Wrt that last post I think these parts of How to Read Literature Like A Professor by Thomas C. Foster get the point across better than I can say it:

sex scenes are important actually. I know that now the knee jerk reaction is Eww Sex Is Icky but I think if you go into every sex scene with that mindset you’re entirely missing the point the author is attempting to make. That’s not to say that sex scenes included simply to be arousing don’t exist but 1) you can still analyze it and gain worthwhile information regardless of authorial intent 2) if it’s that gross to you, you can engage in ye olden tradition of closing your eyes or skipping the scene It Is Not That Difficult.
