hey y'all, this blog is just starting to annoy me more than anything, so i'm gonna start posting my fandom stuff on main (@commonghost) though i won't be deleting this blog (so the posts are still available).

Tbh I can't wait for Belos's villianous breakdown- you can't tell me it isn't coming soon-

He's lashing out at the collector (someone weve seen him genuinely at least ATTEMPT to treat like an equal, for over 100 years at this point.)

He's also obviously still sick, I doubt hed fake his symptoms because Collector doesn't seem to have much sympathy in him, even when he's kneeled over they really only care about getting free (fitting for a child.)

But I'm wondering what it'll be like? Does Belos seem like the type to cry when he realizes his world has changed so much that it's unrecognizable? That he no longer qualifies as a human being?? That his views are largely outdated in the modern world??? He doesn't seem like the SCREAMING melt down type..

I think he's going to crack and start to CRY. Maybe call out for his big brother?

Dad left a long time ago, when Ed and I were still boys. Mom stared off into the distance a lot, but she carried on as if nothing were wrong. We started studying alchemy, like our father before us. Hey, Ed.

I know that you hate/love the kotlc books as much as I do, and I was curious as to what some of your thoughts are about Fintan were. (whether they be canon or some of your own backstory.)

I personally enjoy him even in canon, but would also love to hear your thoughts about what could have been. I love your art and fics that have him in it, and would really enjoy your opinions.

(Also please don't feel at all obligated to answer this in a timely manner in the slightest, I'm just curious and am in no rush. /nm /gen)

And hm, that's kind of complicated? I haven't read the books in a while, so my memory isn't great, but I get the feeling that canon!Fintan is a very… unhinged kind of man. Like, I agree with the fandom that he's somewhat chaotic, but I don't think it's in a very fun or flamboyant way. Because honestly, while Fintan does cause drama, he's not actually very out-there. He doesn't talk about his motivations much, and we barely know his goals (other than get rid of humans and reclaim the world for elves), and we know absolutely nothing about his backstory. He's not someone who would go around sharing information about himself--he feels more like someone who keeps his plans close to his chest until it's time to unveil them, and then he does so with as much chaos as possible, maybe because he likes it but also because it's helpful to work people into a frenzy. I think he's definitely meant to be a very smart kind of villain.

And yeah, I really enjoy his canon personality too! I won't lie and say I haven't changed a ton of it to fit my own personal headcanons, but I think he's got such great potential as a character and plot device and I really hope he gets used more in the future.

And as for my own personal headcanon… well, I think I tend to make him a lot sadder and more miserable than most other people out there. I just have a thing for characters knowingly doing terrible things because they feel like they've got no choice, or it's for a good reason. And I really especially love it when they realize they were wrong and completely fall apart under the weight of all their sins. Which I doubt will happen to canon Fintan, but he seems to be accepting that he was too hasty and made mistakes. I also tend to make him more subdued... while I appreciate his flair for the dramatics, he's absolutely got it in him to work from the shadows and I want to use that more. He doesn't go around telling people anything! He only does so when it's advantageous! I also really like to bring forth one aspect of him that doesn't get mentioned nearly enough, and that's the fact that he just can't stop mentoring people. Like, he's got three kids he's taught that we know personally + a bunch more in the past!

My Fintan's full of contradictions--which is on purpose. He might care, but he won't let that get in his way, y'know?

hunter being a trans guy is so funny because like

possibility 1:

wittebro was a trans guy living in 1600s connecticut and nobody batted an eye

possibility 2:

belos makes hunter and is like "aw shit, this one's got the wrong bits. oh well, guess i'll raise it as a boy anyway. luckily those loathesome 'transgender' witches have invented potions for this- y'know, if i don't kill him before he reaches puberty"

possibility 3:

belos makes hunter and is like "aw shit, this one's got the wrong bits. guess i'll have to deal with a girl for the next couple decades, it'd be too much work to kill and remake this one just because it came out wrong."

and then hunter gets older and is like "uncle, i wanna be a boy"

and belos is too busy being like "all according to keikaku" to be transphobic about it. task failed successfully.
