Fantasy art + old paintings makes me feel nauseous just imagining walking through the fields or on the mountains or the possibilities of there being life beyond what is shown. Like everything looks large but is so small. When I was younger my mother had a painting of a waterfall in a leafy place; I would dream of being in that painting and feeling stuck- like everything was so large yet the scenery looked so small and close- there would be the thought of life but the inability to leave the painting- or at least not the foliage and reflections.

#hard to walk and felt like hiding despite the scenery being calm in nature #sometimes I feel similarly with videogames looking out into the out of bounds/of of the map #where it’s just empty space/fields/dunes/waves #the closest thing I feel outside of dreams/thoughts and in reality is looking around me and wondering if a certain place/thing had ever-#been touched or walked on #like rocks or the tops of trees or each square foot of grass or forest #or when I see videos of what seems like the most beautiful place on earth which makes me want to cry if not die #not in a depressing way just a sudden need #sometimes I feel sick just imagining Not being able to touch/know/see everything (awake or dreaming)#delete l8r #just adding: another part of the paintings that makes be sick is just how smooth fantasy art is #like how it’s almost blurred gradients of shadows and colours #I cannot imagine the cracks in stone or grit of the earth when I see it; it feels suffocating #besides that it is also really nice and I would like to one day get good at the fantasy/retro/almost realistic art style #and landscapes
