how "mutant-y" can our powers get? should they be kinetic / under the surface type things or could they be physical / have physical manifestations like someone who can shapeshift, someone with bird wings, someone with kinetic abilities that idk make their eyes glow or something. i'm just wondering if there was the possibility of physical traits that could give away a person's mutant status or not? hope this makes sense!!!

Plot Idea: MC is in their early twenties, attending a university designed for those with powers, and YC is a transfer student (or transfer professor!). This university is also designed to train heroes and bounty hunters. YC immediately hears rumors about the strongest guy in the university and how he should never be messed with, and to avoid at all costs (That'd be MC.) MC has a mysterious and tragic past lurking behind him, and does not let anyone close to him because of it. Eventually, our guys become acquaintances and then friends w/benefits (Up to you as we go with the flow) and then lovers before the school year ends. Before the school year ends, that's when things take a nose dive. MC's past comes back to haunt him, and he flees the school after causing immense damage to the buildings and murdering hundreds of students. Without any explanation, he leaves YC in the dust. Fast forward some years later, our guys run into each other again, on opposite sides of the playing field. Will MC finally open up to YC, will YC accept him, will MC leave YC behind again, or will these two meet their tragic end?
