welcome back to the madness, friends. as i do every time we get an appearance from bianca, i'm going to break down the new lore -- which is a lot more than usual, this week. not only did we get our first spoken lines from our favorite producer, we got a lot of information about her dad and her home life with host!vic. so... let's get into it!
i'm actually going to start out with an inventory of all our new information about bianca's father, aka the host's husband:
his full name is "david michaelis". this means i have something to write on the dolls i'm burning in effigy! yay.
he travels a lot for business -- he was a small business owner, but he "sold to a bigger business". this seems to confirm my speculation about the host's husband being wealthy.
he is one of ta'tania's regular suitors/clients (and thus cheating on the host in spectacular fashion), and has a thing for ketchup/squished tomatoes; he has talked about the host to ta'tania as well as requesting ta'tania dress in a suit like theirs during their sessions. i am violently holding myself back from kink-shaming this man.
the host has not seen him in six months. six months.
about bianca, we've learned:
she "hang[s] out all the time" with ta'tania. (learning this distresses the host to the point that their professionalism slips substantially; even hearing about their husband's cheating didn't prompt such a strong reaction, interestingly.)
the host has asked bianca to spend time with them, including a trip to new york city together. she has repeatedly declined -- despite planning her own trips. she and the host are sufficiently divorced from each others' schedules that the host had no knowledge of her trips to nyc (despite the fact that they live in the same house. alone with just each other. again, for six months).
bianca has explicitly asked the host to only use her full name rather than the familiar nickname "b".
we now have a clearer sense of the dynamic between bianca and the host: the host seems desperate for a closer relationship (perhaps in a bid to resolve the curse they received in season 1?), but bianca repeatedly and firmly shuts them down with thinly veiled irritation.
below the cut, i'll outline some of the questions raised by this episode in the interest of getting people's theory-brains going. do i have any answers...? nope.
so -- there's a lot going on here. let's take a look.
what is the nature of bianca and ta'tania's relationship? is bianca a suitor of hers? are they friends? if they met through david, is his relationship with ta'tania tight enough that he wanted her to "meet the family", or did he instead refer his favorite dominatrix to his daughter?? is it all a coincidence and this nyc-based fairy just happens to be particularly popular with this la-based family?
what specific kind of business is david in? when vic gets vague, i get suspicious that they're hinting at written-down lore.
six months. that's so long. this isn't a question i just feel like it bears repeating.
why does bianca dislike and reject the host so strongly? is it just a matter of them being an abusive boss with terrible politics and a personality that is, and i say this affectionately, bad? well... maybe. maybe. but with vic michaelis and talia tabin, i don't know if anything can be that simple.
if the host's investment in bianca liking them is motivated by trying to fix their relationship and thus the curse, how is the curse concretely manifesting? the episode where they receive it hints at a "crumbling life" and a monstrous transformation, and we certainly are seeing the former -- but it also seems like the host's life has been in a state of complete disaster and ruin from childhood to now, so i'm not sure if the current state of affairs would feel too new to them.
that's all i have for this post! if you have anything to add in terms of analysis, theories, or details i missed, please feel free to add on.

Okay so we know that Charlotte and Greg Excitement was the first episode of Season 2 they filmed. It started out strong with themes of divorce/cheating and Host!Vic indicating that they were unhappy in their marriage to David Michaelis, setting the stage for Host!Vic’s storyline. These themes of course come up in other episodes of Season 2 that were filmed later/ release earlier. From Last Looks we know that Ta’Tania Jackson was also shot early on setting the stage for Host!Vic’s personal story line, specifically her relationship with Bianca and David. And that The Fourth Witch expands on Host!Vic lore and gives us producer Bianca. You can also tell that Bianca was important enough to this season that they brought Talia Tabin in to film the cut aways, instead of letting them remain just references by Host!Vic. Also the episode with another married couple Barbra and Bill was filmed last. It also has elements of infidelity and unhappiness in a marriage which makes it interesting to me that there are no Bianca references in this episode.
It makes me wonder what the last episode will bring and if it’s going to a have a big plot arch for Host!Vic like Augbert. I have a feeling that this season may result in Host!Vic divorcing their husband and if I put on my tinfoil hat on hopefully having a big confrontation with Bianca. We know Talia and Vic are on an improv team together/ work with the other often/ are very comfortable with each other, so I’m hoping for something here 🤞🏻

The largest conference room at Addgene is named Sonic Hedgehog but this is not a direct reference to the video game character but rather to an extremely important gene in animal development.
To understand where sonic hedgehog got its name, we need to go back to 1980, when Christine Nusslein-Volhard and Eric Wiechaus first identified the hedgehog gene in Drosophila.
...
The mammalian hedgehog protein, sonic hedgehog (SHH) was named by a postdoc in Cliff Tabin’s lab who took inspiration from a comic book his daughter was reading. SHH is involved in the hedgehog signalling pathway, which is a key regulator of all bilateral animal development. SHH plays a key role in proper limb and digit formation as well as neural development. Specifically, SHH is a morphogen, a chemical signal that diffuses down a concentration gradient exerting a different effect on the developing embryo depending on its concentration. Genetic mutations in SHH cause severe health conditions such as nonsyndromic holoprosencephaly where the brain fails to divide properly into the right and left hemisphere.

I appologies for the long ask 😬
We talked a lot about the lines not being right (which, totally fair, this is a mess) but can we talk about Stacey's position on the PP? What the heck is the strategy here? Blocking the goalie's view? Ok, every other player can do that. Stacey leads Montreal's powerplays goal. Why putting her in this vulnerable position, where it's obvious she won't score there. And putting Poulin not on her good side too?
Isabelle Leclair, the analyst at RDS (Québec's broadcasting) and also coach of The Carabins of the University of Montreal the Montreal (AKA, a very respected woman in hockey, in Quebec) said that she didn't really understand why the Montreal team took their two best shooters (Pou and Stace) and put them in a position on the ice, during the PP, that don’t allow good shooting opportunities. She’s explained that Poulin's goal was possible only because she moved herself to her good side precisely. Basically, they're wasting opportunities because they're not using the right players in the right positions.
Stacey is put netfront because she is tall and can block the goalie's sightline. campbell is 5'10". of course, this means she cannot shoot the puck and stand netfront at the same time. the netfront/ goal line person should also be there to collect the rebound.
montreal at times is on the shorter side so not every player can play that role. you see tabin or dubois do it, but hopefully not boulier or barnes. this is really only helpful when lifting the puck, ie the one timer. Stacey's one timer doesn't work if the goalie can see the puck coming all the way and it doesn't get redirected, so you have to have someone there. netfront players can also do tip ins, which confuse the goalie by changing the direction of the puck mid air [they tried to do this today and were unsuccessful. several times]
however, if you are keeping the puck on the ice [which we tend to not do on powerplays] someone netfront can redirect it and shove it in [i believe kcs did this to us one game. ]
as for poulin being on her off hand, allegedly she's ambidextrous [really she just trains her right hand to be very good, though not as natural as her left] . I think the comment you are referring to is about her being below the goal line instead of in the slot [where she ended the game]. You put a player below the goal line I think to collect rebounds and even distribute the puck or walk it into the net [KO was very successful with this at the end of last year.] I don't know why poulin was in that position, because she should be in the slot, but I think gardiner was on the ice at the same time, and she also shoots left.
I do think the powerplay should be converting more than it has, but these past few games have looked really good [except for that one pp where we let the puck out like 10 times today -_-]
our powerplay is supposed to be fluid, with people changing positions and passing the puck to confuse the opponent. However, you have to balance that with accuracy and making sure your passes don't get intercepted.

Baguio to enforce strict quarantine, curfew
#PHnews: Baguio to enforce strict quarantine, curfew
BAGUIO CITY – The city government here will enforce a more stringent community quarantine to align with the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) that President Rodrigo Duterte enforced starting Monday night.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong declared a citywide community quarantine from March 13 until April 15 after signing Executive Order 065 due to the spike of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.
In his latest directive, Magalong’s earlier curfew of 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. has been “superseded by the Luzon curfew which is now 24 hours.”
On Tuesday, Magalong signed EO 67, amending the earlier signed order.
The order will see the Baguio City Police Office “be more strict and checking the purpose of people out and about in our streets starting today, March 18, 2020.”
A second curfew is, however, given from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. which will be for workers who provide essential needs like convenience stores, groceries, hospitals, pharmacies, and drug stores, medical clinics, food preparation, and deliveries.
In signing the latest ECQ, Magalong directed that the BCPO "to intensify patrols to ensure that people are inside their homes except for those performing essential tasks as provided for in the ECQ provisions.”
The order also instructs that government offices should have a skeletal force and people to observe social distancing. It also indefinitely suspends public transport.
He, however, said a single jeepney in one barangay will be on standby to bring people to and from the barangay to buy basic necessities.
“We will allow only one member of the family to go out to go buy items from the market or medicines,” he said during the Ugnayan late afternoon on Tuesday, right after the meeting with the village chieftains.
Jeeps must have 50 percent of its total loading capacity, have a regular stand by place at the area for bringing people to market, and pick up point at the market and time, said Magalong.
"So everything will be coordinated for smooth operation and all should be serviced,” he added.
A special taxi service will be put on an on-call basis for emergency use like bringing people to hospitals for emergency health situations or for medical procedures including regular checkups for pregnant women, elderlies or those still under medical supervision.
Taxis are asked to get a permit from the city so that they can be included in the pool of transport service that can be contacted to provide “emergency service” to the residents who do not have private vehicles.
The market will only be open from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. to give way to the one-hour cleaning time. Buyers and sellers are mandated to use any kind of alternative to mask.
The local finance committee also said the city’s quick response fund (QRF) of PHP29 million could be now utilized to help purchase basic needs like alcohol, face masks and sanitizing agents.
During the special session of the city council, city budget officer Leticia Clemente told councilors that even the General Services Office (GSO) will be traveling to Manila to purchase the materials since most are out of stock in local pharmacies and groceries.
City accountant Antonio Tabin said the barangays will also have their access to their own QRF which they have saved in their own bank.
The Disaster Risk and Rescue Management team has also a PHP101-million fund to be used.
Clemente said all the vehicles issued to all the city’s departments will be pooled and for the disposal of the said emergency group for their use including bringing home city workers deployed as front liners in battling Covid 19.
"Only employees from essential offices like those from the health services office, the mayor’s office, the GSO will be reporting for work, while others could start working at home,” Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan said.
Magalong has also extended the suspension of classes for students until April 15 and told “students to stay home. It was the reason for the suspension of classes for you to stay home.”
The EO provides that private establishments shall be closed with only the essential establishments are allowed minimum operation hours. (PNA)

'Kill me now'! Meet the WaPo writer who's proudly raising her cats 'gender-neutral'
I raised my shark gender neutral and now he's just jumping everywhere. https://t.co/z9W4SBRpog

Welcome to 2016:
A serious discussion about gender neutrality and how to label your cats. https://t.co/NlHAWPzjjb
— Colby Itkowitz (@ColbyItkowitz) April 5, 2016
This is a very serious discussion. One might even say it’s thuper-therial.
What on earth. https://t.co/83SN8TC87G
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) April 5, 2016
Wait, wait! Just hear her out! The Post’sLauren R. Taylorwrites:
The cats lives wouldnt change, I reasoned, and it would help me learn to use plural pronouns for my friends, neighbors and colleagues who individually go by they, their and them. Even though using they, them and their as singular pronouns grates on many people because its grammatically incorrect, it seems to be the most popular solution to the question of how to identify people without requiring them to conform to the gender binary of female and male. It also just feels right to refer to people as they wish to be referred to.
Around the house, with just me, Essence and Trouble named for Rare Essence and Trouble Funk, for the DC music lovers reading this things were pretty easy. Id make a mistake (called misgendering), saying something like Wheres your brother? (Yes, I talk to my cats.) Usually, Id remember to fix it (Wheres your sibling? or Wheres your pal?). Just as Id hoped, I began finding it easier to remember to use gender-neutral language for the humans in my life.
And I began to get an infinitesimal taste of what transgender and gender-nonconforming people face. Im not talking about the outright bigotry and hatred something I cant know without being in their shoes but the complete cluelessness. Friends would come over, Id introduce the cats and their pronouns, and some would ask, But what ARE they? Some would randomly use he and she. Some would stumble, unable to form a sentence when talking about one of the cats.
Believe it or not, there’s more. But we’ll let you discover the remaining magic for yourself.
Just no. https://t.co/VvmzjFv4JU

Hard work is the best source of income for us to celebrate the 12th Bunga Dag Tabinal Festival, he said.
Vice Mayor Jimmy Regalado shared, “This celebration is our way of gratitude to our Lord for providing continuous blessings to Aloran. We want to show everyone that despite our continuous progress, we do not forget our roots.”
The event was attended by members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, heads of city government and employees, barangay officials with staff, representatives from the education sector, business sector, and various non-government and civic organizations.
During the opening of the 12th Flower Dag Tabinal, Mayor Roa also proclaimed watermelon as Aloran's "One Town One Product’’ giving due credit to the sweet fruit that symbolizes the hard work of Aloranon farmers.
