Tanhaji played an instrumental role in taking back the strategic hill fortress of Kondhana from the Mughal empire. The film’s trailer had raised some eyebrows after Devgn, as Tanhaji, is seen propagating the power of saffron. Ajay, however, said the film does not portray any religion in negative.

In the late 17th century, the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb declares strategic hill fortress Kondhana as the Mughal base of Southern India from which he planned to expand Mughal empire into South India. However, The Maratha Emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj orders his General Tanaji Malusare to capture Kondhana at any cost to protect Southern India from Mughal invasion, while the Mughal emperor sends his trusted commander Uday Bhan to defend the fortress, thus leading to a battle between the two armies for control of the fortress. The Battle is known as the Battle of Sinhagad which decided the fate of Southern India.

According to film analysts, Tanhaji is expected to rake in Rs 10 crore on the first day of its release as the film boasts of a star cast including Ajay Devgn, Kajol, Saif Ali Khan and Sharad Kelkar.  The film will be released on more than 3500 screens.

The director, however, said the term of guerrilla warfare has come to be known as surgical strikes today and therefore it is easy to explain the movie’s story to the youth through the phrase.

With the upcoming release of Panipat, by Ashitosh Gowarikar, on 6th December 2019, it is important to see this wave of Period Films that has been going through Bollywood. The world of indian cinema has taken by storm with an obsession of historical films. With Taanaji and Shamshera in the pipeline, to be released in 2020, Filmi Files did it’s own research on this growing trend.

Jodha Akbar

Released in 2008, this Ashutosh Gowarikar classic of our times was a superhit and a rather controversial film. Starring Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan, the movie was released amidst a whirlpool of drama and controversy. After its release, the movie grossed 40cr and we think it is safe to say that it set a trend.

Veer

This Salman Khan starrer that introduced Zarine Khan to the world was another movie set in the past battles of our history, and began the upward graph of period films. It was released in 2010 and grossed 40cr as well.

From 2010 onwards, started a decade of back to back such films, and has reached 2020.

Bajirao Mastani

Another period film, this Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh starrer was made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and released in 2015. It hit the box office hard and grossed 356 cr by the end of its time on the big screens.

Mohenjo Daro

This Hrithik Roshan starrer, was released in 2016 and was made by Ashutosh Gowarikar and grossed 108cr in the box office. As the name suggests, the movie was made on the rise and fall of the civilisation of Mohenjo Daro.

Padmaavat

Perhaps the queen of recent cinema controversy, Padmaavat was released in 2018 and the name of the movie had to be changed in order to assuage the offended crowds. Made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie grossed 585Cr in box office. The movie starred Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

Manikarnika

Released in 2019, this Kangana Ranaut film was the one made on the woman-hero of our freedom struggle- Rani Laxmi Bai. The movie was produced by Zee studios and directed by Ranaut herself. It grossed 152Cr and became quite a hit.

This is a trend that is not going anytime soon, we think. Bollywood has created a nest in history and cosily rests there. While we appreciate the dose of history we have been getting on big screens, but we feel the scripts have turned repetitive, and the trend has come to a passe.

Ajay Devgn’s highly anticipated Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior trailer is as powerful and impactful as was expected from the actor. Ajay plays Maratha general Tanaji Malusare in the 100th film of his career and his first biographical drama . While Ajay shines in the trailer, Saif Ali Khan as Uday Bhan, a Rajput working for Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, makes his presence felt as the antagonist. Kajol, too, makes a brief but memorable appearance, leaving her fans asking for more. Packed with some impressive visuals, folk background music and action scenes, the trailer seems to have a lot to offer. The film picks up a chapter from the great fight for Kondhana when Taanaji took on Uday Bhan in order to erect the saffron flag, symbolic of Marathas. The enmity between the two sides is evident as Saif tells Ajay, “Teri mitti jazbat se judi hai aur meri akal pani se (You are emotionally connected to your soul whereas my wisdom has no emotions.)”. Tanhaji is set in the 17th century and revolves around the life of Tanaji, one of the most fearless but unsung warrior in Indian history and the military leader in the army of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Ajay had recently shared character posters of the lead cast. He had unveiled Kajol’s look on Instagram with the caption, “Savitribai Malusare - Tanhaji ke saahas ka sahara... aur unke bal ki shakti.” She is seen in a traditional Marathi avatar in a dull red sari, a bindi adorning her forehead and wearing a simple mangalsutra and a Marathi-style nose ring. The poster also features a man on his knees holding the Maratha flag erect.   Since last month, Ajay has shared individual posters of Saif as Uday Bhan, Sharad Kelkar as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Luke Kenny as Aurangzeb and Padmavati Rao as Jijabai.         It is being produced by Ajay with Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. Laal Kaptaan Trailer 2: Chase Is On For Saif Ali Khan As Sonakshi Sinha And Deepak Dobriyal Join Him On The Journey

Just after first trailer of Saif Ali Khan starrer Laal Kaptaan titled ‘The Hunt’, second trailer of the movie has dropped also. This time, the trailer has been titled as ‘The Chase’. The movie can be described as revenge drama where a Naga Sadhu aka Saif Ali Khan goes on a journey of retribution.

Look of Saif is really unique here. He has been sported with kohled eyes, untidy beard in addition to matted long hair. From mere sight, he looks like a dangerous man. On the occasion, Saif is on a mission given by Sonakshi Sinha. Beautiful Sonakshi can be seen with a veil here which certainly adds to the mystery level. It seems that she has telling Saif to get rid of a fort tyrant as he is trying to leave with the treasure.

In the clip, Deepak Dobriyal can be spotted also. Here, he is quite hard to recognize as tracker who usually find a person through sniffing. Generally, he is helped by his two ferocious hounds. The character is presented as Saif’s foil and he provides comic relief at the same time.

Manav Vij, Simone Singh and Zoya Hussain are part of the movie. NH10 fame director Navdeep Singh has helmed the movie which has been written by Deepak Venkatesha.

In coming days, Saif Alia Khan is expected to be seen in Jawaani Jaaneman, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior and Bhoot Polic also.

Release of the movie will be seen in theatres on 18th October. Anand l. Rai’s Colour Yellow Production has produced the movie in collaboration with Eros International.

Ajay Devgn teases De De Pyar De costar Tabu with a throwback photo

Ajay Devgn was recently seen in a De De Pyar De with Tabu alongside Rakul Preet Sing. The two have worked in many films together over the years, Ajay recently shared a throwback picture making fun of the actress.

Ajay shared the picture on Instagram and captioned it as, “Still haven’t figured if the reason to fall asleep was the puzzle or Tabu [sic]” The picture is from the sets of Vijaypath in1994. Ajay Devgn in casual clothes amid shoots can be seen dozing off while Tabu seems to have trouble passing time.

Tabu in the picture can be seen wearing a hot pink bridal lehenga sitting on a chair clumsy, while Ajay can he was seen holding a paper and pen but falling asleep with his mouth open. Ajay’s Golmaal co-star Kunal Kemmu also comment on the picture, “Hahahahahaha”. Tabu was also part of Golmaal Universe, alongside Parineeti Chopra in the last release Golmaal Again which was a horror comedy.

Tabu recently made a comeback to the big screen with a villainous role in AndhaDhun and got praised a lot by the audience. Ajay Devgn will be seen next in Taanaji: The Unsung Hero, and Bhuj: The Pride of India.

Horror Comedy Bhoot Police Starring Saif Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh And Ali Fazal Will Go On Floors In August

Success of Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree has created a new genre in Bollywood which is horror comedy. Stree has managed to entertain the audience and satisfied the critic at the same time. Now, more Bollywood directors are planning movies on horror comedy genre.

Now, Fox Star Hindi has announced about a new movie. It has been said that they will bring together Saif Ali Khan, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh together for a horror comedy. Title of the movie has been decided also which is “Bhoot Police”. There is another interesting fact about the movie which is it will be shot in 3D. In the past also, Saif has been seen in a zombie movie called Go Goa Gone. So, it will be interesting to watch Saif again in this movie. Director of Bhoot Police is Pavan Kripalani. Shooting of the movie is expected to begin from the month of August, 2019.

Right now, Saif Ali Khan is busy with the shooting of Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior. In this movie, Saif will be seen in a negative shade. It apparently took a lot from Ajay who personally met and convinced him to take up the role, which according to him is very unique and challenging and is a vital role.
