Here’s a sneak preview of my list of board games for three-year-olds. Check out the link in my bio if you want to see all the games. I definitely have more games listed than we will ever be able to play before my son’s fourth birthday so some will have to carry over to my next list, I guess 🤷‍♀️. ** My wish list started out with the popular choices and suggestions from all of you but quickly grew to include the games I picked up second hand. The nice thing about three-year-olds is they don’t always know the difference between the popular choice and the $1 choice. The nice thing about spending $1-5 on a game is you don’t have to feel bad about giving it away if you don’t like it. You can buy games on a budget to get an idea of the types of games your kid likes before spending too much money on the popular ones! ** I did the math (in Excel because I’m an accountant) and I have spent $233 on games and puzzles in the last month or so. It seems like a lot but those games new would have cost $649 plus tax so I feel pretty good about it. I just love this (not my image). ** We have been watching a lot of Dora the Explorer recently and this morning my toddler led me on a full-fledged adventure based on the most recent episode we watched. ** Dora is a great way to introduce your kids to maps and adventures, which are both integral parts of any tabletop RPG. ** My three-year-old was so excited to lead the way on the adventure in which we had to find a boat and row over a river, hop like frogs on stepping stones across the mud, and find our ball at the volcano (but watch out, that volcano is about to explode!). ** My toddler calls the show “Dora’s ventures” (Dora’s Adventures). New game storage in the front room that we set up on Monday! Before that, all my son’s games were stored in the basement with ours. I find that my toddler is much more likely to choose a game or puzzle over TV or some other toy if they are visible and at his eye level. He was so excited to come home to find all his games in one place! Donation details and board game update: ** For those of you that missed my video update yesterday, see the second photo of this series for a synopsis! I have never been motivated to go to this huge second hand sale before. I’d typically rather stay out of big stores/sales even in years past but I saw a sneak peak video of the game section and couldn’t stay away. Armed with a face shield, a mask, and a pocketful of hand sanitizer, I made my way in and came out with 14 new-to-us games and puzzles for a total of $76.86! Don’t mind my messy hair in the first photo, it’s hot under all that protective gear!
