See that's why I only ever play with my friends and don't make all my plays instantly, the whole point of a game is to have FUN, and it ending in barely 3 turns is anything but that. It's also disheartening to see fun and gimmick archetypes being forgotten about or just looked down on because they're "weak." I've been a Crystal Beasts and Red Eyes player for what feels like years now and it is genuinely the best feeling to be able to pull off stunts that are HARD and mess with people in agame all about strategy and counterattacking. Nowadays everyone just focuses on winning and fast.

Give me 4 hour duels with twists and turns, give me outrageous gimmicks and risky summons that could and often DO go horribly wrong. My most memorable duels aren't even ones I won; my bf pulling out Ra first turn, me summoning Z-Arc only for him to get canned instantly, the longest gambling game I've ever had against an Arcana Force deck, and so on so forth. It just feels bad when a game isn't that anymore.

I miss old Yugioh so much, the modern game is fucking ass. Most duels used to last several turns, and you’d have a lot of back and forth between the players throughout the match most of the time. You can be the underdog the whole game and make a comeback, or it could be a toss up the whole match who’s gonna win. Nowadays you’ll know how a match will go before the first turn is even done. It’s so disheartening, every match is over before you even get to actually PLAY against each other.

Decks all bring their full force to bare on turn 1. It’s so fucking stupid. It’s a roll of the dice on who has the better opening hand, and 9 times out of 10 that alone decides the whole match.

When I watch people stream or when I’m playing myself it’s the same scenario almost every game; once you’re a few card activations in, if a player doesn’t think they can fully stop their opponents turn, they just surrender and move on to the next match.

That’s how unfun this shit has become. If you can’t win immediately you surrender or you sit there NOT playing the game for 5+ minutes until your opponent kills you. Because the first turn has become so overblown with extenders and easy extra deck cheese that the first turn is enough to go through damn near all your resources; You WILL get your endgame stuff out or you will be interrupted and fold. That’s pretty much the unanimous experience I’ve been seeing as of late, it’s hardly even a game.
