I took a nap earlier today, since I barely slept last night out of worry and loneliness. The house is too quiet, and I find myself afraid of the shadows when I am alone.

I fell asleep as soon as my head hit pillow, but my mind tormented me with dreams of death and gore. I woke up so afraid.

I don't feel well. I wish this would stop.

Isn't it just lovely to wake up scared and confused because you just had a night terror in which you're dearly departed father (may he rest in peace) screams at you for ruining his life and chases you down while handling the very firearm that killed him?

It's a part of my daily routine at this point. It would be more bizarre if I didn't see my dear old father with a rifle before my morning tea.

No greetings, no gifts. Valentin showed up in the office unannounced - not that he ever really needed to announce his presence here. He carried a stack of papers, all clumsily stuffed in his hands in seemingly either a rush or an overly emotional moment.

The moment his footsteps echoed down the hallway, from that weight and rhythmic pace, the duke knew it was Valentin's. No matter how engrossed Heinrich may be in his work, that man's allure will never fail to rip him from such tasks...

"Hmm?" He hummed curiously, a smile already forming on his face...until he looked up at Valentin and took in his demeanour.

Heinrich swiftly placed his quill back into the inkwell while his smile faltered slightly— his expression twisting into that of a small frown as his dark eyes studied the Russian's demeanour...as much as a man with this damning eye condition could from such a distance, that is.

The duke sat up straight. "...You're upset, Valentin." He asserted with a gentle voice— a rare feat— and clasped his hands together, putting them under his chin and leaning forward slightly. The silence lingered in the air for a moment: "We shall go, yes, but can you...come here first, please?"

His eyes flickered between the man's cool ones and the papers in his hand as he awaited a response...

Though unlikely to be noticed from under his facial hair, Heinrich's frown deepened; he knew what Valentin wanted to do...

A young boy just came up to me, stared for what felt like 10 minutes

Said "oh it's you, morning lady Deo! My mother said that you are a whore!". Smiling wide he left to play tag with the other children.

He's quite clever, if I may say. He was very straightforward and to the point, exactly what I love to see in our youth (even though it did hurt a little bit)
