i should be writing but instead i decided to throw together a super quick moodboard of the different shifted forms herbert has (at least in “not in death, just in sleep”) because I don’t think I’ll get to explore all of them in the fic.

explanations for the various choices under the cut!

eurasian lynx - 100% something herbert tried to sneak into the castle when he was a kid. found one when he was little and DESPERATELY tried to convince his dad to let him keep it.  

snowy owl - he just thinks they’re pretty <3

ermine - another attempted pet herbert tried to bring home as a child.  it absolutely destroyed his dad’s wine cellar.

albino bat - bats are standard for vampires and herbert didn’t want to be left out, but he also wanted to Stand Out.

viper - herbert actually used to be DEATHLY afraid of snakes but he got bored one summer and decided to try and break that fear by way of intensely studying them.  he got bitten SO many times but thankfully being a vampire meant the venom couldn’t hurt him anymore.  the bites just itched a little.  

swan - they’re symbols of romance and herbert is a romantic at heart. but he forgot about the “vampires get stung by running water” thing which is kind of a bummer when you’re a swan.  also chose this because the mental image of herbert honking at someone before going straight for the kneecaps was just too perfect.  

stag - he likes the Majesty of them. also, again, the mental image of herbert just RAMMING into someone with his antlers was too perfect.

moth - he wanted something smaller and sneakier but being herbert he couldn’t go with something TOO plain.  

wolf - also pretty standard for vampires. his dad can also turn into one so this was one of the first shifted forms herbert picked up.  father-son bonding time occasionally included running through the woods in wolf form.

Tonight was my homecoming! My friends and I went as Tally Hall (featuring me as Rob), and we recreated some good photos along the way. One of the best nights I’ve had in a while 💛

hey i found a fun thing called the murder games simulator and it’s fun and sort of like a more in depth version of the hunger games simulator.
