As The Sun Sets Pt.2

Member(s): Youngjae X Reader ft.Jinyoung, Jaebum & Jackson Genre: Angst Words: 2092 Plot: Youngjae comes running back to you to make things up and rebuild your relationship before things are too late. However, he comes to find out you’ve moved on before he could even have the chance to explain. When he attempts to seek you out for privacy to give an explanation, it comes too late for the both of you.

There was a knock at the door making me break apart from Jinyoung. Quickly opening the door, Youngjae stood there pale as ever, in front of me, with his hands behind his back.

"What are you doing here, Youngjae?" I questioned raising my brows as it was something unexpected. My mouth began to open again to speak, but it slowly closed when I noticed the shadow casted behind him. A bouqet of flowers was what he was holding from behind. "..Let's not do this." I sighed, looking back up at him, however, it doesn’t make him step back any further. "Please? There’s some-" "Don't come back begging me... Why?" I asked cutting him off.

When he didn’t answer, I hesitated to let him in or not. "Wh-why don't you come inside.” Youngjae’s eyes lit up and smiled kindly. “I mean, you came all the way here. I don’t want to make you leave suddenly.” I added making an excuse for my soft-hearted self.

I led him into the living room and sat him down as he gave me the bouqet. “Thank you... I’ll uh set it here and place them in a vase later on.” I simply said giving a warm smile.

"Babe, what took you so lon-" Jinyoung comes running out of my room in his shorts, half naked and soon stops his tracks when he notices Youngjae. “Oh, hi." Jinyoung warmly greets bringing his hand out to shake it with Youngjae’s "Hi." Youngjae replies a bit coldly refusing to offer Jinyoung his hand.

I bit my lip feeling awkward in the moment between us three. "Uh look, why don't you just sit here and I'll go get you a drink. Hm? Warm water?" I asked, fixing the couch. "Ginger tea," Youngjae responded. I examined him, confused why all of a sudden but remembered that he sometimes preffered this over water. "..if you wouldn't mind." He continued. "Ah, right.” I mumbled quietly turning around.

I walked to the kitchen and behind me followed Jinyoung. "Hun, why don't-" I turned around and paused, realizing I was leveled with Jinyoung's bare chest. I grabbed his arms and pushes him away. "Go get dress, will you?" I whispered up to him with a bright smile.

He smiles and brings a hand to fix my messy hair. "Sure," Jinyoung pecks my lips before giving me a long warm hug. I turned back around, as he leaves and grabs a cup and a pot before slicing pieces of ginger into the pot full with water. I threw in a bit of rosemary to add into the smell.

Walking out of the kitchen, Youngjae who was quick to get up when he saw me. I just gave him a caring look and a small smile, before walking passed him. "Jinyoung!" I shouted, calling for him. "Yes, my idiot." He comes out from behind the closet door and cups my face instantly before kissing my forehead another peck.

"Are you leaving soon?" I asked, as he pulls me close to him. He nods, "I got work in an hour." "Stay with me a bit." I insisted with a simple pout before giving him a sly smile. "Hm?"

He smiles and sighs before unlocking eyes with me in sheer embarrassment. "I can't." He answers. "You know that."

“Ugh, I know.” I rolled my eyes and simply give another pout before rubbing his arms. "Hey, come here." Jinyoung lifts my chin up, and gives me a long lasting kiss."Mm! The tea," I quickly pushed him away and ran out to check up on the drink.

Pouring the drink into a cup, I began to walk out of the kitchen."Here, Youngjae-" I almost ended up spilling the tea all over myself when he suddenly got up coughing crazily and left.

"Youngjae!" I shouted after him, forgetting about the lingering burn on my skin. What the heck just happened? I ran outside after him, but Jinyoung stopped me. "Y/N, don’t go. It's better to leave him alone," A panic ran over my head, "What are you talking about? He just-"

"Looking at it, he doesn't seem to be in the best condition. Just let him be, it's not your place to care right now." Jinyoung says again rubbing my arms, but worries kept on rushing over my head. "But shouldn't we-" "No, it's not your concern." Jinyoung says boldly. "Come on, go back inside the apartment and clean off that burn. I will be back after my shift, okay?"

I nodded slowly, knowing he was right. I shouldn't be concerned about him, it's not my position to. Quietly, I walked back inside as Jinyoung leaves for work and shut the door before going back to clean the mess.

Later that night, I got a weird text from Youngjae.

Fr: Choi Youngjae Do you.. have time to talk? Can't you meet me up at the roof where we would always go?

I read it and turned my head looking at Jinyoung who was asleep beside me.

...Right now? It's late, how about tomorrow morning?

I couldn't even put my phone down when Youngjae was quick to reply. No.

I... can't. Will you just come out for a bit?

I promise, it won't take long. He adds.

I reread the message, thinking to myself what I should do. I just couldn't bring myself to answer him and meet him. Jinyoung's voice rang through my head: "It's better to let him go." "Just let him be, it's not your place to care."

Taking a deep sigh, I typed. I can't right now, Youngjae. It's late, go to sleep. I placed my phone back on my small desk and shifted my position on the bed to face Jinyoung, who was sound asleep. I tried my best to smile as I soothe my hands over his dark hair. Combing it, I gave a soft chuckle at his facial expression.

My phone ringed again with a notification that Youngjae had texted me, but I didn't dare to turn and check. I continued massaging Jinyoung's ear, knowing that he likes the feeling of it. The man snuggled with a soft groan and I smiled before going to sleep.

I woke up the next morning with my phone ringing nonstop. Calls after calls, rings after rings, and notifications after another. Groaning, I rubbed my eyes while stretching. "Jeez! Pick up your phone will you.." Jinyoung groans, throwing the covers over his head.

I turned to my side and grabbed it, picking up the call instantly. "What is it? Gosh, it's so early, why the hell are you bothering me now, Jaebum?" "You need to come now." He answers boldly in demand.

"When are you guys going to stop bothering me? And come where?" I yawned still rubbing my eyes.

"Youngjae's apartment. His roof." Jaebum answers in short.

"His roof?!” I shot up from the bed. “Wh-what do you mean his roof?!" I quickly got up from my bed yanking the sheets off of me and ran to my closet picking up the outfit I can find.

"I'll explain later, it's urgent." He ended the call shortly and I panicked. Things ran through my head, and I couldn't focus on putting my clothes on. Hesitatingly, I scrolled down to all the messages that people had sent to me this morning about Youngjae or so.

Fr: Choi Youngjae I just want to explain everything, so please come out. I don't have much time..

My heart sank. Much time... What the hell does he mean!?

Tears swelled my eyes, as I grew more concerned. I swear, if this is all a prank planned by Youngjae I am going to kill them all.

"Where are you going?" Jinyoung asks getting up. "I have an urgency, I have to go.” I quickly answered throwing on my sweater. “Call you later when your shift ends?" I said rushing out of my bedroom door and out my apartment.

I arrived no later than 10 minutes, and raced up the 10 story building to the roof. Right as soon as I opened the door,police officers were there.. pens and notes being written on their notepads. Yellow prohibited lines were drawn and placed on the scene. Reporters with mics and cameras were all huddled in an area trying to get a tape of something. A helicopter floating above us all with nurses and doctors inside. My eyes shifted to where Jaebum stood. I ran to them in panic and rush. "What's going on." I demaned for an answer. "Answer me!" I screamed, getting more furious when Jaebum couldn’t look at me in the eyes.

Jackson helped pried me off of Jaebum and told me to calm down. "Look over there." He told me and for some reason, I didn't want to. I knew it was going to be a horrible idea, but the other half of me knew that I needed to. I needed to know.

There. Youngjae on the floor, looking as frozen as ever. Cold as ice, lips sealed blue... "No." I gasped, trying to get Jaebum's hold off me. "Youngjae!" I screamed in horror and shouted in tears.

"No, you can't!" He warned, but I couldn't stop yelling and screaming for Youngjae to come back. "No, no no! This is all lies!" I shouted repeatedly not wanting to hear anymore of those helicopter noises, nor those cameras flashing or those officers talking about the incident.

"Tell me this isn't true." I begged looking vulnerably at the guys.

"He's gone, Y/N. He's gone... we can't do anything." Jaebum says, patting my back. I refused to believe. "No, he's not."

"He's not coming back, Y/N." Jaebum says again, calmly. I continued sobbing into Jaebum's arms not wanting to accept the truth. "He-" Jaebum hesitated choking back a tear. "He wanted to tell you, but he didn't know how to express himself."

I sniffed and wiped my nose, looking at Youngjae's distant body being lifted and carried into the helicopter. "He's been sick Y/N... for quite a while now... those nights that he left? He was up on this roof, thinking how he could be able to spend time with you. But.. he took those times thinking for granted and you eventualy... left."

"No no no, stop. Stop it." I whined in tears. “I dont want to her it anyore.”

"Youngjae-... he came yesterday wanting to explain, wanting you to understand and listen, wanting another chance.. just before he visited he had an appointment. The doctor said he only had 3 weeks left due to the growth of his disease.. and he told me he wanted to be able to spend those 3 weeks with you... He wanted exactly 3 weeks with you if possible."

"This is all lies, tell me that!” I shouted ripping his hands away from me.

"I guess it didn't turn out well when I dropped him off yesterday. He called me to pick him up here late last night, but I missed the call.. only receiving it this morning. Y/N, he wanted to explain, he just didn't even know how to accept it himself." Jaebum comtinued to explain looking at me with pity in his eyes.

And that's when everything started making more sense... why he kept leaving... why he couldn't tell me... why he left coughing out blood that was stained on his shirt.. why he wanted to meet last night...

I let out a breathe of air and collapsed onto the floor. I still sat on the ground after hours when everyone left. Jaebum stayed by my side for a while in comfort after everyone left, but he soon left me too.

I fisted my hand in anger of my own self and in resentment. If I could go back time...

"Y/N." I heard a voice calling my name. I looked up, seeing that the sky had dropped. The sun had already setted, and it was leaving me. The sky was turning darker within ever moment and what shined above me was the glistening moon. "Y/N." My head turned to find the where the voice was coming from, but no one was there.

"Y/N... I'm here." It was Youngjae's voice...

No, I'm hallucinating. "Y/N, what are you doing here?" The voice was Jinyoung...

With disappointment, I looked back at my own frozen hands and breathing for the last time, I let out a breath. "Youngjae..."
