#like post vulgate sucks for many reasons BUT#okay well first of all Tor<3#but also it has some interesting Agravaine/Gaheris/Gareth stuff#Gawain is imprisoned rn & Mordred is not around yet#sort of building on stuff from very early vulgate when orkneys were fighting the saxons#Agravaine and Gaheris have a weird rivalry Gareth is constantly trying to defuse#but my rotten brain sides with Agravaine lmao#hear me out#Arthur promised to knight him first and the logic checks out: he's older#only for some random mute madman to storm in and demand Gaheris go first#its taken as a sign from God so the promise to Agravaine is just like....whatever all of a sudden#idk i know Agravaine is supposed to be in the wring here#he literally says#my lord if you please you should make me a knight before everyone for I'm older than he and you've promised me#arthur says#good nephew the wish and sign of Our Lord surpass any promise#which I mean okay but like where was the Lord when you tried killing your own son and burning your wife at the stake eh?#let Agravaine have this one thing lol#and then Gareth....weeping for Agravaine to stay at court with him and not chase after Gaheris#owie????#my post
