India's Tech Manufacturing Landscape Poised for Transformation with TDP's Influence
In 2024, N Chandrababu Naidu and his Telugu Desam Party (TDP) might play a pivotal role in reshaping India's tech manufacturing landscape, particularly in Andhra Pradesh.
Tumblr media
Renowned for transforming Hyderabad into a technology hub, Naidu's focus on tech innovation is evident even in TDP’s welfare-oriented manifesto, which highlights the promotion of artificial intelligence in the largely agrarian state. With the TDP's support being crucial for the BJP-led NDA to form the next central government, Naidu’s party is positioning itself to influence the allocation of centrally subsidized manufacturing projects, potentially placing Andhra Pradesh on the map as a major tech manufacturing destination.
Naidu often reminisces about his significant meeting with Microsoft founder Bill Gates in the 1990s, which led to the establishment of a Microsoft development center in Hyderabad. This pivotal moment catalyzed Hyderabad's emergence as a key IT hub, now home to giants like Google, IBM, Amazon, and Hewlett-Packard. During his tenure as Chief Minister, Naidu continued his tech-forward initiatives, such as signing an MoU with the Adani Group in 2019 to build data center parks in Visakhapatnam.
Concerns have been raised about new projects, particularly in the electronics sector, favoring Gujarat during the previous BJP-majority government. However, with a TDP MP potentially at the helm of the IT Ministry, Andhra Pradesh could attract significant investments in semiconductor assembly, laptop, and mobile manufacturing facilities. This shift could decentralize tech manufacturing from Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh, further diversifying India's tech production map.
Already, Apple supplier Foxlink has a base in Andhra Pradesh, hinting at the state's potential to attract more tech suppliers. With Hyderabad no longer serving as the joint capital of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, TDP aims to develop Amravati as the new capital, leveraging its influence in the new government to secure manufacturing projects along the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor. This strategic move could bolster TDP's standing against local rival YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
Naidu's role as a potential kingmaker could also address the financial challenges hindering Amravati's development, a project close to his heart. Despite setbacks, including the withdrawal of funding from the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Naidu remains committed to making Amravati a reality, opposing YSRCP's preference for Visakhapatnam as the administrative capital.
TDP’s manifesto provides a glimpse into its vision for the future, promising the creation of special employment zones and incentives for job-generating enterprises. It also aims to restore Andhra Pradesh’s brand, attract foreign investments, and leverage advanced technologies like AI and machine learning to boost industrial growth. Plans to develop Rayalaseema as an automotive hub and enhance the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor reflect Naidu’s comprehensive strategy for state development.
In conclusion, N Chandrababu Naidu and TDP’s potential influence in the central government could significantly alter India's tech manufacturing landscape, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a key player in the sector. Their strategic vision promises a blend of technological innovation, industrial growth, and employment generation, heralding a new era for the state and the country.

Prashant Kishor and Yogendra Yadav’s Contrasting Predictions for Lok Sabha Elections 2024
Renowned political analysts Prashant Kishor and Yogendra Yadav have recently offered their predictions for the outcome of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in 2024. While both analysts have provided their insights, their forecasts diverge on crucial points, adding intrigue to the electoral landscape. Here’s an in-depth look at their predictions and the implications for the political scenario:
1. Prashant Kishor’s Projections:
Kishor foresees a scenario where the BJP replicates its performance from the 2019 Lok Sabha elections but falls short of crossing the 370-seat mark.
He suggests that while the BJP may not exceed 400 seats, it is unlikely to drop below the 270-seat threshold necessary to form a government independently.
Kishor’s analysis underscores the significance of alliances and coalition politics in securing a majority in the Lok Sabha.
2. Yogendra Yadav’s Forecasts:
In contrast, Yadav presents a more conservative outlook for the BJP, predicting that the party will struggle to surpass the 300-seat mark.
He emphasizes the challenges faced by the BJP in achieving its ambitious ‘400 paar’ claim, suggesting that the party’s seat tally may fall short of expectations.
Yadav’s projections highlight the potential for shifts in the political landscape, particularly in key states, which could influence the final outcome of the elections.
3. Alignment with Alliance Dynamics:
Both analysts acknowledge the importance of alliances in shaping the electoral arithmetic.
Kishor’s assessment recognizes the role of NDA allies in bolstering the BJP’s prospects, albeit within a defined seat range.
Yadav’s analysis raises the possibility of the INDIA bloc, led by the opposition, emerging as a formidable challenger to the NDA, contingent on developments in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
4. Regional Insights and Seat Projections:
Yadav provides a detailed breakdown of seat projections across various regions, offering insights into potential gains and losses for the BJP.
His projections suggest nuanced dynamics in states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha, with implications for the BJP’s overall performance.
Additionally, Yadav anticipates significant shifts in heartland states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and others, which could shape the final outcome of the elections.
5. Impact of Regional Factors:
Yadav’s analysis underscores the influence of local dynamics, including state-specific issues and political narratives, on electoral outcomes.
He highlights the potential for surprises in states like Karnataka, West Bengal, Northeastern states, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir, which may defy conventional expectations.
6. Implications for the NDA and Opposition:
Kishor and Yadav’s divergent forecasts offer contrasting narratives for the BJP-led NDA and the opposition alliances.
While Kishor’s projections suggest continuity in the BJP’s dominance, albeit within defined parameters, Yadav’s analysis hints at potential vulnerabilities and opportunities for the opposition to capitalize on.
In conclusion, Prashant Kishor and Yogendra Yadav’s predictions provide valuable insights into the evolving dynamics of Indian politics, highlighting the complexities and uncertainties inherent in electoral forecasting. As the elections unfold, the accuracy of these projections will be closely scrutinized, shaping the narrative of India’s democratic journey.

After Probe Agency's Big Claim Against BRS Leader K Kavitha, AAP's Retort
Probe agencies CBI and ED have both claimed to made headway into their Delhi liquor policy case investigation. The Central Bureau of Investigation has told the court that they could arrest some "high-profile persons" as they probe alleged money laundering in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22, which allegedly benefited certain liquor dealers
Tumblr media
The Enforcement Directorate also put forth a theory alleging that BRS leader K Kavitha conspired with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders in the case. The agency alleges that Kavitha paid ₹ 100 crore to Aam Aadmi Party leaders.
Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, was arrested by the agency last week from her Hyderabad home and she is in the ED custody till March 23.
"Probe found that Ms K Kavitha along with others conspired with the top leaders of AAP including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia for getting favours in the Delhi excise policy-formulation and implementation," the ED said in a statement.
"In exchange of these favours, she was involved in paying ₹ 100 crore to the leaders of AAP," the agency said.
The agency claimed that by the acts of "corruption and conspiracy" in the formulation and implementation of Delhi excise policy 2021-22, a continuous stream of illegal funds in the form of kickbacks from the wholesalers was generated for the AAP, it said.
The Aam Aadmi Party though, has denied all these charges and alleged that the probe is being used to malign Mr Kejriwal's image ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
"On earlier occasions too, ED has released such blatantly false and frivolous statements which show that instead of being a neutral investigative agency, it is working like a political wing of BJP," AAP said in a statement.
No immediate reaction was available from the BJP over the AAP's charge.
The AAP said the agency's charges are a "desperate attempt" to malign the image of its Mr Kejriwal and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia by "planting falsehoods and creating a media sensation" every day.
"ED's statement, which presents no new fact or evidence, speaks volumes of its frustration since they have not recovered a single rupee or piece of evidence in this case, despite carrying out over 500 raids and questioning thousands of witnesses," the AAP said.
The ED and the CBI had alleged that the Delhi government's excise policy to grant licences to liquor traders allowed cartelisation and favoured certain dealers who had allegedly paid bribes for it, a charge strongly refuted by the AAP.
The policy was scrapped by the Kejriwal government, days after Delhi L-G VK Saxena in July 2022 recommended a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in its formulation and implementation. Later, a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) linked to the excise policy case, was registered by the ED.

Assembly Elections 2023
Equations Of The Five States Few Days Before Elections?
Tumblr media
Political News In Hindi, There are not many days left in the voting process for the elections to be held in 5 states including Hindi heartland states. Voting will start from 7th of next month. About a month before the voting, the political parties release the list of candidates and the election campaign is at its peak, but this time all the five equations seem to be changing with each passing time. Out of the 5 electoral states, there is a direct fight between BJP and Congress in 3 big states, while in the remaining two states, there is a big fight between the regional parties of Congress. However, after the distribution of tickets among the political parties of all the five states, the fire of infighting has no longer remained internal but has reached the streets. After the party canceled the ticket, the game of defection has also started. In such a situation, let us know what the current equations of all the election states say and who is stronger than whom.
Dilemma Between Both The Parties In Rajasthan:
Rajasthan is the only state in India where the public changes its government every five years. At the beginning of this year, this trend seemed to be repeating again, but the infighting among BJP leaders, the anger of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and the pro-people policies of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot have put Congress ahead. According to local and other election surveys, at the beginning of this year, BJP was reported to be ahead of Congress, the biggest reason for which was the open verbal attacks between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Rajasthan Congress President Sachin Pilot.
Former Chief Minister Sachin Pilot had accused his own party's government of corruption several times in the last 5 years and had also gone on fast. Apart from the Gehlot-Pilot political tussle in the state, there were other big issues which had put the CM Gehlot-led government on the back foot, but where the opposition should have capitalized on these issues, they fought due to the ongoing opposition within their party. It seems to be coming out. The rift between Rajasthan BJP President Satish Punia, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia is well known. It is being said that while there is a tussle between two leaders in the Congress regarding the post of Chief Minister, on the other hand, there are 3-4 such leaders within Nahajapada who are now staking their claims in the Jan Sabha.
However, BJP was ignoring all these problems and giving competition to Congress, but the biggest increase in this problem happened when the news started coming that the BJP high command had appointed its senior most leader and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia in the state after the 2018 defeat. Have since been ignored. Keeping all these incidents in mind, many surveys were conducted regarding the election results and are being conducted even today. Presently, the situation is such that despite the anti-Congress wave, it seems to be giving a tough fight to the BJP, which is being attributed to the lack of leadership in Rajasthan BJP and other life-benefiting schemes like Ashok Gehlot's dearness allowance and Chiranjeevi Yojana.
Chances Of Biggest Upset In Telangana:
Chief Minister KCR's Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi) has formed the government in Telangana for two consecutive terms. Out of the total 119 assembly seats, KCR's TRS had established its dominance in Telangana by winning 63 in the 2014 elections and a spectacular 88 in the 2018 elections, but this time the elections can increase the problems for KCR and his entire party. After the landslide victory in 2018, allegations of corruption started being made against KCR, his daughter K Kavita and many MLAs, the effect of which was seen in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election s held in the year 2020.
While TRS had won 99 seats out of 150 Municipal Corporation seats in 2016, in 2020, under the leadership of MP Bandi Sanjay, it won 44 seats, defeating TRS and the party led by its associate Asaduddin Owaisi. On the other hand, TRS had slipped from 99 to 56. BJP started establishing its roots in Telangana after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. From 2014 to 2020, he had performed well in the Lok Sabha and Assembly, which seemed to indicate that the BJP is moving towards winning another southern state of South India after Karnataka in the 2023 Assembly, but in 2023, the BJP won in Karnataka. The shameful defeat changed everything for the BJP.
Due to opposition within the party against President Bandi Sanjay, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy was made the party president, after which the BJP started moving towards its decline, of which the Congress took full advantage and, beating all the figures, led by State President Revanth Reddy. I is currently appearing ahead in all equations. Revanth Reddy and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi have held public meetings and presented themselves as a better and different option before the people of Telangana. At present, Congress seems to be far ahead of the other two parties in almost every opinion poll. The fight which was BJP vs TRS till a few months ago has now become TRS vs Congress.
MP Politics - Shivraj Mama Reduced The Fear Of Big Defeat In Madhya Pradesh:
It is said that Madhya Pradesh is a laboratory for BJP. From 2003 to 2018, BJP had one-sided rule in the central state but the defeat with minimum margin in 2018 changed the politics of BJP. A year after the defeat, BJP formed the government in March 2020 by including 22 MLAs including Jyotiraditya Scindia in the party, but the anti-BJP wave among the public had not ended. Till 6 months before the election date, there was a strong and historic victory under the leadership of former Chief Minister Kamal Nath. There were several protests against the BJP government in the last one year, there were allegations of corruption in examinations and increasing crimes against backward classes in the state. Almost every section had expressed their anger against BJP, in which some solutions were found but many were left disappointed. Seeing such a huge anti-incumbency against BJP, according to political pundits and different media surveys, BJP was seen lagging behind Congress by a huge margin, but 4-time Chief Minister of the state Shivraj Singh Chouhan played his ace and shocked everyone. The name of that ace was Laadli Brahmin Yojana which worked to benefit 50% of the voting class i.e. women in the elections and to calm the opposition wave. Apart from this, within the last 6 months, CM Shivraj also held many big public meetings in which he also met women directly. However, while Shivraj is making moves to save his government and society, Congress on the other hand is seen sleeping. Just as BJP proved unsuccessful in Rajasthan as opposition, similarly Congress proved unsuccessful in Madhya Pradesh. The faster the elections were approaching, the faster the Congress was deviating from its vision. Congress failed to capitalize on the biggest protest in the state, due to which BJP got a chance to make a comeback. Now the current situation is that according to political pundits and recent surveys, Congress is ahead but the margin seems to be the same as the 2018 election results.
Bhupesh Kaka Flame Will Remain Intact In Chhattisgarh:
In Chhattisgarh, which is the second stronghold of BJP in Central India, Congress had defeated the 15-year-old Raman Singh government in the last elections. From 2003 to 2018, BJP had won 3 elections but due to anti-incumbency against Chief Minister Raman Singh and other cabinet ministers, BJP had to face historic defeat. Of the total 90 seats in the assembly, Congress had won 71 seats. Even after five years, BJP is not in a position to recover from this shameful defeat handed by Congress. In the last five years, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken Chhattisgarh to new heights of development with his policies, due to which his image has been established as a better Chief Minister, the answer to which BJP has not been able to find till now. Although CM Bhupesh Baghel has launched many flagship schemes, there is one such scheme which has made him the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh for the second consecutive time that is Godhan Nyay Yojana, under which the government will buy cow dung from farmers and cattle rearers at the rate of Rs 2 per kg. After purchase, women self-help group members will convert the cow dung into vermicompost and other products. This scheme had opened new employment opportunities for the unemployed poor living in both rural and urban areas. Not only this, the Bhupesh Baghel government was successful to a great extent in the Naxalite violence that had been going on in the state for years. After Chhattisgarh 2018, Congress had defeated BJP in the 2021 civic elections also. Now the current situation is that even the BJP high command is not seen making much effort in Chhattisgarh and the Congress is moving towards a one-sided victory in the various surveys that are coming out continuously.
Difficulties May Increase For Zoramthanga:
Mizoram has been a bone of contention between the Mizo National Front and the Congress ever since it was separated from Assam state in 1972 and attained full statehood in 1987. In the 8 assembly elections held since 1987, both the parties have formed their government in Mizoram 4 times each. Congress was considered very strong in Mizoram till the 2018 assembly elections, but due to anti-incumbency against party president and 4-time Chief Minister PU Lal Thanhawla and Mizo National Front coming together with BJP-led alliance, Congress got only 40 seats in the 2018 elections. Got 5 seats. Mizo National Front chief and current Chief Minister Zoramthanga took oath as the Chief Minister for the third time. However, Zoramthanga's situation seems to be worsening in 2023.
The violence that has been going on in Manipur for the last 5 months has increased the distance between Zoramthanga and NDA. Zoramthanga had expressed strong opposition to the government over the Manipur violence and called for the NDA to be out. On the other hand, now the anti-incumbency against Zoramthanga is at its peak, Congress has now tried to take advantage of it, but in this the fight will not be 2 but 3, which makes the Mizoram elections more exciting. In 2017, former IPS officer and Congress MP Lalduhoma had founded a new party, Zoram Nationalist Party, to end the duopoly of Congress and MNF in Mizoram Assembly.
Political News - In the 2018 elections, Lalduhoma's3 party had secured the second position, defeating Congress Com. According to political pundits and surveys, no party is seen getting absolute majority in this election, but there is a big increase in the vote share and seats of Congress and Zoram Nationalist Party, which can increase the problems of Zoramthanga. .
The election bugle has been sounded and public meetings are being held with full enthusiasm by all the parties. This time, the elections of these five states will not only decide the condition and direction of the general elections to be held in 2024 but can also rejuvenate the future politics and many big leaders, which we will know on December 3.

Mr Ramesh termed the CWC meeting as historic that will be "transformative" for Telangana politics. Launching a scathing attack on the BRS government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao, he said, "Understand one thing that the Modi government and the KCR government are two sides of the same coin. There is no difference between them, in Delhi there is Narendra Modi and in Hyderabad there is KCR.". 'One Nation One Election' campaign aims to postpone elections in five states:  Prashant Bhushan
BJP is fearing defeat in upcoming assembly elections in these five states. So, they are going to postpone the assembly polls till the general election in 2024 in the name of ONOE, he said.
Tumblr media
BHUBANESWAR: Renowned Supreme Court lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan alleged that the central government has been campaigning for the ‘one nation one election’ (ONOE) only to postpone upcoming assembly elections in five states.
The assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram are due later this year.
“ONOE cannot be implemented in a Parliamentary democracy like India because in our system a government can fall in midterm when it loses majority and a fresh government forms,” Bhushan told reporters here on Sunday. However, if the one nation one election will be implemented, in such a situation, Presidential rule will be imposed, which is against democracy, he claimed.
“That means we are switching from a democratic system to a presidential rule system. So it will be a total violation of parliamentary democracy. In my view, the government clearly knew about this and they also know that several amendments in the constitution are required to switch to the presidential rule system”, Bhushan said.
He said the present government does not have the majority in Rajya Sabha.
The government knew about all these facts. Still, they floated the balloon (one nation one election) with only one objective to postpone the state elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram, which are due later this year.
“The BJP government is fearing defeat in upcoming assembly elections in these five states. So, they are going to postpone the assembly polls till the general election in 2024 in the name of ONOE. And, President Rule will be imposed in the states,” he claimed.

"Indian Army had reached Lahore when Modi was not even 15-year-old”
By Gudur Narayana Reddy
This article is a reply to the BJP's narrative of '70 Saal Mein Kuch Nahi Huva (Nothing happened in the last 70 years)' often mentioned by Prime Minister Narender Modi in his speeches. Modi is trying to create a wrong impression that the Congress party did nothing for the country in the last seven decades. His rhetoric gives a feeling as if India was born in 2014 and he was made the first Prime Minister.
Modi was born on September 17, 1950. But India got its independence from British Rule on August 15, 1947 (three years and one month before Modi was born). Immediately after independence, India fought its first war with Pakistan after Pakistani tribesmen supported by the army invaded Jammu and Kashmir. By 1948, more than 500 princely States, including Hyderabad, had joined the Indian Union.
Even before Modi was born, India had prepared the world's best Constitution and started its implementation from January 26, 1950. When Modi was just six months old, India had hosted the first Asian Games in New Delhi from 4th to 11th March, 1951. In the same year, the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru introduced India’s first five-year plan, which defined the model of centralized economic planning and development. Before he turned one, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur or IIT-KGP), a public engineering institution, was established by the Government of India in 1951.
When Modi turned two years old, India held its first general elections in 1952.
Much before Modi celebrated his 4th birthday, the Government of India created the Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay (AEET) on 3 January 1954. It was later renamed as Bhabha Atomic Research Centre on 22 January 1967. Several Public Sector companies like Bharat Petroleum, Bharat Electronics Limited, Hindustan Antibiotics, Hindustan Shipyard were already functional. The same Navratna companies are in deplorable condition now and the Modi Government wanted them to privatise to benefit a few rich individuals.
When Modi was just 11 years old, Indian Army liberated Goa from the Portuguese and it was made a Union Territory. A year later, French-ruled Pondicherry (now Puducherry) became part of India as a Union Territory. In 1961, Indian Institutes of Management were established in Calcutta and Ahmedabad. By this year, the country had five IITs at Kharagpur, Bombay, Madras, Kanpur and Delhi. These IIMs, IITs and dozens of universities have been creating thousands of top class professionals since then. These are the products of subsidised education in India.
By the time Modi turned 13 years, India had built Bhakra Dam on Sutlej River in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. It is the third largest reservoir in India and was described as "New Temple of Resurgent India'. The construction of Rihand Dam (Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar) at Pipri in Sonbhadra District in Uttar Pradesh, was completed and it is India's largest artificial lake.
Modi was just 14-year-old when Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was formed on 1st October 1964. It was a consortium of Hindustan Aircraft Limited and IAF Aircraft Manufacturing Depot, Kanpur who were already manufacturing aircrafts and helicopters. It is the same HAL which was awarded the contract to manufacture Rafale. But Modi snatched the contract from HAL and gave it his friend Anil Ambani.
When Modi was about 15 years old, India’s had fought and won the second war with Pakistan in 1965. Our Indian Army had reached up to the outskirts of Lahore.
In 1967, when Modi was about 17 year old, the foundation of the Green Revolution was laid and farmers harvested the first crop of high-yielding wheat. From the era of 'Ship to Mouth', India became self sufficient in the production of wheat. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, released a special stamp entitle 'Wheat Revolution' in July 1968, to officially recorded the impressive results of Green Revolution.
When Modi was 19-year-old in 1969, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was founded. In the same year, the government nationalized 14 major Indian scheduled commercial banks to serve the needs of development. In the same year on October 28, Tarapur Atomic Power Station became operational generating initial power of 210 MW of electricity.
When Modi turned 21 in 1971, India was fighting its third war with Pakistan. East Pakistan broke away from Pakistan and Bangladesh was born as an independent nation. It was India's success in proving two-nation theory wrong. Unfortunately, Modi Government promoted hatred to encourage the beliefs that a nation could be formed on the basis of religion.
When he was only 24, India conducted peaceful nuclear test at Pokhran in 1974.
Much before Modi entered the electoral politics, India got its super computer and application of Information Technology was completed in all spheres of lives in India. When he was 41 years old, India had witnessed the era of liberalisation under the then Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and finance minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who later became the Prime Minister for two terms from 2004-2014.
Long before Modi became the Prime Minister, India had already taken the initiatives for Chandrayan, Mangalyan, GSLV, Mono Rail, Nuclear Sub-Marine, Agni Missile, Chetak, MIG, Arjun Tank, Sukhoi, Dhanush, etc.,
Therefore, India was a powerful nation with a robust economy. Modi and his bhakts would not have raised the question '70 Saal Mein Kuch Nahi Huva' if they would have read history.

Why Did Maharashtra Lose Out on Vedanta's Chip Project to Gujarat?
What Is the Vedanta-Foxconn Semiconductor Project?
Vedanta had formed a partnership with electronics giant Foxconn in a 60:40 joint venture to manufacture a semiconductor fabrication ecosystem in India.
Semiconductor chips, or microchips, are essential pieces of many digital consumer products – from cars and mobile phones to ATM cards.
The company had been holding discussions with the Maharashtra government over the last few months to set up the plant.

What Subsidies Was the Maharashtra Govt Offering?
As per documents of the state's industries department, the Maharashtra government had offered an “extremely lucrative incentive package” to the company, The Indian Express reported. Several other incentives were also announced, such as:
·         A power tariff subsidy of Rs 1/unit
·         Support to Vedanta to manufacture a 750 megawatt solar power plant
·         Subsides on land, power, water
·         Exemption from electricity duty
The deal would have led to major economic opportunities in the state, and was estimated to bring in around Rs 26,200 crore in State Goods and Services Tax (SGST), create close to two lakh direct and indirect job opportunities and $21 billion direct and $5-8 billion additional investment.
Several other states were also in competition for the investment-heavy project, like Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, and Gujarat.
Why Did Gujarat Get the Deal Instead?
However, the deal was finally gifted to the Gujarat government, as announced on Tuesday.
An MoU was signed between the Gujarat government and the company in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and chairman of the Vedanta Group, Anil Agarwal.
Agarwal later said in a tweet that the decision to choose Gujarat over Maharashtra was an independent one, based on "professional and independent advice."
"We decided Gujarat few months ago as they met our expectations," he said, adding that the Maharashtra government had made a "huge effort" at their meeting in July to "outbid" other states with a competitive offer.
The reason behind Maharashtra losing out on the deal might have been that Gujarat offered a more profitable proposition to the company with regard to land-related incentives, The Indian Express reported, quoting sources.

Did the Centre Play a Role in the Project Going to Gujarat?
The Opposition in Maharashtra, however, has said that Shinde bowed before Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Gujarat this year, and getting the deal would bode well for the electoral chances of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state government.
During the MoU-signing ceremony, Vedanta's chairman also thanked the Union IT minister for helping the company "tie things up so quickly," indicating a role played by the Centre in this regard.
Congratulating the Gujarat government, PM Modi said, "This MoU is an important step accelerating India’s semiconductor manufacturing ambitions."
He further added, "The investment of Rs 1.54 lakh crore will create a significant impact to boost economy and jobs. This will also create a huge ecosystem for ancillary industries and help our MSMEs."
Meanwhile, the Shinde government claimed that the reason behind Maharashtra losing out on the lucrative deal was that the the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance did not provide adequate incentives to Vedanta-Foxconn, leading to them choosing the neighboring state to the west.
