cheeky as ever, grin's lux not as bright as it could've, should've, been. exhaustion takes it's toll, as does loss; tax was collected with no regard to the consequences. but then again, they knew it would be. all of them, good and bad alike. the risk was big and the risk was death. at it's lowest, injury. both unpleasant to the extreme, and avoided at most causes.

cold sigh leaves warm lips, the disappointment of the soft order she gave fitting the quietly broken landscape. wind whispers against his ears, whistles sharply against his head, snaps against his face, rudely disturbs his peace. but it’s helpful in reminding him that he doesn’t have all day to stand and study widow.

 " what if i wanna stay here? " with you?

somber eyes fall beyond her, soft and glazed with thought as they recall their situation's gravity. his fading grin falters further upon her gentle touch, hand instinctively squeezing back. lúcio sighs for the second time, head pounding against his skull; a painful reminder that his body had a limit. 

" not like we would be. ..but yeah, i don't. "

“ Your memory? How? That's great- ”

 Eyebrows furrowed upon seeing her expression, piercing brown orbs locked onto pale blue skin in a mix of shock and..something else. What did she mean by ‘nothing good’? What was she looking for? This was ludicrous. How could she be such a downer? It was back, that’s all that mattered.  She shouldn’t be giving up so soon. There were so many questions he wanted to ask but.. they weren’t words she needed to hear.

 " You just got your memory back. How can you be so sure? These things don’t just take a day. You have to wait for it. “

 A glide, closer to her body; cold in demeanor but filled with so much warmth.

 ” 'Obstacles are put in your way to see if what you want is really worth fighting for.’ Zenyatta told me that, could you guess?“ A chuckle as he moved closer,  hands reaching up as soft as his voice to hold her, ” I’ve never been very poetic. Or romantic. “ Lúcio smiled, bright as the sun but soft as the stars. Thumbs traced every angle, breathing warm against hers.

 ” But, I do know that I love you. Everything about you. Your memories don’t make you who you are; they’re just something nice to think back on. You can make yourself whatever you want. And everything I want is already here. You, “ He swallowed, face warming at their close proximity, ( though it wasn’t unfamiliar ), and the words coming out of his mouth, ” Are just as good as the rest. The fact that you tried hard enough to even get your memory back when you were already amazing is more than enough for me. It should be for you, too. “

A hum, kind eyes closing as a smile worked it’s way onto his face. The gesture was returned softly, lips moving against hers as his hands worked their way into her long hair; their shared warmth near intoxicating. Happiness almost radiated off of his being, elated with the thought of her trust in him. It’s not like this was the first time they’d kissed before, but the simple fact of Widow being comfortable enough for them to be so casual it was.. amazing, really. Calloused thumbs traced circles across blue skin, holding her tight against him.

“ good mood? “ he questioned, tone barely above a whisper.

He gave her a look, stern enough to hopefully mask the fear he felt. No, that wasn’t right. It was more than that, fear being the shadows filling up the pit in his stomach; threatening to swallow him whole. No matter what burning sense of anger or anxiousness, even terror, there, it remained bottomless. Just waiting for another excuse to make him feel like he was falling. Horrified. To be honest, there wasn’t a real reason thatLúcio was afraid. Not one that he could face, at least. It was there, sure, but pushed back far enough to the point of no return. Out of sight, out of mind. Right?

A deep breath, the hope that she’d follow lead. Hands hesitated, wanting so badly to reach out to her. Instead they stopped only halfway, unwilling againstLúcio’s pleas to keep going. They were frozen, just like him. Not listening. It was inevitable, it seemed, that he wouldn’t be able to hide this inescapable fear. It was natural. Nothing to be ashamed of. He kept telling himself that it was, that she wouldn’t, couldn’t hurt him. He really did believe it. But the brain was man’s worst enemy. Killing just came so EASY to her, even if it was still harder than she would anticipate. Widow must feel like such a monster already, the reflex of a defensive stance from him was just as unnecessary as her shouting. So the notion of him telling her to calm down was just as much angled towards the sniper as it was himself. He couldn’t isolate her more than she’d done herself; it just wasn’t right. 

“ ok. “ 

A sigh, white tendrils of his shaky breath whispering to the unresponsive night.

“ then you can talk to me about it, yeah? “
