There’s something hauntingly off about the Bleach ending

Bleach 686 (and onward) has a weird, almost purgatorial vibe to it. 

Chad, who swore to only use his strength and powers to protect people and not harm others, is now a champion boxer. (?)

Ishida, whose passion lied with sewing and fashion, whose biggest fear was to end up like his father, is now a doctor and alone. (??)

Orihime COULD have had the chance to mature and outgrow her high school crush, to develop as her own person and hone her own interests, aspirations, and passions, (in her five lifetimes speech she also mentioned wanting five different careers, live in five different places) but she’s a doting housewife k 

And Ichigo. The guy who always felt like a misfit in the human world, who yearned for something more than his life, who felt most alive and electric and fulfilled as a shinigami than anything else, Ichigo with overwhelming power and an insane desire to save and protect and kick ass, is now a married guy with kids. And he’s got a bad haircut? And the girl he’s married to (while sweet and kind and beautiful) does not challenge him in any way, shape or form. (??????)

Also this spread this fucking spread 

like good old buddies and bros ichigo and rukia get totally platonic spreads like this bad boy 

and canon ichihime get this weird pose where ichigo kinda has his elbow on her head and orihime’s crumpled and nervous and crouched? the fuck

also don’t even get me started on this injustice

it’s like Kubo is trying to convince himself (or not-so-subtly confirming that this ending is indeed shit) that this ending is sane and the art just screams otherwise, like the novels and strips he did afterwards just further prove this like look at this shit

we do KNOT always love you?? not and knot sound so darn similar gosh such interesting homophones huh 

Also you really gon try and tell me that’s the face of a glowing bride?? Rukia looks terrified and Byakuya looks depressy probably bc he’s marrying his sister off to his bf

also the drawing of ichigo confessing his bullshit “crush” on orihime 

they look so stiff and awkward like I KNOWW Kubo knows how to draw a couple with chemistry bc we’ve got this

look at the flow and how their bodies just curve towards each other and please go ahead and compare it to ichigo and orihime who look distant and stiff as rails, like strangers making reluctant small talk at a party

also the fact that Kubo and Bleach team continues to market stickers and posters with Ichigo and Rukia together instead of the canon couples 

the whole thing is just fishy, I have no idea what Kubo’s motives were or what compelled him to change evERYTHING for the worse but I honestly don’t believe he wanted things this way i dunno I’m rambling but the ending just feels OFF
