Sport e disabilità: sabato alla Sciorba. Genova, si svolgerà sabato 23 settembre presso l’impianto polisportivo My Sport Village Sciorba la terza edizione dello SportAbility Day, la festa di sport, amicizia e inclusione promossa dall’Associazione Stelle nello Sport in partnership con My Sport Sciorba con il sostegno di Regione Liguria, Comune di Genova, Fondazione Carige e Fondazione Insuperabili Eco Eridania, il patrocinio di Sport e Salute, Coni, Cip e Ufficio Scolastico regionale per la Liguria, Università di Genova, Ussi Liguria e Panathlon e la collaborazione del Municipio Media Valbisagno. L’evento, totalmente gratuito, è dedicato a persone con disabilità fisica motoria, sensoriale e intellettivo relazionale che potranno provare 33 discipline sportive, guidati da oltre 50 istruttori qualificati, e assistere ad eventi “integrati” di calcio, volley e hockey in cui atleti normodotati e con disabilità giocheranno insieme. L’evento è inserito nella Settimana Europea dello Sport sotto l’egida della Commissione Europea con il patrocinio del Dipartimento dello Sport – Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri. E’ la festa del progetto “SportAbility”, lanciato da Stelle nello Sport nel 2021 per diffondere i valori dello sport e promuovere una crescita inclusiva, relazionale e sana. Lo SportAbility Day sarà anche l’evento di inaugurazione del nuovo manto in erba sintetica della Sciorba realizzato da My Sport con un importante investimento che rende ancora più efficiente il più importante impianto sportivo della Liguria. Appuntamento alle ore 10 sul campo e sulla pista di atletica dello Stadium. Nel pomeriggio (a partire dalle ore 15) spazio anche agli sport acquatici in Piscina. La giornata si aprirà con la tradizionale sfilata di tutti i partecipanti a cui verrà donato il cappellino ufficiale dello SportAbility Day. Al loro fianco i campioni paralimpici Francesco Bocciardo (Nuotatori Genovesi/Fiamme Oro) e Vittorio Podestà ("A Ruota Libera" Chiavari). Con loro anche la sincronetta Marta Cantero (Chiavari Nuoto), Vittoria Oliva (Tennistavolo Verzuolo), le veliste Valia Galdi ed Eleonora Ferroni (LNI Chiavari e Lavagna), il canottiere Gian Filippo Mirabile (Sportiva Murcarolo), Andrea Modica (Art4Sport), Maurizio Lo Bartolo (canottaggio e subacquea), Agnese Spotorno (Cambiaso Risso Special Team), Bogdan Tadeusz Lawicki (My Sport Nuoto). Al fianco di SportAbility anche il pallavolista Enrico Zappavigna, il powerchair player Davide Sciuva, il triathleta Giovanni Sciaccaluga, la canoista Amanda Embriaco, l’amazzone Francesca Salvadè, il calciatore azzurro ipovedente Fabio Cazzanti. Allo SportAbility Day sarà possibile provare 33 discipline sportive: Arrampicata, Atletica Leggera, Badminton, Baseball, Bocce, Calcio, Calciobalilla, Calcio Free Style, Canottaggio, Ciclismo, CrossFit Boost, Danza Sportiva, Didattica Subacquea, Ginnastica, Gioco Sport, Hockey su prato, Jet Ski Therapy, Judo e Ju Jitsu, Nuoto, Nuoto Sincronizzato, Pallacanestro, Pallavolo, Pet Therapy, Powerchair Hockey, Rugby, Scherma, Sport Equestri, Taekwondo, Tennis, Tennistavolo, Tiro con l’Arco e Vela. Saranno presenti i rappresentanti di Genova Solving for All e ritornerà nella Piscina della Sciorba lo “Swim Lift” presentato in anteprima lo scorso anno. A supportare famiglie e sportivi sarà lo staff composto da studenti del corso di Laurea in Scienze Motorie dell’Università di Genova. Una classe dell’Istituto Firpo Buonarroti parteciperà al progetto realizzando attività didattiche e supportando l’organizzazione. Sarà presente anche lo stand di Amiu che supporta il progetto “Giochiamo Pulito” promosso da Stelle nello Sport. Novità di questa edizione è la presenza di Orientamenti, progetto di Regione Liguria, che si impegna nello stare affianco a tutte le famiglie della Liguria, aiutando i giovani a scoprire i propri sogni, interessi e passioni, così come a supportare i genitori nello svolgere il loro ruolo fondamentale in questi momenti di crescita così importanti. Allo stand di Orientamenti sarà possibile parlare con esperti e trovare diverse risorse e strumenti orientativi pensati per essere di supporto alle famiglie di ragazzi con disabilità. Partner dell’evento sono anche Decathlon, Federazione Regionale Misericordie Liguria e BIC Genova con il prezioso coordinamento dei tornei di calcio integrato. A tutti i ragazzi sarà offerta la merenda grazie ai prodotti offerti da Panarello e Tossini. Ad applaudire e incoraggiare i ragazzi sul campo ci saranno importanti testimonial sportivi quali Marco Lanna, Christian Puggioni, Claudio Onofri, Enrico Nicolini, Simone Spinelli (ideatore di We Play Football) a Fabio Incorvaia (promotore della Jetski Therapy). “Lo SportAbility Day in pochissimi anni è già entrato nel cuore di tutti i genovesi e liguri”, dichiara l’assessore allo sport di Regione Liguria, Simona Ferro. “Nel 2021 abbiamo sostenuto con convinzione la nascita di questo ulteriore progetto di Stelle nello Sport e oggi siamo orgogliosi dell’importante ruolo che riveste a livello regionale per la promozione dello sport a 360 gradi, senza alcuna barriera o pregiudizio. Anche questa edizione 2023, ricca di sorprese e novità, ci insegna ad andare oltre ai propri limiti senza permettere che le disabilità diventino ostacoli insormontabili. Una grande lezione di sport e di vita che non passerà mai di moda”. “Lo SportAbility Day - spiega l’assessore allo Sport del Comune di Genova, Alessandra Bianchi - rappresenta il momento più importante di un progetto che dura tutto l’anno, SportAbility, che grazie allo staff di Stelle nello Sport consente di poter parlare ogni giorno di sport e inclusione non solo attraverso le imprese di sportivi paralimpici ma anche grazie all’impegno profuso da molteplici associazioni per migliorare la qualità della vita attraverso l’attività sportiva. Ho ancora negli occhi l’emozionante sfilata di oltre 750 ragazzi e delle loro società sportive, tutti uniti dal comune amore per lo sport, e per Genova è davvero un orgoglio poter contare straordinari ambasciatori quali, ad esempio, il pluricampione Francesco Bocciardo. Come Amministrazione, proiettati verso un 2024 che vedrà Genova capitale europea dello Sport, siamo al lavoro per promuovere i valori di inclusività e di crescita non solo fisica ma anche personale e sociale. L’obiettivo dello SportAbility Day è quello di far provare tante discipline diverse a ragazzi che ancora non si sono avvicinati allo sport e non hanno potuto godere dei suoi straordinari valori e benefici. “La disabilità è negli occhi di chi la guarda”, ricorda Francesco Bocciardo, storico testimonial del progetto. “Lo sport ha avuto un ruolo fondamentale nella mia crescita personale – racconta il pluricampione paralimpico - e molto spesso mi capita di fermarmi a pensare e realizzo che oggi non sarei la persona che sono, se non avessi fatto sport. Per questo, con gli amici di Stelle nello Sport, voglio che sempre più ragazzi si avvicinino alla magia dello sport. L’educazione sportiva mi ha dato moltissimo, soprattutto la capacità di riuscire a resistere alle pressioni esterne o interne a cui il mondo dello sport sottopone, cosa che mi è servita tanto nella vita di tutti i giorni. Invito tutti i ragazzi disabili a venire con le loro famiglie e gli amici sabato alla Sciorba. Troveranno una disciplina ideale per loro e potranno iniziare un percorso sportivo che potrà cambiare la loro vita, come è accaduto a me”. Tanti sport da provare ma anche alcuni eventi da ammirare. Sui 3 campi di calcio si sfideranno le numerose formazioni che parteciperanno ai tornei. Al mattino quello di “calcio integrato” con gli atleti “special” che giocheranno al fianco dei calciatori di Arquatese, Athletic Albaro, Baiardo, Campomorone, Città Giardino, Genoa, Lavagnese, Ligorna, Pontedecimo, Sampdoria. Nel pomeriggio, poi, si terrà il Torneo di Calcio Quarta Categoria FIGC con la presenza di BIC Genova, Insuperabili, Genoa for Special, Samp for Special, WePlayFootball. Nell’area del Volley la novità del torneo integrato con le ragazze di Normac Avb, Serteco Volley School e Normac Vgp. Prima volta anche per l’Hockey con la partecipazione degli atleti di Genova Hockey 1980 e Liguria Hockey Club. Per quanto riguarda le attività in Piscina è necessario presentarsi muniti di costume, ciabatte, accappatoio e cuffia. Dalle ore 15 alle 16 sarà possibile fare prove di apnea con istruttori Fipsas. Poi alle 16 l’esibizione della campionessa di sincro Marta Cantero e a seguire la grande staffetta di nuoto per tutti, coordinata da My Sport Special Olympics, con il pluricampione paralimpico Francesco Bocciardo. PETTING

There was a time petting was an All American sport. Sexual touching short of intercourse of any kind. The whole gambit: vaginal, oral and anal. If I missed one form, I apologize.

I decided to write about petting today because of the Cuomo “scandal.” If my recollection proves correct, none of the three variations mentioned have been claimed to have occurred. Involved was some touching, a quick kiss on the cheek, perhaps one quickie on the lips, holding, rubbing non sexual body parts except for the breasts. It is alleged the breasts were touched from outside the dress or blouse, expect in one instance. In that, the woman claims he put his hand under her blouse. No mention if the bra or flesh itself was touched. Less I forget, some sexual conversation. Nothing that could be described as dirty.

All of this resulting in a major scandal.

Lets go back to the 1920’s and 1930’s. Sexual women, scandalous women, were known as flappers.

It was 1931. The air on Chicago’s 57th Street art colony crackled with “sexual tension.” What once was a wild bohemian party was now something more intimate.

A “petting party” was going on. The event took place in a night club, bar, private group parties, wherever. This particular one a night club. Privacy not a concern. The woman was the attacker/provocateur. One woman and six men. Clothes always remained on. Private parts never shown.

The solitary woman caressed and touched the six men. That’s all. Again, she never went all the way. The woman would mingle and eventually start kissing, and then move on to something more intimate Again, short of actual sex. The men were not permitted to touch back.

Petting had become the fad of the time. It titillated youth, socialized adults and stoked the myth of the immoral flapper. Women drank alcohol, smoked cigarettes, chasing a life style that would have been unthinkable. Dabbled in bohemianism. Hair cuts were were short. Dress showed off a woman’s fabulously slender figure. Her talk used daring slang. She would date multiple men before marriage.

These were liberated women. The petting parties epitomized everything that was evil about the Jazz Age. The parties all had the same goal: Physical pleasure.

Note, these were not orgies. A far cry from them. They encouraged experimentation and created clear limits.

Petting had a flexible meaning for participants. For some, merely a long kiss. For others, more intense physical conduct. As already described, initiated by women. They did the touching, the men did not touch in return.

The petting party was a means for a woman to be safe yet not sorry. A way to explore her sexuality without experiencing things like the loss of virginity, pregnancy, or sexually transmitted infections.

Senior citizens looked down on women who participated in these events. Simply stated, bad girls. The playing was not considered healthy.

Flappers wanted to party instead of settling down. The Washington Post in a 1924 article wrote one study which indicated 92 percent of college women had tried petty partying. Another study found 62 percent of women thought the practice was essential in order to be popular.

The Washington Post further intimated women preferred petting to outright sex since the same would preserve their reputations. They were living in a time where their reputations could still be irreparably damaged by divorce or an illegitimate child.

If petting parties are rare today, it’s not because they are no longer needed. The mores of today frown not on divorce or illegitimacy. Even real sex outside of marriage is acceptable.

One of the loves of my life is my grandson Robert Malcom. He is a senior at the Key West High School..

Yesterday’s Key West Citizen ran an article about a “Senior Sportable.” Robert was the person interviewed for the article.

Robert is a top tennis player. The interview was excellent. As were Robert’s responses.

His life is before him. It should be a good one. As long as he keep thinking and doing as he is. I am a born worrier. Concerned might be a better description. I have seen too many changes on the part of our young ones as they get out into the world.

Steve’s progress is amazing. In 1975, he opened his third Key West Taco Company store. This one in Cocoa Beach. Not just a shack on the beach selling tacos through a tiny window. Cocoa Beach was a huge magnificent building. I have seen photos of it. He also had a band that played in the back.

Steve operated Cocoa Beach into the 1990’s.

Everywhere Steve goes, he has a “star” associated some how with him. In Cocoa Beach, it was Kelly Slater.

Slater was an American professional surfer. Considered the best in the U.S. for 11 years. Unprecedented. No one has passed the mark he set.

Common application of adjustable portable heat gun

Adjustable heat guns are used in a variety of project from refurbishing old furniture, repairing car bumper, defrost water pipes to fairly advanced applications like cable terminals, car covering or soft welding.

1. PVC Pipe Bending – Plumbers love adjustable heat guns for this reason. Using a soldering heat gun and a special wire coil you can bend a piece of PVC pipe at just about any angle without using any adhesives or elbow joints. Not only convenient but also dramatically speeds up the job because you don’t have to wait for any glue to dry before testing if the seal around the joint is ok.

2. Upholstering Furniture – This is mostly used when upholstering with vinyl. The heat makes it much easier to stretch the vinyl around the piece of furniture you are upholstering. When it cools it will be a perfectly fitted upholstery job.

3. Window Tinting – What you’re actually doing here is heat shrinking the tint film to the window. All you need is tint, a smoothing tool and, of course, a adjustable heat gun.

4. Dent Removal – For small shallow dents that don’t have creases in it may be able to be removed yourself. Using a sportable heat gun, gently warm the area then apply dry ice to quickly cool the metal contracting it and popping out the dent. 

5. Vinyl and Leather Repair – Trimming stray fibers, applying adhesive and filler compound, press a special textured cloth over the tear, heat with adjustable heat gun. That's all there is to a do-it-yourself vinyl and leather repair.
