Not-Jojo content for a hot minute! Let's talk about the Borderlands movie...

First things first, I don't know if you know this, but my nickname comes from Borderlands. Although now I only talk and draw about Jojo's, I'm still a big fan of the Borderlands games.

When I played the first game, I loved the concept about sirens, and it was back then when I started using my actual nickname (circa 2010). Then, when Borderlands 2 came out, I was obsessed with Handsome Jack. And when I say obsessed, I mean OBSESSED with huge and bold capital letters. I consider Borderlands 2 the best Borderlands game of them all, and The Pre-Sequel is a close one just because of my full Jack obsession, lol.

Keep reading for my opinion about the trailer...

I don't remember when they announced that they were making a Borderlands movie, maybe 2017-ish??? I was extremely excited, thinking that they would adapt the story of the games (back then, I think Borderlands 3 wasn't even announced, but they could have started as a trilogy...). I even fantasized about the idea of Dameon Clarke, Handsome Jack's VA in English, being Jack in the movie as well. But that dream was long gone when I read that the film would not exactly follow up the story we all know. And the wait to see something about this movie was LONG.

I finally watched the trailer when they released it, and even it's not the story I was hoping to see... I kinda like it. I didn't feel the hype I expected being a huge Borderlands fan, but I think I can still enjoy it. Some stuff from the movie feels off (like Roland's personality... he doesn't feel like Roland at all... and where are Lilith siren tattoos!?!?!?), but other stuff feels total in the style of Borderlands (people bullying Claptrap in some way is a must). The movie has its flaws, but people on Reddit keep bitching about Lilith and Tannis being too old, Roland being too short... ugh, I don't fucking care about the cast not being aesthetically perfect (but I admit that I would have liked them to). If the actors and actresses do a good job interpreting their characters and the story fits the Borderlands' universe with good humor and action, I'll consider myself lucky.

That was my impression of the trailer in English, but I'm from Spain, so the next day I watched the trailer again, but dubbed in Spanish, and... it felt way funnier! At least Tina's phrases sounded funnier for me (instead of saying "it's in my mouth!" she says "I swallowed it" lmao), and some voices suit the characters better than the original ones. Usually, it's the other way around, lol!

I think the localization will improve the movie for me, and that gives me some hope to enjoy the movie besides all the bitching on Reddit. Seriously, guys, stop complaining about people's bodies... there are other things to be criticized...

To try to introduce myself into the mood, maybe I'll do a redraw of an old Borderlands fanart... it'll be coming soon!

Your sketching/art style is really pretty and clean. Do you ever do fully rendered pieces? I'd love to know what your painting style looks like? Or do you have any plans to paint any of the lads stuff you've done yet? Sorry if you've answered this before!

So this is a bit of a ~fun~ one to answer and might get a little long bit I'll do my best to keep it as short and simple as possible my dear sweet Anon ♡

First off, thank you! I used to do a lot of rendering and full-on painting in terms of digital art, but figure sketching is always where I've been happiest and most comfortable. The human body is my absolute favorite subject, and while painting it is lovely, I find the simple sketching of it to be very soothing. It's uncomplicated, and the shapes and lines don't get lost as easily imo. It's just nice to be able to see the curve and form of the body in its most uninhibited view.

That said, you won't see me do a lot of painting anymore. In March of last year, I got really sick and started to lose the mobility in my hands. I found out I had PsA (short hand for Psoriatic Arthritis, think of it like a cousin to Rheumatoid Arthritis), and so the amount of time I can spend drawing and painting is drastically reduced. This means that while I used to be able to spend all day working on rendering a piece no problem, I just can't do that anymore. To give you an example, I've been working on this piece since January in small bursts, and I'm still not halfway done-

This is a project of love though (the dnd group I play in, the witch on the broom is my character) so it's still something I deeply enjoy working on so I'm happy to do it in little bursts.

Here are a couple other passion projects I'm chipping away at that are all personal projects and a bit of fanart that are all mid WIP. Hopefully this gives you an idea of my limited painting skills 😅🤣 even before my illness I was a mediocre painter at best, as it wasn't ever something that really drew me in to strive for improvement.

I've taken quite a shine to doing manga panel redraws since my illness, enjoying the black and white/greytone styles, so I've been playing with those as well recently. Particularly with the Demon Slayer manga. They're much easier but still pack a punch visually, and I love the comparison between the original and my interpretation.

I hope that answers your question (and I'm sorry it was probably waaay more than you asked for lmao). I'm sorry you won't be seeing many painted LnDS pieces from me anytime soon, or likely ever. As my hands continue to decline so will my skills and abilities. But I'm grateful you guys have been enjoying the sketches I've been able to do. I really appreciate all the love you've given me ♡♡

Rain Draws Ashfur Several Times

So Ashfur won that poll I made about which Warrior Cats villain I should draw, so instead of doing the normal thing and drawing him once, I decided to rotate him in my mind for a bit and then draw him multiple times

I am completely normal about this greasy, melodramatic loser

I tried to stick to canon (or at least, the depiction of Ashfur in his sprite on the wiki), but this looks wrong to me

So then I drew my own personal design for him! His stripes n stuff aren't meant to be that dark, I messed up while coloring him but I didn't want to redraw him. The only problem was the stripes, so I didn't feel like it was bad enough to justify completely redrawing him

While usually it's something I save for cats with the -heart suffix, I gave him a heart shaped marking on his chest. It was whole when he was a kit, but as he got older the heart "broke"

Realistic? No. A fun design choice? Yes

Also while I'm not very good at drawing spotted tabbies (or tabbies in general tbh), that's what I draw Ashfur (+ Ferncloud and Brindleface) as

Then I drew him in the style that I draw Starclan cats in! I've been meaning to talk about how my Starclan/Dark Forest designs work, but the more important details for Starclan cats are that they're lighter in color than their living appearance, any markings are sharper or star shaped if applicable, whatever killed them sparkles and that the longer they're dead, they start looking less like cats

That last one is a bit hard to explain in words, but for example Firestar would start looking like he's actually made of fire, Longtail's tail would get even longer or Hollyleaf would start growing actual holly leaves out of her body

Body horror, but not as disturbing to look at or as painful to the cat as it is for the Dark Forest residents.

While Ashfur's death technically didn't have anything to do with fire, I think he'd always be surrounded by smoke as a reminder of what he tried to do (I was mainly thinking of Holly, Jay & Lion when I put that in, but it could also be easily connected to Ashfur's part in Firestar losing a life to the fox trap)

I imagine the smoke would be there as a reminder to him that just because he was let into Starclan doesn't mean that he's completely off the hook or that Starclan didn't see the shit he tried to pull. I also think that he wouldn't really get to deliver prophecies or anything particularly important.

I have to imagine that he was trying really hard to not lose it when Hollyleaf was allowed into Starclan (considering the Starclan trial stuff, Ashfur was probably at Hollyleaf's trial, because we all know she definitely had one)

Also I made a little doodle of a wet Ashfur. My Ashfur isn't very big or muscular, he's actually short and scrawny. He just looks a bit bigger than he actually is because he's really fluffy

I'll talk more about how I draw Dark Forest cats at a later time, but some of the more important stuff is written down here already.

All Dark Forest cats have red outlines, though. No exceptions.

If I remember correctly, it's mentioned that there's no prey in the Dark Forest/Place of No Stars, so my Dark Forest cats are all real skinny. The longer they've been there, the more starved they look.

Unlike how Starclan cats will have their appearances change based on their names, Dark Forest cats will have their appearances changed based on their deaths (or the circumstances around it) and their crimes. Much like Starclan cats, your appearance changes more the longer you've been dead.

Cats like Ashfur or even Hawkfrost will have begun to change, but it isn't as bad for them yet as it is for cats like Mapleshade or Thistleclaw.

(Since I'm probably not going to draw Thistleclaw any time soon, I'll just tell you that one of the things done to him as a result of being in the DF is that despite being still mentally the same age as he was at his death, his appearance is that of an apprentice, and probably on the younger side at that. His treatment of Tigerpaw, Spottedpaw and Tiny, as well as being why Bluefur had to get rid of her kits, leading to the death of Mosskit, means that I get to hit him with the baby stick. Have fun being intimidating and using your power against people now, idiot)

Additionally, whatever killed a Dark Forest cat is still there. Yes, this means Tigerstar 1 is solidly Not Having a Good Time(tm)

Ashfur is burning from the inside out, both because of Firestar + the Fire Scene, but also because he fueled himself with his hatred of Squirrelflight after she ended their brief relationship. He let that anger and hatred fuel him, and now he will become the fuel for a fire. Naturally, this means he's now very hot to the touch and he radiates a ton of heat.

Dark Forest Ashfur gets an extra eye stripe that he doesn't have in his living design and also longer eyelashes because I wanted to try and make him look more like he has mascara running down his face... it made sense to me when I drew it.

And here's something a lot dumber

I wanted to draw a quick & silly bad doodle, so here's Ashfur as that one Elmo meme but I was too lazy to look at the actual meme for reference

(This is what color his stripes n stuff are supposed to be btw. Dark gray, I just accidentally made them black before. The only one of these designs that's supposed to have black stripes is the Dark Forest design, and that's just because the DF cats are darker in color than their living designs)

I was going to add more art to this post but then my brain decided we were done drawing for now despite how I had more ideas, so this is all you're getting, I guess.

Admittedly, this was really fun to do and I might do something like this with the polls again at some point. I'm actually really proud of this art, too :)

DOODLE DUMP BECAUSE I HAVE NOT ACTUALLY DRAWN ANY ACTUAL ART PIECES IN A WHILE :D

These ⬇️ were over the span of about a week, and I finished it just a day or 2 ago !!

I drew these ⬇️ last month in aprilll?? I think?

I kinda just worked on it whenever I didn't have any other inspiration which is why there isn't too much

I also want to rant about these and the process n stuff a little bit so I am going to :)

Making the first one I started redrawing old stuff from a sketchbook (the person in the pretty dress, person in the sweater), and then I got distracted watching qsmp vods and drew Dapper and Juanaflipa!!

It was the first time I drew them not as eggs (so they might look totally different next time I draw them sorryyy) and it was super fun !!!! Im working on drawing all the qsmp eggs but it's not gonna be done for a bit since I am also not caught up on whats going on

the last stream I saw was a few days after the Brazilian members crashed and now I hear of France?? Idk but I'll prob try to catch up this week and finish the drawing soon :)

Also all the nature !!!! Literally my favorite thing to draw ever. I could just sit by a plant and draw it and never get bored

Sadly there are not many plants near my house so I might just have to go into the woods and look for cool plants to draw this summer heheheee oh nooo if it's the only way I guess... I just have no other option than going into the awesome woods with the nature and no other people and loud music in my headphones 😔 /sar Im so excited ajauvsv

"the project" as I've been calling it, is a goal of mine in life to create something emotional and meaningful that matters to people and can maybe help someone feel less alone :)

It is not that right now though ! At the moment it's just an idea since I don't really have the resources or skills to make it the way I would want to, but these sketches and stuff help me keep track of the idea while I get ready to make the thing

I have some papers with project stuff that I might post if anyone seems really interested in the project as it is right now (they are messy and hard to understand so I don't currently plan on uploading them anywhere)but if not I will likely just keep quietly working on it :3 and I'm definitely gonna change up a few things !! Some things on that page may not even make it into the actual project 👁️👁️

Something you're good at drawing, but still hate drawing? while i don't know if i'm necessarily "good" at it, I personally am confident in my ability to draw stuff like armor & complex robot machinery but i absolutely hate doing it since it takes me so much time to do </3 i like drawing fast so anything that makes me work on something longer than it typically would otherwise i throw a fit and run away

19. Inanimate object/food you like to draw? I like drawing burgers a lot :)c

22. Stretches you do before/during drawing? i don't typically stretch prior, but if my arms begin to ache during a work i'll take a quick break to flick my wrists around or do that thing there you stretch out your wrist by pushing the palm side of your hand outwards with your other hand for like 45 seconds each . Idk if they're actually helpful but they do make me feel better so i just do that

30. Art of yours you think is underrated? They're both like ~2 years old by now but probably these two drawings ... for people other than the asker the first one is from the very first dnd campaign i was in and the second was from me playing phasmophobia with the same people i played dnd with lol

So yesterday, my youngest brother and I were waiting in the car at the DMV for my middle brother to get his real ID along with my mom. While waiting, I had one of my sketchbooks, opened it and I suddenly had nostalgia of all these old concepts and sketches I made when I started taking art seriously. Now I thought it would be a good idea for a sketchbook tour, since I really haven't done one lol. Anyways, here we go.

so I had this big massive story in mind and one of the characters was supposed to be a cosmic deity that helps the flow of space and time. But in the end, I couldn't really get a good idea of a design.

I've noticed that while my female drawings were decent, NONE of my male designs were any good. Hell, I couldn't even figure out a hairstyle. So I've practiced on many hairstyles until I found something that would work.

After a while, I decided to start drawing the faces...yeah. While there's only a few drawings of the face, I didn't like them and start drawing the faces on a different paper.

Then I went on to the outfit, I was trying to go for a pirate theme outfit, but it came out as a post apocalyptic kind.

And then this is the overall results. I was going to fit him in a pirtlate story I had in mind, but now(after so many considerations) it'll probably be best to put him into something else.

This was supposed to be an aromatic girl, but the design just seem so boring. If anything, I'll most likely redraw her again. Probably soon.

I'll be honest...I can't remember what this guy was supposed to be. Love interest of some sort? Or just a sketch to practice males...which looks so weird now...

I wanted to make a couple, mainly a lesbain couple. I think I was on the right track, but didn't complete it. I was also practicing some eyes and figuring out what my persona would be at the time. Since back then, my persona was just my alter ego...and at the same time, she was too much of a mary sue... yikes 😳😳

I wanted to make an icon of myself with the sign that said "AnimuStudios." As you can tell, it didn't work out... oof.

And then this last one I just wanted to practice on some poses with a male or unisex person. I'm not sure how I feel about this one, but the pose definitely looks better than most of the stuffs in here!

That's the end of part one of my sketchbook tour. If anything, I'll probably go back to these and redraw most of them. For now, o have other stuffs to do.
