Your advice to me in the form of your music is always so honest, raw and personal. I felt the least I could do was share the most honest and personal photo I have ever had taken of me. I want you to know the truth laid bare.

You’ve taught me that “we are not defined by our mistakes” and that “walking through a bunch of rainstorms is the best way to get clean”.

You’ve taught me to get off my knees, to stand up and fight for what I have worked for all these years.

And most recently, you’ve taught me to stay true to myself, even when all of my heroes die all alone, and all of my enemies started out friends. You’ve taught me that the “you” in “help me hold onto you” is truly me.

Almost no one has imparted upon me the lessons that you have. For all of your wisdom, courage, advice and strength that you lent me without even knowing it, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have earned my unconditional love and support a hundred times over.

Since it’s been two years since that asshole former DJ thought he could bring a lawsuit against you after he assaulted you, I want to stand with you now as I did then, and say that you’re such a Goddess, a force to be reckoned with and the most perfect example for a young girl/young woman to follow. I wish men weren’t so disgusting sometimes, but I’m so proud of you for having the strength of character to show that asshole that you won’t be silenced, ever. No one, no man, woman or corporation can silence you, because you’re stronger and braver than your silencers will ever be.
