The more I learn about Herbert Hoover and FDR, the more interesting I find it that the former, by most accounts, seems to have been a fairly decent guy (if not well-suited for the presidency) who got slandered and villified because he was a private person who didn't publicize his good actions, and he was immediately followed by a guy who was glorified despite doing some horrible things because making use of the media was his superpower.

#presidential talk #history is awesome #and of course i started musing on how interesting it would be to use this as inspiration for fantasy #the evil heartless king is overthrown by the beloved caring monarch who reforms the kingdom #only it turns out the 'good' king is doing some supervillain stuff behind the scenes #and the bad king was not that bad #and then i realized that's basically andras and talfrin from the blackberry bushes
