#sujin: let's talk about the WORST possible scenario first

Sujin was almost ashamed of how terrified he was. Then again, was there any guy who wasn't nervous, meeting their girlfriend's parents for the first time? The jitters simply meant that he cared. A lot. At least that was what he told himself as he stared into the mirror and straightened his collar for the fifth time.

Hailey was over, helping him prepare. Sujin had a stack of potential gifts sitting in the corner of the room and requested that she look them over and take out any that weren't going to work. The only thing he was certain about was the bouquet, which his mother arranged and handed to him this morning. She also offered him a pat on the head, which he lightly scowled at because he was too old for the gesture, but her whispered good luck after he did accept.

"So, I was thinking..." His girlfriend was still looking through the gifts. Sujin would have left her to it except this topic was kind of a pressing one. "Hailey." And when her attention didn't immediately come to him after he called her name, Sujin decided to take action.

An arm looped around Hailey's waist, pulling her back from the unnecessarily large pile of gift options and against Sujin's chest. "Let's take a break," he mumbled, picking her up so they could relocate to the living room sofa.

He moved aside some cushions to make room before sitting down with the girl on his lap. "Even if they don't like me," he said. "You can't break up with me, okay?" Sujin kept both of his arms around Hailey's waist. "You know how I am. First meetings tend to go poorly. I almost always need a second chance."
