Random Question Time
#gbunny polls#animal crossing#animal crossing new horizons#acnh#sheep#maybe it's the nostalgia talking#but i think i prefer the scarves#it made them really unique among all the other species#i do think it's a little funny how they're now being *SQUEEZED* into their clothes#but i find the classic design more charming#i was thinking about this the other day#but beyond the sterilization of the characters and the drifting away from the social sim aspects#i think what new horizons is missing most#is a sense of whimsy#most of the furniture sets are practical#and the couple that aren't generally stick to a 'nature' theme so they're not *that* whimsical in the context of the island based setting#(looking at the new mush set and frozen set)#we don't have beds that look like giant cakes#or sofas that look like robots anymore#you don't see UFOs or fountain gods/goddesses#there's not a random chance to stumble into the underground or find a weird pattern on a tree stump#you can't even find 4-leaf clovers#it's not bad. it's just different and i prefer the old way.

Best Books Read in February 2023
A recap of the best books I read each month of 2023
An Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak
I read this because my sister loved it and she's got good taste! This is a book from the perspective of a fig tree about a family over the course of a few decades. It's a multigenerational novel about generational trauma, yet it feels quite mystical. It's emotionally heavy but really beautiful.
Monster by Walter Dean Myers
I was assigned this book for class and I'm glad because I wouldn't have read this on my own. It follows a Black teenage boy who was arrested for a murder and is imagining his trial as a movie. I highly recommend it, very emotional and harrowing.
Honorable mentions:
Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust
A story inspired by Sleeping Beauty and a Persian myth, where the princess is also a monster, so to speak. I'm excited to reread this.
Lost in the Moment and Found Again by Seanan McGuire
Another fascinating installment in The Wayward Children series, proving why this is one of the few series I continue to follow.

LMAOOOO no fr everyone kept saying "watch out for pickpockets !!!!!!!!!!" had me so nervous ...... not a single person approached me 💀
#and i was in both the main parts of the cities and the suburbs#if that's what they're even called#tbh the grossest part i was in was venice#like the central part and neighbouring islands were fine but as soon as you start walking away from the canal... whew#the further you get the worse it is 🤢 quite honestly don't understand the hype this city gets#unbelievably overrated.. and that's coming from a girlie who loves waterfront cities!#i live in montreal and love the old port! always been obsessed with halifax!#but my goodness the east coast here feels CLEAN compared to venice...#it smelled AWFUL and some areas in the city felt very third worldly...#like how was it reminding me of both montreal and the country i was born in at the same time?? 💀#lmao anyway#i wish i lived near the mediterranean sea... that's where i belong... that's home 💔#i'm such a water girlie but i also love the mountains (don't make me choose) so i can't even complain 😩#canada is gorgeous and humongous and we have everything here and there's still so much to discover#still intending on visiting every nhl city !! i'm at 4/7 canadian teams (not counting ex-teams & layovers lol)#not counting arenas either i've only done 2 and i was right by the arena in vancouver but never seen the toronto one#as for american teams... lol. only two 🤠#lowkey jealous of the states sometimes cause y'all could just road trip anywhere and see so many places at once#imagine if i tried to road trip from here to winnipeg. lol. there wouldn't be much to see on the way 🤣#ugh i already miss travelling i can't get enough#i need to explore more of asia though honestly#like south east asia especially 😩😩 indonesia... thailand...#i need trees. ok i need all of water mountains AND trees. #despite how hard the graveyard shift can be vis a vis sleep/etc#I really love being by the ocean every day#when cat & I were working at that warehouse lab building test strips#it was just: go inside box with fluorescent lights and leave with a massive migraine#I’d walk after work to the bay or the park cause I needed trees and the ocean lol#so now sometimes here I’ll just stand and look out at the ocean and it’s a really nice place for my mind to be able to go#I want to visit one of the nearby islands once it’s warmer#I like that I can see them in the distance I miss the island I grew up on 24/7
