As Kabuto leans back, feeling the train’s movements, his eyes flit to a young girl. The sight of her makes him sit up straighter, makes him cock an eyebrow with concern.

It’s always odd, to see other people awake as the same time as he is. He works at a morgue, after all, and that means late hours and few companions - least of all a child, who he’d assume would have no business here, without a parental figure to watch over her.

“Aren’t you a little young to be taking this train? You’re not lost, are you?”

“ ... I know.” He slips an arm protectively around her waist - he can’t help it - glancing back at their costumed stalker. One could make the argument that it’s simply a trick-or-treater walking in the same direction, but for ten blocks, at the same distance apart? Highly unlikely.

Kabuto adjusts his glasses, glancing towards the subway system entryway they are nearing. It could be risky to run through, catch a ride, head towards the hospital - he’s sure the lead doctor will let them in - but -

No, no. It is risky. Suppose they’re caught alone?

“There’s a few shops open around here, yes? Perhaps we could duck inside one.”
