and kind of upended your social structures, y'all good?" (no), something something Warriors of Darkness, something something Urianger sus, then ALISAIE JOINS THE PARTY. I love her ok, let me have this. She's the annoying twerp's twin, and she's more inclined to hitting things that politics and philosophy. She's also kind of crushing on you. Also Minfillia kinda fucks off to nowhere, which is weird, b/c she has been Important but also Not Involved with the plot for like. 8 years.

Stormblood (Lvl 60-70)- Return of Lysanderoth! Briefly. Before he fucks you over, again. And a bunch of other people, honestly. But hey, this puts Eorzea in open contention with Garlemald for the first time in years, instead of them hovering in an uneasy cold war. For the first goddamn time in the game, you canonically get your ass kicked. Hard. So hard you decide fuck it! And go overseas to Fantasy Japan/China to visit some nice people you helped out earlier. You get catfished. You meet a weeb. There's some pirates, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There's Ravana take 2, this time in a slightly more 'Forever 21' phase. Wild, young, free, REJOICE.

You attempt to inspire rebellion (since your character doesn't talk much, this is quite difficult). Garleans crack down, and hey look, the dude who kicked your ass is back! Prince Zenos Yae Galvus, as by this point you've hopefully learned, even if you're bad with names like me. He kicks your ass again, but this time we break his helmet, and wait shit is he... kind of hot? Maybe? Fuck?? He pins you to a wall and tells you to find him later, it's all confusing and prompts strange butterflies in stomachs. (Side note: as a lesbian, I am making some assumptions here. Mostly based off of how I reacted to the idea of Tsukuyomi doing the same. Mm.)

Then he promptly fucks off, and to work off that sexual tension you square up and work with local friends on Rebellion! You get help from some neighboring nomads after proving you're cool enough to tame a bird, and this proves enough to free the area from Garlean control (for now). We go back to Eorzea, and prepare to kick Zenos' head in. He's playing hard to get though, so we gotta get through some other folks, learn hard lessons about war/colonization, and feel bad. AND THEN WE KICK HIS- oh no wait. Is he... coming on to us again? Oh jesus man, get a therapist, oh my god, this is awkward for us both. Turns out he's kinda depressed and just wants you. To fight him. To the death. There is some bullshittery and he becomes dragon. Fails to kill you, so he kills himself. (Spoiler: it doesn't stick)

The Garlean Empire is now pissed off at you, and Eorzea in general. Everyone is kung-fu fighting, but oops, Garlemald is preparing to commit ~war crimes~! Someone is doing something weird, which is making your Scion friends fall into comas, which is both very convenient and highly inconvenient, cause all of you are kinda needed right now! Zenos, or something in his body, is causing trouble as well. Look, even when we thought he was dead he was causing trouble.

Shadowbringers (Lvl 70-80): We find out what's been making our friends pass out- someone from another dimension has been trying to yoink you over to them, and like all attempts at using the Rescue spell, it just sometimes leads to hilarious accidents. In this case, some epic lag, so although your friends have only been out of it for a week or two at most, they've been in this other world for 5 whole years in some cases. Turns out, Garlean war crimes are all an Ascian plot (what isn't, by this point), and mysterious Crystal Exarch is hoping you can save this world and your own.

At this point, Yoshi P, the lead developer, pulls out a gun and asks if you've been doing all those side-quests and optional 48 man raids. He worked very hard on those, you know. He put in lots of lore. Then he asks if you remember all those dangling plot hooks from previous expansions. We're addressing a lot of those. And adding more. You are sweating and nodding frantically while scrolling a wiki on your phone.

You get to feel like you're in an Otome game, because there's two dudes being weirdly polite and interested in you, but also real snappish to each other in terms of "fuck off she's mine". Alisaie and Alphinaud off-screen character development. Urianger still sus. Thancred now a dad? Y'shtola still so good. A lot of things happen, and you get progressively sadder as the expansion goes on. You get a nice, great big burst of hope and love, and then SOMEONE is a DICK with a GUN. (It is not Yoshi P.)

Now you just feel bad. Your character feels bad. This is all build up for the A) some motherfucking revelations and B) the utter catharsis of "If you could take one more step... would you?" "What, all by myself?" "THROW WIDE THE GATE"

I have shed legitimate tears over Shadowbringers ok, between the music, story, and pacing it is an Experience. Oh my god tho, all the music from Shadowbringers is so good. La-HEE

Prompt #15: Portentous

 Note - post ARR Thancred and Cid short that finally got transcribed 

“Master Cid!!” A cheery voice called out from the entrance of his lab. Cid raise a hand, signalling his guest to wait, he had to ensured his machinery had the right connection fixed before he could properly attend to his guest. Satisfied with his work, Cid turn to his visitor.

The pale hair young man was the one that Hylnyan had hauled out of the Castrum in that explosive castrum raid. That he had remained at the door instead of inviting himself in made Cid take note of his sensibility, he was taking in the sights of his lab. That sharp mind likely accounting for what can be used or what to be wary of.  

“Master Thancred, what brings you here?” “Please. Thancred will do.” A disarming smile. “Cid then.” “Cid. Is Hylnyan here? Wedge mentioned you both were working on a project when they left.” The inventor was scrunching his face in thought, mumbling with barely audible thoughts, the rogue was studying where his line of sight landed. A round table in a corner with empty food packages and empty cups. Crates at the opposite side, the round table again but this time with further puzzlement before his attention skipped to the bottom of the table at the far end.

What few words the rogue caught seems to indicate that her magitek reaper with the tracker was still in the hanger.

“Master Cid!!! The lab door swish open. The youthful voice of a half grown Elezen boy ushered in their visitor. “Have you seen Hylnyan?” the lad practically stomped in like a storm. It almost made Cid twitch with anxiety. “Master Alphinaud, I pray that you be more aware of your surroundings in unfamiliar workshops? For your own safety if not others.” Cid voiced his dissatisfaction as he waved at the lab as an indication; it was his lab after all.

“Of course. My apologies. Thancred, if you find Hylnyan, get her ready for the meeting.” A non-committal nod answered the boy. Frowning they watched the boy leave, he had interrupted Cid’s line of thoughts before he could process it further. Something about the way that boy behaved bothered them.

It took a few more moments of thinking before Cid led the rogue to the round table where refreshments were kept. Some crates beside it had form a little alley way with the wall. Nestled within a pile of fabric was their sleeping Miqo’te. “There you are.” Thancred cooed fondly, squatting down to pull more fabric over the sleeping huntress.

“You were looking for her? Is it urgent?” Cid had an inkling that it might be for the same meeting. “Nothing that could not wait another three bells.” The smile was impish “Would you like a tour of my lab till then?” An equally conspiratorial tone enquired “Why not? Lead the way.”

Prompt #10: Extra Credit - Envoy – Taking Inventory 4, the wordy version

Note - post ARR social butterfly Thancred in the kitchen fluff

Of vegetables being chopped, from the sizzling of stir fry in cast iron pan to the bubbling of stew in the cauldron. The kitchen was much busier now with the inclusion of Doman refugees.

Ingratiating himself with the men folk had been easy, another pair of capable enough hands was always useful with the building and carrying. His ability to grasp the Doman language made him a welcomed translator, even though he wasn't the only one picking up the language.

That various folks had recognised him as being close to the Antecedent and the amicable young huntress was an added bonus, all the more helpful in passing along words that other ears are not meant to privy to.

Some of the women folk however were wary of his easy charms, even when he was not actively using his good looks. But the fact that he respected their boundaries and the young huntress was comfortable around him, made him tolerated in the kitchen at best. And he was not willing to lose the privilege of kitchen access.

Mostly he visited the kitchen to help with deliveries, he stayed out of the busy women's way by planting himelf at the less used side counters of the kitchen. They would call for him if they need him to taste this or fetch that. But mostly he watched contentedly from his side.

Hylnyan was a welcomed sight in the kitchen, though her own recipes was limited to simple stews and roasts of the camp fire. Her constant contributions of meat, vegetables and fish was greatly appreciated. Mor Dhona was close enough to her usual hunting and trading grounds to help the Scions set up a few supply links.

The lovely F'lhaminn had hit it off with the reserved Higiri, the fair hair songstress was another who was picking up the Doman tongue. A shared interest in experimenting with flavours had bonded the two.

Once in a while they would turn to him, Higiri explaining in her native tongue and him translating. Sometimes Minfilia was with them helping the women to jolt down recipes if not tasting this or that for her foster mother.

To see mother and daughter reunited and Minfilia'a agenda moving forward with the aid of the young huntress. Perhaps it was a sign of more fruitful things to come. And like him, Hylnyan has an appreciation of this simple domestic scene. Perhaps a reminder of another life led. Something for him to keep in mind.

He passed Hylnyan a rice ball that he had been molding into the supposed visage of a moogle. Meeting her approval as she attempted to shape rice balls in the likeness of a spriggan. Higiri had taken to the idea that making animal shaped rice balls for the children and the folks working outside would do to lift up spirits.

And thus it got the children excited to see rice balls in the shapes of moogles, spriggans, chocobos and cats. The added wonder in the young ones’ voices as Hylnyan describe her run in with moogles and spriggans, followed by a rather silly song about a moogle primal.

May it be a sign of more fruitful things to come.

Social butterfly Thancred tales came from the realization that the time when F'lhaminn join up might be the happiest Thancred had been, what with WoL helping to push Minfilia's progress. The potential to (re)start something with F'lhaminn.

Of overworked lady and other Sharlayan through MSQ

On one hand I want to mess with the Sharalyan eggheads for being obsessed with their research by delaying their quest as long as possible... and then overworked lady mention Ragnarok ....and it became difficult to be mean to that batch at least... there are still some decent folks on this island I guess.

ARR (Can't remember if they mentioned being from there) Papalymo - strangely not very familiar and not interact with Recruiter no.2 much. Typical older coworker vibes Yda - Is she considered a Sharlayan? She has on-off days Y'shtola - aloof, lacks empathy, too bossy (unwillingness to help with physical stuff during Feast of Titans to blame. Tis a test for WoL as well as the people who WoL works for). Rude awakening when the Archer Guild and Alpa's Miqo'te team have better chemistry than MSQ Miqo'te. tsunderes are difficult to work with especially when one does not wish to become the next pair of Matoya and Y'shtola Thancred - the babysitter turned mentor turned brother-in-arms. Does he spend enough time in Sharlayan to count? His social butterfly empathy(Wol vs Hoary) shines bright when in a bunch of aloof scholars. Urianger - distant, weird guy that is involved in too many plots to trust him. Difficult to like Moenbryda - Hardly know her, some party gal

Heavensward Krile - You guys are big on this aloof arm's length thing Matoya - I see why Y'shtola turns out the way she did. But how is it that you're more likable than Y'shtola?

Stormblood Alisaie - Are you sure you grew up with Alphinaud? Which parent did your empathy comes from or did Grandpa Lou's good genes skip a generation? Dangit girl stop hiding behind Alphi you done much good(Shb) if not more.

Shadowbringer Fourchenault - I see where Alphi gets his attitude from

Endwalker Ameliance - So that's where Alisaie's good influence comes from. Claudien - As long as you don't Heart of Sabik round 3 by accident. You're weird but ok. Still have to check on you since you're like Gaia in a sense. Folks with this type of extra "lives" needs a support group of sorts (Hylnyan made one and remains contactable for anything Claudien wish to know about Erich or folks like themselves)

The Stormblood Sisterhood.

One of the thing I like most in Stormblood was dumping Alphinaud and running away with Lyse and Alisaie. And Hylnyan had to be without her big bro Thancred. A sisterhood of sorts formed and eventually added Yugiri, Cirina and Sadu to the mix. And then got absorbed into her main Sisterhood (Leih, Tataru, Lucia)

Hence the Stormblood Sisterhood ran amok At least there was Hien to provide eye candy. Granpa Gosetsu and Grandma Temulun to keep everybody in check.

Lyse (25~), Hylnyan(22~) and Alisaie (16~).  Yeah ~ish, almost a year but not quite in Hylnyan’s timeline.

As a younger sibling, I’m partial to younger siblings wanting to break out of their elder sibling’s shadows and be known for their own worth, not the good or bad their elder sibling turned out to be.

As a Gridanian starter, Hylnyan has no idea who Yda is. Her recruiters dumped her on Thancred the moment they returned to the Waking Sands. And then “Lahabrea sensei has entered the building.” not long after.

On this I thought Lahabrea sensei watches from behind Thancred’s eyes. Thancred was unable to articulate what exactly is wrong with himself, might have slight but futile resistance. Lahabrea sensei may had to mentor Hylnyan whenever she pops into Waking Sands unannounced and before he can return control to Thancred without giving the game away.

So returning to the Waking Sands, with the aloof Y’shtola who behaves like Hylnyan needed to earn her praise to get her attention(prickling attitude, boundaries needed before a catfight happens) which became a major turnoff by Feast of the Titans. And the only other Moon Miqo’te was the very quiet Tajih Mewrilah who’s probably on a polite coworker vibe. Yda had weird moods that went all the way to 2.5 at least to me.

There was this weird co-dependency thing with Papalymo and one or two characters(Thancred and Moenbryda) that cause Yda to be switch on(be interactive enough for fic ideas / headcannons to float? ) or switched off and be by herself. And that was who Yda was to me. something was wrong but what?

How much of the things she does was for the sake of taking on her sister's identity? Does hanging out with B team remind her of her sister or was she using them to hide herself?

It felt like she needed someone to tell her who she’s supposed to be. I can’t picture them hanging out until Thancred probably drag everybody for a Hoary vs Hylnyan showdown(again Thancred in his social butterfly form).

All this before Hylnyan learn close quarters combat. Once Yugiri joined in, it became Parkour training session in Mor Dorna for the physical DPS folks. See how the magic folk got left out, unless you're Coultenent or Alisaie.

And then the Bloody Banquet happened and it took Balsar’s wall that the weird co-dependency thing got addressed. Hylnyan had no anger against Lyse since she hardly knew Yda.

Then Stormblood gave me Lyse and Alisaie, the younger sisters traveling together. Both of them willing to help with the busywork, sharing the chores of finding Kojin underwater breathing prayer materials. Yugiri not being the bossy elder sister. Cirina is one of us younger girls. Sadu was over enthusiastic but more manageable than Zenos. There was no big sibling character shooting the younger ones down.

Alisaie presented herself as being much more people aware and sensible than her brother. Lyse was growing up as well. Hylnyan was practically supporting their growth using her own lessons as a hunting Miqo’te to train young Miq’ttens since she’s known as one of the better hunters.

Hylnyan treats Alisaie as someone to mentor like she does Ryne (paying back Thancred for his guidance), while Alphinaud was a total babysitting job and would charge Fourchenault accordingly (Tataru’s rules). Stormblood was the girls road trip when your WoL happen to be female. Bonus points for being younger siblings’ trip.

This is what I like about Stormblood. The little siblings are coming out their elder siblings shadows(if you include Meteor and Ardbert as Hylnyan’s big bros). Lyse felt more like a friend and close ally than Yda ever was.

Yes and for Temulun for providing one of my fave lines of guidance. Inb4 Vritra's line about threads of the fate that are bound to the WoL, unsure when was Shepard to the Stars.

My WoL's codename is Lutebow Coeurl to match her Dark knight's current Lvl 50 theme. Lutebow Gaelicat seems kinda too cute. So It was either that or Lutebow Miqo'te. Thanks Ocelot! That skypirate/cryptlurker coat finally comes in handy now. Gaius are you channeling Ocelot? or Big Boss in one of the MGS I can't play?

Was thinking of going Raiden what with all my Ironworks and Scaevan gear usually kept for the Castum based battles, but it was standing out too much for the Garlean aid theme, the concept behind it was "Out of contol lightup Magitek armour running amok, scares Garleans more than spikey goth armour" Will have to apologise to Cid for using his tech to scare people.

I even prepared an outfit for Zenos and it ain't even Nanomachines. Everybody is getting Ocelot gear because its just easier when I can't Raiden and Nier denied me Liquid's coat.... Excuse me while I check the chance of Zenos-WoL getting a Liquid theme outfit.

Since Metal Gear was English to me. I'm not using the JP cast for this trip. Unless we can Ghost in the shell?

I don't feel like bullying Emmanellain, the whole Ala Mihgo gathering, it felt like Thancred was staring at Emmanellain. I have this headcannon that because of how cleaned up and suave Thancred now looks, Emmanellain does not recognised him but is mildy wary of Thancred.

And what with Emmanellain trying to hide behind WoL/looking for a friendly face. His brother's friends Aymeric and Estinien are probably too intimidating for him. He knows he out of his league in a room full of badasses. He may be an idiot but he's her idiot brother now.

Thancred, being Thancred the social butterfly that I know him to be since ARR. Drawing in G'raha to the team(also possibly why Urianger sticks to him, post ShB shitstorm) and Estinien has no complaints. He's in charge of the socially awkward people. So him, Lucia, Yugiri and Riol makes up quite a big intel network. Lahabrea picked the right guy to possess after all.
