no but why is netflix allergic to letting queer women just be central in shows? unless it’s sideshow rep or solely for the male gaze it can’t slide apparently! like i loved the wlw rep in heartstopper (i love alice oseman in general) but WHAT is so wrong with letting queer women have the focus in stories?? plus whenever a wlw show has actually made it past the first season, the rep is NEVER intersectional bc disabled queer women and queer women of colour don’t exist i guess. i’m not shocked bc there’s literally zero disabled rep in heteronormative media anyway (let alone disabled rep that centralises a disabled character) but yknow. would be cool to even have 1 season with a sapphic disabled mc lol. i was starting to have hope for rep for sapphic poc but now with first kill (where the main character is a black lesbian) getting cancelled by netflix after 1 season despite statistically doing as well with viewers as heartstopper i’m just. i’m so disheartened. it’s so blatantly obvious that streaming services give zero shits about sapphic rep — they don’t want their sapphic shows to do well (which is so so rooted in misogyny and patriarchal bullshit) and they’re so bitter when viewers DO go crazy for sapphic main characters that they say fuck it and cancel the show altogether.
