Watercolours painted “en plein air” provided much of the inspiration for this painting of Sur in Oman. Sur is famous for its dhow building. These ancient vessels are very paintable. OMAN 2013 . After Jordan my journey took me to this Sultanate. Oman is fascinating - until the 70's the capital Muscat still closed the middleage doors and the kingdom had just 10 km of streets. -Buildings cant be higher than 4 floors - The Sultan visits every years the tribals. And at the end of this journey I've arrived at Sur by bus from Muscat. A fishermen village . It seemed to be really at the border of the world where the silence is broken just by the wind and the sea . I' ve observed these 2 women at the sunset for a while trying to imagine their lives, thoughts, hopes! ! 🙄WHATs the nation that fascinates you?🙄🙄🙄🙄 ! What's the country that fascina OMAN 2013. Dopo la Giordania il mio viaggio mi ha portato a questo Sultanato. L'Oman è affascinante - fino agli anni '70 la capitale Muscat chiudeva ancora le porte del medioevo e il regno aveva solo 10 km di strade. -Le costruzioni non possono superare i 4 piani - Il Sultano visita ogni anno i tribali. E alla fine di questo viaggio sono arrivato a Sur in autobus da Muscat. Un villaggio di pescatori. Sembrava davvero di essere al confine del mondo dove il silenzio è rotto solo dal vento e dal mare. Ho osservato queste 2 donne al tramonto per un po 'cercando di immaginare le loro vite, pensieri, speranze! ! New pictures for my series of pictures of castles, forts and towers located in Oman. Oman is very well-known for its forts, castles and towers, notably some which have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These pictures show the nice Al Ayjah Fort, Oman, which is located in Al Ayjah close to Sur, north-east of Oman. This renovated fort has been built as part and parcel of the surrounding merchant houses of this small city. These pictures were taken end of August 2017 with my Nikon Coolpix AW130 and show the outside of the fort. Arabian Dhows at low tide at Sur, Oman. The first time we visited Sur was not long after a cyclone had caused considerable damage to this coastal town in 2007. I spent the afternoon sketching the dhows in the heat of the sun. I was able to gather lots of reference to inspire me for a series of paintings of dhows, including one on gold leaf.
