Look I get that they're probably just more relevant to the Northern plot of the story but I just find it weird that Allyria is betrothed to a marcher lord and there's no mention of Ned being invited to the water gardens....also Ned being named after the man who KILLED Arthur.....there is so much anger at and within that family GRRM explain....

Arthur Dayne being mentioned positively by people from almost EVERY other kingdom in Westeros except Dorne, his homeland, where hes not even a ghost hes just non-existant in anyone's hearts or minds reminds me of these two Othello quotes

More evidence for the great Dayne shunning theory of 2022:
I reread the Arianne AFFC chapter and the only two people who mention Arthur Dayne in a positive light.....are Myrcella and Ser Arys, the only two non-dornish people present:
Myrcella
Ser Gerold went to one knee. The moonlight shone in his dark eyes as he studied the child coolly.
"There was an Arthur Dayne," Myrcella said. "He was a knight of the Kingsguard in the days of Mad King Aerys."
"He was the Sword of the Morning. He is dead."
"Are you the Sword of the Morning now?"
"No. Men call me Darkstar, and I am of the night."
Ser Arys
As she led the princess to the fire, Arianne found Ser Gerold behind her. "My House goes back ten thousand years, unto the dawn of days," he complained. "Why is it that my cousin is the only Dayne that anyone remembers?"
"He was a great knight," Ser Arys Oakheart put in.
"He had a great sword," Darkstar said
"And a great heart." Ser Arys took Arianne by the arm. "Princess, I beg a moment's word."

The Dayne shunning theory is my absolute favorite! Like yes!! Consequences for what happened to Elia and her kids!! Whether it’s fairly handed out or not, it’s satisfying to see. I particularly love it in rhaegar wins fics when Arthur is alive to experience it.
youve probably already read my Elia fic A Tigress not a woman but if you havent i think youll enjoy the Arthur bullying scenes in it because hes basically getting Dayne Shunning in my au
but yes i think theres something so natural about Doran managing to barely keep a hold on dorne after Elias death but the anger has to go somewhere so it all coalesces around the Daynes who can be punished unlike the Lannisters and Robert Baratheon and Rhaegar Targaryen. It's very unfair to Ned and Allyria (and possibly Ashara and Lord Dayne if they werent involved) but also super understandable to lash out at an easy accessible target.

Tbh it probably didn’t help that, while yes Ned killed Arthur, he was also one of the leaders of the rebellion against Elia’s children’s claims. Not to mention his sister was the one who Elia was snubbed for. Lord Dayne you had other options 😭.
No literally me and my friend discussed this yesterday! Like if Lord Dayne did name his son after Arthur's killer to disavow Arthur....it probs wouldn't have been seen in a correct light by the dornish?
Either they're thinking:
1. Wow ok so your brothers a traitor but you don't even have the guts to stand by him. Traitor x 2 zero loyalty in house dayne
2. Or they're misinterpreting it as Lord Dayne throwing his lot in with the Starks which just confirms that the Daynes are traitors in their mind which is so sjelqbflahdslasjs
