56. operation: save yeonjun

[ synopsis ] choi beomgyu has spent his entire senior year slacking off and causing mischief. but, due to his inattentiveness, his slacking off went too far and if he doesn't improve the grade in his literature class he'll guarantee himself a seat in summer school. yn has big dreams to be on stage and star on broadway. however, she needs to impress recruiters with one last production as the lead in order to earn herself a spot in a new york based school. when beomgyu's literature teacher makes him join their drama club for extra credit, their futures quickly become intertwined and dependent on each other.

ATTENTION - 40 bandage

cw: blood again cause this is the same day from the last chapter, nurses office?

"here yn, bandages."

you and taehyun were both in the nurse's office, ironically, with no nurse. she had left hours ago apparently. it was nearing night, most students and staff had gone home already, save for the few students here and there. most of them were in the library, studying and preparing for the upcoming exams.

after taehyun calmed down, he realized the cut on your cheek hadn't stopped bleeding, so he immediately brought you to the nurses office for some sort of medical attention. a cotton swab, antiseptics, and bandages had been handed to you as taehyun rummaged the nurses cabinet for supplies.

"yn, what time is it?" taehyun asked as he search his pockets for his phone.

"hmm, around 6. why?" you looked at the watch resting on your wrist. 6:02 pm.

"oh shit.. the paperwork upstairs.."

ah right. the paperwork he had overlooked. the school closes its gates at 6:30 sharp. all students then are expected to be in their dorms, either studying or unwinding from the day.

"if you need to attend to it, then go. i can handle myself here." you said nonchalantly as you began to search for a mirror. it was only a small cut, there was no harm doing it yourself. you would only need a mirror to see if you were applying it right where the cut was. you would hardly call this a two person job anyways.

"really? then I'll get going!" taehyun stands up and runs out of the office, leaving you all alone. you frown deepens as your search for the mirror happens to be unfruitful. you swore just a few days ago, you saw a small mirror on top of the nurse's desk, where was it?

a rush of footsteps in front of the office made you turn your head. there was beomgyu, panting and holding the door to the office open. did he run here?

"gyu? what are you doing here? i thought you were in your dorm?" you pushed your body from below the nurses desk, now standing at your full height. you turned to look fully at beomgyu. his long hair slightly sticking to his neck.

"tae— um. i just wanted to get some bandages. yea! i was at the library. studying. haha." beomgyu ran his fingers through his hair, dusting off his clothes in case anything was stuck to him. seeing nothing wrong, he looked back to you with a smile. soon, his brows furrowed.

"yn! you're bleeding! what happened?!" beomgyu rushed towards you, quickly taking a tissue from the tissue box and holding it to your cheek where the cut resided. you hiss at the contact. beomgyu's eye widens at your pain, he starts to search around. eyes scanning the area beside him. seeing a chair beside the nurse's desk and he guided you to it. pushing you down by your shoulders. forcing you to sit.

"sorry! hold on, wait!" beomgyu was rushing finding supplies in front of you. he took your left hand and placed it on top of his, the one that was resting on your cheek, holding the tissue paper. the sudden contact made you look up to him, and him look down to you.

both of you blinked, unsure of what was happening. you looked into his eyes, as his darted below to your lips. was he looking at your lips? was he going to kiss you? the thought of it made you turn your head away, awakening beomgyu and making him realize what he needed to do. he lifted the hand that was holding the tissue to your cheek, and replaced his hand with yours. you caught red blush creeping up to his cheeks.

"do you know where the antiseptics and bandages are?" beomgyu turned around and began searching the nurses cabinet. from afar, you could see his ears turning a bright shade of red. it made you slightly relaxed knowing that he was just as nervous as you.

"o—on the table." you stuttered, still embarrassed from the previous eye contact. beomgyu turned around back to you with the three things taehyun handed to you before. the cotton swab, antiseptics, and bandages.

"you can throw out the tissue, give it to me. the blood should have stopped flowing by now." beomgyu muttered as he peeled the tissue from you and scrunching it up into a ball. correct to his belief, the blood had already stopped flowing, now only a cut was left to be treated.

"come closer, i need to spread this ointment first."

beomgyu urged you to move your chair closer as he also moved in. he was standing at full height, while you were sitting down, staring at him. he took some of the antiseptic and spread it across the small cut. earning a scrunched face and a hiss from you. beomgyu could only look at you apologetically before resuming his work.

you found his left hand situated on your right cheek, holding it in place while his right hand was busy with applying the antiseptic. your head was tilted upwards, while he bent downwards to look closely at your cut.

"gyu, maybe i should stand—"

beomgyu shushed you, and pushed you down to sit back on the chair. his face was dangerously closed to you. all of his attention was on your left cheek. sharp eyes watching carefully. you could only watch him, mesmerized. the hand on your cheek was soft and warm. and he held your cheek so tenderly, if you closed your eyes, you could mistook it for a lover holding his loved one.

"there. give me the bandage please." he held out his palm to you. you reached out to put the bandage in his hand, and the contact between his fingers and yours made a chill run up your spine. you needed to calm down. it was just beomgyu.

he unwrapped the bandage and set aside the plastic wrapper for now. the bandage was then put gingerly on your left cheek, right below your eye where the cut was. beomgyu lightly pressed on the bandage and smoothed it out, leaving no wrinkles. he smiled once the process was complete, satisfied with himself.

"done! you're good to go yn!"

the smile beomgyu gave you was blinding. you, in turn, also smiled. affected by his happy mood.

"thank you, beomgyu."

you leaned on your tiptoes and kissed his cheek. with flushed cheeks, and a grin, you waved to beomgyu before running out of the nurse's office, leaving beomgyu a blushing mess alone.

FAIRY OF SHAMPOO ✧ bunny duo unite

pairing: idol au! soobin x fem! reader

summary: soobin found his own fairy of shampoo. the one that makes him smile whenever they show up on screen, and even manages to brighten up his day whenever he's upset. but this feels a little familiar, isn't it? he hopes it won't be like the song they released. he wants to be able to face the fairy that casted a spell on him without the screen between them.

You sat down in front of the phone, your face inches away from the screen as you tried to read every single comment. But to no avail the auto scroll was too fast and eventually you gave up reading everything.

"Photo time? Okay, last photo time before I go!"

You backed away until you could see your whole body on the screen, you sat with your legs crossed on the floor and did several different poses. A peace sign, apple heart, and bunny ears using your whole hand on each side of your head. A giggle escaped your lips when you caught a comment from one of your members.

"It's not cringe when I'm doing it! And I'm not an old lady," you rolled your eyes, "just because I'm the oldest doesn't mean I'm ancient."

The comments were panicking and having a field day from your poses. Most of them were calling you cute and half were crying emojis. An amused smile curled on your lips, you've done your part and they found you cute. Does he think you're cute, too? You lowered your gaze and remained quiet. The soft humming of the centralized air-conditioner filled the room. Why were you even thinking about him at this time? It could've been later when you're not live and thousands could see your expression right now. The last thing you want is for Bunnies to get worried about you.

The sound of the door opening snapped you out of your thoughts. You turned your head to the door behind you, and thankfully whoever walked in couldn't be seen on the screen.

"Oh shi— I'm so sorry," his voice, however, was loud enough for them to hear.

Your eyes widened when he locked eyes with you. He was panicking and wasn't sure what to do as he stood there on the side frozen. You gave him a thumbs up and a reassuring smile before turning back to the screen.

"I'll see you guys later! And yes, I promise that I'll post later for the ones saying that I've been inactive." You waved your hand and used your free hand to press the end live button. The screen displayed the total watchers you had and the hearts you got throughout the past two hours.

"All set. You're free to roam the room!" You took the phone from the stand and turned it off. You plan to give it to one of the staff later on.

Soobin took a brief glance at you before he made his way to the bundle of bags from across the room. You watched him from the center of the practice room with a small smile. The shuffling of duffle bags and your calm breathing filled the room, his sneakers squeaking ever so often as he turned to fetch another pair of shoes from below the speakers.

There was nothing but silence, but the both of you preferred the comfort in the stillness of the room.

The sound of paper tearing made you look at him with confusion across your face. You walked over to where he was but not close enough that you could bump into him, instead you reached for your bag and arranged the clothes you used for practice. You tried to take a peek at what he was doing, but his height alone cannot be conquered. You couldn't look over his shoulders nor do you have the ability to see what he was writing anyway.

Once he was finished, he placed the pen down. He let out a breath before turning to face you, clearing his throat to get your attention. "Can we exchange numbers? It's okay if you don't want to, that's absolutely fine with me—"

"Yeah, sure!" You cut him off.

How could you say no when he's so adorable. He was so nervous, too. The look of shock remained on his face as you tore a piece of paper from the notebook, you wrote your number and other info before turning to face him.

You extended your hand, "here's mine." He took the paper from your hand as you did the same.

Soobin felt like he was dreaming. It was as if he was standing on clouds and that one wrong step could make him fall and wake up from this dream. It was that easy, yet he had to do drastic measures like shoving paper in your sandwich. But it was Beomgyu's idea and it didn't work. If only he knew confronting you about exchanging numbers was this easy he could've done it way earlier.

The note you gave him has your number and a cute little doodle of a bunny right next to a short note. It says 'bunny duo unite.'

You're so cute.

"Thank you," you let out a light laugh, "you are too."

Soobin's ears were flushed red. He couldn't believe he just said that out loud and in front of you on top of that. The warmth spreads throughout his cheeks to the back of his neck, he wants to hide away from you. Why do you do this to him? The effect you have on him is dangerous. The urge to pinch your cheeks was strong, he wants to hug you and shower you with kisses so bad. He wants to be with you and see you smile. He wants to be the reason why you're smiling. You're his sunshine, his fairy of shampoo.

"I… uh, have to keep going. I still have practice with the others. I'll see you." Soobin gave you a shy smile, his dimples visible as he did so.

You watched as he grabbed his things and quickly made his way towards the door, and once the door was closed you collapsed on the floor. Your legs felt like it was giving up and it felt like it was jelly the whole time you talked to the blond. You swear that you stopped breathing for a moment when he was near you. A deep sigh escaped you, closing your eyes as you tried to calm yourself.

Your heart was pounding against your chest. If he was close enough, he could possibly hear the pounding of your heart and it would only double your embarrassment. The feign confidence was only a show so that he wouldn't feel like he was doing something wrong.

Now, you have to get home and tell the others about this. And surely they're going to be proud of you.

Y/N never would have seen the day where her parents would visit her workspace, nevertheless growing interested in her work lifestyle. She had always thought the reason for her parents' constant restrictions was mainly due to her field of work. Seeing as her parents are willing to see what filming was like put her mind at ease.

Filming was going pretty smoothly, the staff were busy walking from one place to another, the lighting checks, the audio checks and touch ups— to Y/N it felt like walking into a busy home.

Y/N watched from afar, as Soobin pointed from each direction, signalling the staff to their positions. She knew he was good at his work, and that he was passionate about film even though they had some differences before. The more she looked at Soobin, a sense of warmth, familiarity as well as longing grew upon her. Though she pushes away the thought, unsure of what this strange feeling is boiling inside her mind.

Y/N looks at her parents with a smile, and they return with theirs. Without much of a thought, however Y/N could see the bittersweet smile on their faces before they looked away, helping the catering staff with handing out the food. Y/N wasn’t sure what it was, but she decided to leave it for now.

Soobin was surprised to see Y/N’s parents again after that incident. It was a little awkward seeing two adults arguing over their daughter’s career as well as their desire to bring her home— to two parents helping and supporting her. It was nice however, to see a change between Y/N and her parents, and Soobin was glad he was able to help.

Though the more he looked at her parents, the colours of the auras began to change— he remembered they left with the colour of joy in their surroundings…why did their colours return back to it’s colour of sadness and now— mixed with the purple colour of fear?

Soobin had thought Y/N and her parents had talked it out, and that they had made up with their misunderstandings. But it seemed like her parents were still uneasy about this whole ordeal. However, Soobin believed he shouldn’t pry any further, he wasn’t close to you and yet he didn’t want to bother Y/N’s relationship with her parents any longer.

It wasn’t until during the break, Soobin had accidentally eavesdropped on a conversation between Y/N’s parents.

“Are you sure we should be doing this? Our daughter is not going to come home!”

“We’ll have to be on her side for now, at least like this situation we can keep an eye on her. Instead of her constantly pushing us away.”

“What if she finds out? She’ll definitely go looking for him!”

“Can you just calm down?!”

“No! Have you found him yet?”

“No I have not! Just don’t worry about it, we’ll be on her good side and that way we can persuade her to come home. She won’t run away anymore…not like the first time.”

Soobin hears sobs coming from Y/N’s mother, “I just…don’t want it to happen again, I’m just afraid…”

“I’m sorry sweetheart, we’ll keep her safe. She doesn’t remember anyway.”

Soobin hears the sudden movement of her parents and he quickly finds a place to hide, he does not know what to do with the information he had just heard. But somehow, he knows it has a lot to do with the current colour he’s seeing around them.

Ch. 7

It has been a couple days since Jake bought me breakfast and the thought has not left my head since. He hasn't come into the office since that day either. I’ve been thinking about how to ask him for lunch to pay him back, and every time I think about it, I cringe.

I’ve been waiting for TXT’s comeback since and every time they post photos, I’m gushing over Yeonjun. Speaking of TXT comeback I have not gotten a dm from Bighit since I emailed them, I’m guessing they fixed it or something.

I’ve literally been out of it here and there, and Renee and Lena would catch me and tease me about it- more so Renee, saying that I like Jake and that I’m starting to like him- which is far from the truth. I just find him handsome and cute.

The things that are keeping my mind busy are TXT’s comeback, school, work, and keeping up with my content.

My routine has been just going to work and going home all while I’m trying to keep my mind off from Jake.

I’m back home from work and thankfully I don’t have much homework to do, except to finish up a writing assignment. I put my stuff down and change into comfy clothes. When I’m all ready, I go towards the kitchen and bring my phone with me and set it down on the counter to grab my favorite snack.

I grab my phone again and head back to my room, to chill for a bit before I finish up my assignment and get into school mode.

When I sent that tweet, I see that Bighit posted another set of pictures for TXT’s comeback- which happen to be the last set.

I finished getting all their photos, and put my phone down to finish up my assignment. Let’s just say that I ended up getting distracted and changing wallpapers on all my devices 10 minutes after I started my assignment and called it a day.

VALENTINE 14: the valentine's dance

[long narration ahead !]

it was like a wave of deja vu hit you as you watched taehyun and hyuka converse a few feet away from you but instead of the warm rays of sunlight hitting his face, it was being illuminated by the enchanting lights set up to complete tonight's mood.

taehyun looked captivating tonight, and a lot of people were visibly swooning over him. you couldn't blame them, you were just as bad as them, maybe even worse.

a lot of things have changed since the last time you were in this position, and you would be lying if you said that you expected it to happen. knowing how it has been since you started pining over taehyun without even getting to know him, you fully expected things would stay the same this year as well.

who knew that you would end up being really close with him?

it was a dangerous move. you felt yourself fall for him as you spent more time and got to know him better. it was difficult not to like taehyun.

truthfully, you still weren't fully ready to confess your feelings, but you needed to do this before you lose the chance. whether he would accept or reject your confession was up to your future self to take care of. right now, you needed more courage.

walking towards the drinks table, a small part of you hoped that the drinks would be spiked. you needed liquid courage to get through the day, but you knew that wasn't possible tonight. eyes were watching the table like a hawk, it would be impossible to tamper with the drinks.

you poured yourself a glass and took a sip, mind still clouded over what you were planning to do.

"are you enjoying the night so far?" you heard a familiar voice beside you, your heart instantly picking up.

you turned to taehyun with a small smile, nodding. "everything looks amazing. all of you outdid yourselves this year,"

your eyes scanned through taehyun's ensemble. he already looked handsome from afar, but he looked even more stunning up close. sometimes you wonder if it really was possible for someone to be as handsome as he is. "you look good," you said nonchalantly.

taehyun visibly flushed at the compliment. "you too. you look really pretty," he shyly said, taken aback at his crush telling him he looked good. a few seconds later, he cleared his throat and spoke, "so, do you have a date for tonight?"

with a sigh, you shook your head. "i'm all alone tonight. i don't know where the hell beomgyu and yeonjun are… probably being their usual extroverted selves," you chuckled as you tried to imagine what they were doing.

"why aren't you being your usual extroverted self?" taehyun asked.

you pursed your lips. "my mind is a bit occupied tonight,"

taehyun hummed. "that won't do. you should enjoy the night too,"

"i will," you defended. "i just have to get through this… predicament and i'll be dancing in no time."

"but i want to dance with you now," he blurted out, making you feel flustered this time.

"god, you're always so straightforward, aren't you?" you laughed nervously while he looked unfazed.

"i am," he affirmed and took a step forward, shortening the space between you. "would you like to dance with me?"

as if you were hypnotized by the low tone of his voice and the way he was looking at you, you slowly nodded. he held out his hand and guided you towards the dance floor.

you could see all eyes were on you, scattered whispers could be heard around the school gym. it was already unusual for taehyun to attend the event but to also dance with someone? it intrigued your fellow schoolmates.

it made you feel uneasy to be at the center of attention without meaning to and taehyun took notice of this, both the shift in the mood and how tense you became. during the weeks of hanging out with you, he can easily tell when you're comfortable and when you're not.

"hey," he said softly, capturing your attention. you hummed in response, waiting for him to continue.

"don't think about the others and just focus on me. focus on us dancing and let yourself relax," he gently said, holding your waist. you wrapped your arms around his neck and started swaying to the slow melody playing.

"it just feels weird… i can't help but feel their eyes on me," you muttered.

"just keep looking at me and i'll make you forget everything else."

you gulped. at this point, you felt like you couldn't contain yourself anymore. taehyun's way with words has always left you blushing and your heart racing, but it seemed like it was worse today than usual. it was not what you had planned, but maybe it was time for you to tell taehyun what he makes you feel before you end up speechless for the whole night.

you inhaled deeply. "do you have any idea what you do to me, taehyun?"

the seriousness of your voice took taehyun aback. he blinked at you, confused. "what do you mean? did i do something wrong?"

you giggled and shook your head. he was as clueless as ever.

"i like you, taehyun," you boldly said. finally, you were able to mutter the words you had been wanting to say for a long time. there was no backing out now and no matter what response you would get, you would accept it. what matters is that you finally told him those three words.

taehyun still looked a bit lost. "i know. you said you liked me because i was a great friend. why are you so serious right now?"

you could feel your stress level slowly rising, but you tried to keep your composure. this was an important moment for you and you didn't want to ruin it.

"i like you more than a friend would like another friend," you started, taking a deep breath before continuing.

"i like you in a way that i want to hug you tightly every time i see you. i like you in a way that i want to hold your hand. i like you in a way that i want to watch ghibli movies with you while cuddling. i've liked you for so long that i don't think i can hide it anymore,"

taehyun stayed silent, still swaying with you and you took it as a sign to continue speaking your mind.

"i never thought i would become a friend to you and i'm so glad that we got close like this. i only used to admire you from afar but actually meeting you, being able to hang out with you, it just added to the reasons why i like you so much,"

"it's okay if you don't like me back. i've spent years one-sidedly pining over you, so i can handle a rejection. i just wanted to let you know that this is what i feel before i explode," you tried joking to lighten up the confession but deep inside, you were swimming in anxiety. you couldn't believe that you were actually doing this.

"years?" taehyun sputtered out. you nodded. "three years to be exact,"

his eyebrows knit together and he bit his lip. "i'm sorry, i feel terrible now…"

you could feel your heart crack at that statement, yet you still sent him a smile. "it's okay, you didn't know. you don't have to feel sorry because you don't like me back."

"no, that's not why i feel sorry," he shook his head. "i'm sorry that it only took me recently to like you back when you've already liked me for so long. i should have gotten closer to you earlier than i did,"

you blinked at him. "you… what?" you could feel your heart racing faster than ever. did he really say what he meant to say?

taehyun stopped swaying and pulled you in closer, tightening his grip on your waist. "you know, i planned on confessing my feelings for you today too," he chuckled. "it's my turn to tell you how i feel, would that be okay?"

you could only nod in response, frozen. he really wasn't kidding when he said he could make you forget everything else because right now, it was as if you were the only two people in the room. all you could think about was taehyun taehyun taehyun and you couldn't look away from his eyes one bit. he was driving you mad.

"i didn't really know what it meant to like someone, until hyuka practically lectured me about it and how what i was feeling was me liking you," he softly chuckled.

"all i knew was that you make me feel happy just by seeing you happy and that i could listen to you ramble about a movie for hours and still be interested in everything that you say. i knew that i really like being with you, you make me forget about everything else that stresses me out. i thought that was a normal thing to feel for a friend, but it also didn't feel right just thinking about you as a friend,"

"i also want to do those things that you said. hug you, hold your hand, watch a movie and cuddle with you, kiss every part of your face until you get sick of me. i'm not really good at romance, but i will try for you. i really like you and i want to be with you."

taehyun thought that the smile you were sporting now was the most illuminating smile he has ever seen. he wanted to see more of it. finally, he was able to tell you how he felt for you and his heart started leaping the moment he found out that his feelings were reciprocated.

no more was the weight on both of your shoulders. there was no need for hiding now. after taehyun said his piece, it was as if the world looked brighter. you still couldn't believe that taehyun liked you back and you couldn't even try to hide how happy this exchange made you feel.

you practically leaped forward, hugging him tight and he hugged you tighter. both of you were the happiest you have ever been.

you no longer cared about what other people were probably thinking. all you could focus on was the man of your dreams and how your hearts were connected, beating as one.
