The #lighthouse of #Andros most certainly draws one’s attention and inspires to imagine. And most certainly at 7 (or was it 8?) Beaufort. What wondrous tales it might have hosted? Tales of #solitude and #wilfullness, maybe? Of rescue and death? Of hope and exasperation? Not that I know of any. They’re only in my mind. Another picture taken during our visit to #Andros for the art project #My_Andros organised by #gr_events. Thank you @elaki26 and @gvergados for making it an unforgettable event. Saturday was a very stormy day on the island, with wind up to 7 Beaufort (or was it 8?). The words I heard the most were “poli aera”, which, you might have guessed it, translates to “a lot of wind”. It is very helpful for my learning the Greek language, when vocabulary is unmistakably backed up by nature’s great force. I had never seen the #Mediterranean in turmoil like that. It was a #spectacle to see the huge waves rolling in, one after the other, bursting into tiny droplets all along the Chora coastline. Like ethereal sculptures of a restless sea. The beauty of nature - humbling and exhilarating all at once. There is an old Greek song, saying that if you are looking for a #captain, you should take one from Andros.
