Mousegirl May Day 9: Squeaky

My cat has an electronic mouse toy that makes a squeaking sound if it’s moved even a tiny bit. She likes the sound, but doesn’t really like the toy - she prefers chasing string.

Out of curiosity, two days ago, I decided to come over and pet my cat every time the mousie squeaked, to see if she would make the association between the mousie sound and my attention.

And now, I will never know peace.

Cat is hungry? Squeak SQUEAK squeaky squeak

Cat is bored? Squeaksqueaksqueaksqueak

I am in the same room as cat but am not actively petting her? SQUEAKY squeakySQUEAK squeak

I was petting the cat but then got up to use the bathroom? *muffled squeak squeak squeaky squeak*

Cat is awake? SqueaksqueaksqueaksqueakSQUEAKSQUEAKSQUEAKSQUEAK

I’m glad she’s found a way to express herself, but I am regretting giving my cat a voice. She is using her newfound communication skills to declare that Kitty Time Is All The Time.
