#the Fëanorians as a whole are cute with names

While the primary view of Maedhros fathername seems to be that it's a dig at Fingolfin, this ignores how the succession is very much not in question until the Valar get involved to banish the heir and the current king goes with him into exile (not to mention that it's exactly this position of Fëanor's which motivates Fingolfin's side of the jealousy). It's not spite to name Maedhros after his legitimate place in the succession. What's more, I find it very likely that, like Fëanor, his fathername might have initially been simply Finwë-the same as Finwë and Fëanor's own fathername ere it was modified later, making "Finwë third" an explicit acknowledgment of the threadline between Finwë, Fëanor and Maedhros that often gets reserved for the Fëanor-Curufin-Celebrimbor triumvirate-and only later changed to Nelyafinwë. But regardless it's still primary a connection to Fëanor's initial fathername and Finwë's name and the commonality between them (the line of succession as well as, I dare say, love and respect).

okay, pumpkin pie, give me more hot takes! maglor, amarie, earwen, saeros, luthien, dior.
who? | only know their name | loathe | ugh | overrated | indifferent | dead | alive | just okay | cute | badass | my baby | hot | want to marry | favorite
Maglor: Alive. Badass. Hot.
Is there anything better than a poet who not only feels things deeply but is also a kick-ass warrior that can probably kill you with his pinkie? No.
Amarië: Indifferent.
I personally don't see the romanticism in waiting for someone who leaves you to go into exile especially when his own father turned back. I'm all for chasing dreams but there's also some things called compromise and priorities and commitments. She may have her reasons for waiting but I don't agree with them. So yeah, no, thank you.
Eärwen: Just okay.
I think she had a bigger role in Finarfin's decision to turn back. But we'll never know. It's the swan bit that rates her higher than indifferent. Swans are cool.
Saeros: Dead.
And that's all I cared to note about him.
Lúthien: (Here comes the unpopular opinion!) Overrated. Just okay. Badass.
I find the story of Beren and Lúthien more problematic than romantic. And my realistic self could never relate to Lúthien's choices. She reads more like a teenager in love than ages old half-Maia. Sure, she delivers on what she thinks she could do. And that's badass. But it's also plot-armour. So yeah, not for me.
Dior: Ugh. Dead.
I may dislike the whole line of Thingol tbh. Says a lot about my Fëanorian sympathies. But this dude is straight up an idiot. And something just irks me about being 'fairest of all Maia, Elves, and Men'. That comes off as arrogant and I'm sure it's not the writing but Dior himself. Beauty imo is subjective. So, no to Dior. He's dead and that's that.
