Deadlines: friend or foe? 🦋 Another day, another couple of rows. It's slow going but still steady progress. Are you a fan if easy or hard projects? 🦋 Even though I'm tired* bordering on delirious I still have work to do...so many projects that need work done on them. Taking a break is a luxury I don't have and so I just shift the pace at which I work and accept that things will take longer. 🦋 So of course I want to pick something complicated...why wouldn't I?!? But really I need something to engage my brain. I joined a sock group in FB...which might have been a mistake (or maybe not) because I keep seeing so many awesome socks. 🦋 It also reminds me of the sock yarn I have waiting to be turned into socks. Just two more rows and I'll have completed this pattern repeat. These last two rows are going to take me to task though as I have to rewrite parts of the stitch pattern so the math is right and the flowers are properly centered. 🦋 Things I didn't consider when deciding that this must be a cardigan and that Ii wanted it tailored...le sigh. Hawk over there side eye, judging me...wanting to know why I'm just looking at my knitting instead of actually knitting... 🦋 For real though...I'm down to the last 2 rows of the pattern repeat which means it's almost picture time again. It will also put the kibosh on working on this more after that is done...because daylight. 🦋 Real talk though...my focus is fuzzy in the evening. After the wee bit is off my brain seems to slip into disassociation more easily too. Project Time this morning gives evidence of painting my little's "fingermails" as they are called. And isn't that rather apropos given how our nails protect us? What are you enjoying right now? 🦋 Sitting here deciding what to work in this evening. Starting off a little late because I was on a roll cleaning the office. 🦋 During this isolation nothing much has changed over here. What's your favorite way to make notations on your creative works? 🦋 I finally tinked back to where I made my mistake the other day so now I'm ready to try the decorative stitch row again. Do your ideas seem to grow like untamed weeds in weird ways? 🦋 As the design grows so do the additional parts I find myself in need of to create. What started out as 4 stitch markers has become 12. Not that they will be necessary for future construction (some not all) but in placing & counting very much so. 🦋 I find it just easier to expect this and write down the amendments as I go versus trying to predict them all... something that would surely drive me to madness (further than I already exist that is 🤪.) 🦋 This also means that there is no need of remembering after the fact, which I find to be difficult as well. I find that in the process of creating things they get messier before they get cleaner (or clearer as the case may be). 🦋 There is sorting, rehashing, troubleshooting, and generally trying things out. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they must be reworked in order to work. 🦋 This is the third time for this...after MANY a slip of paper and much arguing & cursing of arithmetic. Seriously been struggling with this all done the last 48 hours...but nooooooo I'm not bitter or anything. Nope, not me. 😒🙄🤔 🦋 Fo' real though, I got an idea and it consumed my brain. Which is not something that I have much control over (I could ignore it but that goes against how I function and we don't need any undue stress 'round here...) 🦋 On the other hand...if I can sort this out this will be ALL THE AMAZINGS...AND the first tailored from scratch piece (which is the direction my work is moving in). Don't mind me...just designing a custom fit sweater for myself. 🦋 Or at least that's the intention... 🦋 I am finally giving up balking at becoming a designer in a more prominent way in my work. Releasing the idea that it's too hard (matter of perspective) or too much work (more perspective + things worth doing aren't necessarily easy). 🦋 I'm starting with my measurements...but may make a general pattern later...depending on how much of a nightmare this turns out to be.
