interesting, so the sounds that the little electric bolts make shooting off of the iterators' halos are called mycelia sparks! implies that they're connected to the larger mycelial system in the can, so maybe the bolts are the visual/auditory representation of signals from the puppet being broadcasted to the wider structure. also makes sense with how mycelia works in real life, reacting to electric signals :)
