HISTORY OF BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange)
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) is the oldest stock exchange in Asia and one of the largest in the world. It was established in 1875 as "The Native Share & Stock Brokers Association" and was later renamed as the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The BSE began as a small group of brokers trading under a banyan tree outside the Town Hall in Mumbai. Over the years, it grew in size and significance, becoming the hub of the Indian stock market. In 1957, the BSE became the first stock exchange in India to be recognized by the government.
The BSE was initially a manual stock exchange, with trades being recorded by hand and communicated via runners and telegrams. In the late 1980s, the BSE shifted to an electronic trading platform, making it one of the first exchanges in the world to do so.
In 1994, the BSE launched the S&P BSE SENSEX, which is a market index that tracks the performance of the 30 largest and most liquid companies listed on the exchange. The SENSEX has since become the benchmark index for the Indian stock market, reflecting the overall performance of the market.
Today, the BSE has over 5,000 listed companies and is the largest stock exchange in India by market capitalization. It is also the first exchange in India to obtain recognition as a stock exchange from the Government of India under the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956.
In recent years, the BSE has focused on expanding its global reach and increasing its technology offerings. It has established several international offices and has developed a range of technology-driven products and services to support the growing needs of the market.
Overall, the BSE has played a crucial role in the development of the Indian economy and remains a key player in the global financial landscape.

VEGOILS-Palm oil marginally lower on rising inventories NEW DELHI, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures fell marginally on Wednesday after industry data showed inventories in the world's second-largest producer rose more than expected last month. The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for November delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange was down 24 ringgit, or 0.62%, at 3,9099 ringgit ($9,036.05) a metric ton by the midday break. On Tuesday, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) said the country's palm oil stocks at the end of August rose 7.34% from the previous month to 1.88 million metric tons, the highest level in six months. Crude palm oil production gained 2.87% to 1.89 million metric tons, while palm oil exports fell 9.74% to 1.53 million metric tons, the board said. A Reuters survey had forecast inventories at 1.86 million metric tons, with output seen at 1.89 million metric tons and exports at 1.5 million metric tons. The market is trading sideways due to a lack of clarity "over the future course of price action and also (the) market is waiting for Indonesian palm oil export levies and duty policy revision," said Anilkumar Bagani, head of research at Mumbai-based vegetable oil broker Sunvin group. Indonesia, the biggest palm oil exporter, plans to lower export duties to improve competitiveness and raise farmers' income. Palm oil FCPOc3 may break support at 3,856 ringgit per metric ton and fall towards the 3,782 ringgit to 3,796 ringgit range. Oil prices climbed on Wednesday, paring some of the previous day's losses, as concerns about Hurricane Francine disrupting output in the U.S. - the world's biggest producer - outweighed worries about weak global demand. O/R Asian equities and U.S. stock futures slipped on Wednesday, while the dollar was on the back foot after a feisty U.S. presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump kept investors on edge. ($1 = 4.3270 ringgit)

SEBI is investigating Quant Mutual Fund! The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), which serves as the regulatory authority overseeing India's capital markets, has initiated an investigation into Quant Mutual Fund, a financial entity valued at $11 billion and owned by Sandeep Tandon. This inquiry has been prompted by allegations of front-running, a practice where individuals with advanced knowledge of upcoming trades exploit this information for their own profit, potentially undermining market integrity. Front-running is an unlawful activity in which an intermediary, such as a dealer or broker, leverages confidential information about forthcoming large transactions. These transactions are expected to have a significant impact on the price of an asset. By using this non-public knowledge, the intermediary engages in personal trades to gain an unfair advantage and benefit financially. For instance, if the intermediary knows that a large purchase order is imminent, they might buy the asset beforehand, expecting its price to rise. Conversely, if a large sell order is anticipated, they might sell the asset short, predicting a price drop, thereby securing substantial profits through these manipulative practices.
SEBI has conducted search & seizure operations on the Fund’s Mumbai and Hyderabad offices while questioning several dealers and persons associated with the fund. According to sources, the profits from this front-running operation came up to Rs 20 crores! Quant Mutual Fund is the fastest-growing mutual fund in India. From an AUM of around Rs 100 crores in 2019, the fund has grown to manage 8 million folios and Rs 93,000 crores in assets!! It has clarified the probe to its investors. It issued a statement where it assured investors by saying that it is ‘fully committed to cooperating with the regulator’ and that it will be providing all necessary support and data when SEBI needs it. Stock Exchanges: Where Shares Are Bought & Sold
Tumblr media
Stock exchanges are centralized markets where securities, including stocks, bonds, and other financial instruments, are bought and sold. These exchanges provide a platform for buyers and sellers to interact and facilitate the trading of these securities. Here are some key points about stock exchanges:
1. Primary Function:
The primary function of a stock exchange is to provide liquidity and a marketplace for the buying and selling of securities.
2. How They Work:
Buyers (investors) place orders to buy a security at a specific price, while sellers place orders to sell at a particular price.
The exchange matches buy and sell orders, and when a match occurs, a trade is executed.
3. Key Components:
Listed Securities: Only securities listed on the exchange can be traded. Listing involves meeting specific requirements set by the exchange.
Brokers: Individuals or firms that facilitate transactions on behalf of investors.
Market Makers: Entities that provide liquidity by quoting bid and ask prices.
4. Examples of Stock Exchanges:
Major Global Exchanges:
New York Stock Exchange (NYSE): Located in the United States, one of the largest and oldest stock exchanges globally.
NASDAQ: Also based in the United States, known for technology and internet-based companies.
Indian Stock Exchanges:
National Stock Exchange (NSE): One of the leading stock exchanges in India, based in Mumbai.
Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE): Another major exchange in India, also headquartered in Mumbai.
Other Global Exchanges:
London Stock Exchange (LSE): Located in the United Kingdom.
Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE): Based in Japan.
5. Trading Mechanisms:
a. Auction System:
The traditional method where buyers and sellers interact through an open outcry system on the trading floor.
b. Electronic Trading:
Most modern exchanges use electronic trading platforms, allowing for faster and more efficient transactions.
6. Market Indices:
Many stock exchanges have market indices that represent the overall performance of a group of stocks. Examples include the S&P 500, NIFTY 50, and Sensex.
7. Regulation:
Exchanges are regulated by financial authorities to ensure fair and transparent trading practices. Regulatory bodies set rules for listing, trading, and disclosure requirements.
8. IPOs (Initial Public Offerings):
Companies can go public by listing their shares on a stock exchange through an IPO, making their shares available for public trading.

What is a mutual fund?
When starting in the trading space, people often need clarification on the various options for investing their money. The most popular investment products are stocks, futures and options, and mutual funds. Mutual funds are the most popular amongst beginners and experts and provide a very simple, low-risk, and stable flow.
What is a mutual fund?
In layman's terms, a mutual fund is a carefully thought out collection of stocks chosen by a group of expert market analysts and sold together as a group in shares. For example, if a group of people makes a mutual fund with ten high-performance stocks and offers them at a specific rate, each stock will be diluted by the amount of people investing in it. The larger the size of the mutual fund, the more investors it can have for investment.
Mutual funds are an excellent option for beginners because you don't need to learn in-depth analysis of performances, and you don't have to do a lot of maths, either. Mutual funds are carefully curated by experts so that they give the best possible returns with as low risk as possible. There are a lot of banks that run mutual funds in their name.
These days, you don't need to visit any particular stockbroker firm or bank to open a Demat account and start investing. In the digital age, where everything is available at your fingertips, broker firms like Angel have developed their investment applications. AngelOne is a popular application owned by the Angel broker firm based in Mumbai.
Why mutual funds
Analyzing a mutual fund's performance is comparably easier than analyzing other investment products, especially if you have a broker application that is feature-packed. Many factors account for the performance of a mutual fund, like the shares it holds, the fund cap, the SIP amount, the minimum investment amount, the returns and interest, etc.
Mutual funds also can be a recurring investment in the form of SIPs. SIP stands for a systematic investment plan, which means you spend a certain amount of money in a mutual fund monthly for compounding returns. SIPs are super beneficial for long-term investment plans with low risks.
AngelOne provides you with a one-stop destination for all your investment needs. The application provides you with a live graph of how a mutual fund is performing. Angelone also provides an SIP calculator that helps you calculate the amount of returns you will receive if you put in a certain amount of money for a specific time based on whether a recurring or a one-time investment. Angelone also allows you to open your demat and trading account within a few minutes in the application and daily news regarding the investment market.

DAY 399 - *Radhakishan Damani - A silent billionaire!!!* - A must read
Early Life:
RKD was born on 12 January 1954 in a Marvari family in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
His father, Shivkishan Damani was a stock broker. RKD completed his early schooling in Bikaner.
Later he went to Mumbai for completing his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mumbai university.
He was a business mind person from his early days. In middle he left his commerce education and started a Ball Bearing business.
Joined broking business:
After the death of his father he left his business and joined broking business with his elder brother Gopikishan.
After spending some time in broking he realized that, to make big he has to take active part in stock market.
At the age of 32 he entered in stock market. Manu manik was his mentor in initial days. Rkd learned short selling from him.
Harshad Mehta entered in 90s. Who was the the super bull in those days. He used to manipulate the stocks.
In 90s RKD made handsome money by short selling.
Once RKD was short on the market & Harshad was long. RKD panicked coz the stocks were going up. Harshad was manipulating the scripts.
But fortunately Sucheta Dalal mam exposed the scam of Harshad and due to that entire market collapsed. RKD made huge money. It happened in 1992.
Once RKD told, he would have gone bankrupt if harshad had held the position for 7 more days. But luck favoured him.
Super investor:
He understood that, short selling is very risky & to create wealth he has to invest for long term.
Then RKD came across a great value investor Chandrakant Sampat. Sampat sir used to invest in undervalued, high quality and lesser known companies.
He inspired a lot by Sampat sir. Gave up on trading and shifted his focus on long term value investing.
He made handsome money in VST, Gillette, Colgate, Jubiliant foodwork, Nestle, HUL, 3M, Sundaram Finance, Hdfc Bank.
In 1995 he was the largest individual investor in a bank. He made killing there.
He bought VST industries at the price of 85, today its trading at 3400rs/share. He still holds this.
Super businessman:
After successful career in stock market he started his third inning as a businessman in 1999.
He was interested in a retail business. He bought a franchise of Apna Bazaar in 1999. He didn't like the model and closed it immediately.
Then he went to America to study the business model of worlds largest retail chain Walmart.
He really liked the model and decided to apply it into India more effectively.
So, in 2000 he founded Avenues super mart, the parent company of Dmart.
He launched first store in 2001 in Mumbai. Daily discounts, daily savings was their tagline.
Low interior cost. No store in a mall. Purchase in bulk increased their bargaining power.
Everyday low price. They were selling at much cheaper price than competitor.
Dmart became massive hit!!!
Low margin but high inventory turnover helped them to make superb return on capital.
Everybody wanted to sell their products in Dmart, so they started charging slotting fees.
They followed slow and steady store growth strategy. RKD focused on the profitability over growth.
Till 2011 they just has 25 stores. As they keep generating robust cash flows, they slowly expanded across the nation. Today thay have 325+ stores.
Mr. White and white:
Today he is the 8th riches person in India.
He rarely appears on media. He love staying low profile.
He always wear white shirt and white. Live simple.
Thats why street use to Call him Mr White and White.
One quote of Buffet precisely applicable for him,

VEGOILS-Palm oil eases on subdued demand, lower inventories cap decline KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures slipped on Monday, weighed down by lacklustre global demand although shrinking inventories in the world's second largest producer capped the fall in prices. The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for June delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange slid 5 ringgit, or 0.12%, to 4,277 ringgit ($895.71) a metric ton by the midday break. "Market got some support from resumption of Chinese palm oil buying on Friday but other destinations were lacking charm," said Anilkumar Bagani, research head of Mumbai-based vegetable oils broker Sunvin Group. Malaysia's palm oil stocks at theend of March fell 10.68% from the previous month to 1.71 million metric tons, the lowest in ten months, as a surge in exports overshadowed output, according to Malaysian Palm Oil Board data released on Monday. Crude palm oil production gained 10.57% to 1.39 million tons for the period, while palm oil exports ticked up 28.61% to 1.32 million tons, according to the data. Production in April will likely be smaller than March due to slower harvesting during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holidays during the first half of the month, which would further deplete inventories, Bagani said. Cargo surveyors are also expected to release export estimates for April 1-15. Oil prices fell on Monday as market participants dialled back risk premiums following Iran's attack on Israel late on Saturday, which the Israeli government said caused limited damage. Weaker crude oil futures make palm a less attractive option for biodiesel feedstock. Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 rose 0.66% while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 lost 0.64%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 were up 0.59%. Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market. Palm oil may bounce to 4,326 ringgit per metric ton, as it stabilised around support of 4,242 ringgit, Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao said. ($1 = 4.7750 ringgit)
