Training Challenge #1: Welcome to Thisby!

Introduce your rider. Are they from Thisby, the mainland, or farther abroad? Why are they racing?

Training Challenge #2: “She’s moody and she’s slippery and she’s in love with the sea.”

Describe your capall uisce. What challenges does your rider face with this one?

Describe, create, photograph, or draw an outfit you would wear while touring, working, or riding about Thisby.

Create a capall! Use one of the provided templates, or draw or edit your own.

Creative Challenge #5: November Cakes

Thisby is full of wonderful food—November cakes, cinnamon twists, apple cakes and chainsaw, and tea! Make something Thisby-inspired and share.

Creative Challenge #6: Moodboards

Make a moodboard inspired by the book or your character.

Rising up to my full height and holding the hot, salty blood in my mouth, I take the final few steps up to the top of the rock. And then I turn, even as the woman reaches for my hand to slice my finger, and I spit that mouthful of blood onto the red-spattered stone below with as much force as I can muster.

Creative Challenge 3: Mainland Radio: I revamped an old playlist since racing season is upon us! The Scorpio Races community on tumblr is the least problematic, most welcoming group of people I’ve met on this forsaken website so this year I’m planning on being 100% active for the festival.

Greetings. I read the book last summer. I just re-read it. My body is ready to join the fandom in full mode and this looked like a good place to start. Any advice? Do new members get a welcome November cake or do we race for it? :D

Welcome, welcome! I'm enormously pleased Thisby has got its hooks in you! Since it's summer and the call of the November sea is distant, we're rather docile at the moment, so we won't eat you, only interrogate you. Who is your favorite character? Would you ride in the races? Would you rather live on Thisby or visit? When did you know the book had stolen your heart? :)Come October, we rise from the sea in full force. I also moderate The Scorpio Races Festival (@thescorpioracesfestival), which has different creative challenges, including taking a character you create through different race events. In the meantime, check out the map of Thisby, which has a bunch of tags, FAQs, and resources. I don't know how to link to it on mobile, but you can access it through a browser by adding /map to my url. There are some other fan blogs that are also active right now like @applecakeandchainsaw and @bottleofvinegar, as well as people like @notpuckconnolly and @skatzaa who post a lot of TSR-related things. I know I'm forgetting people and I hate to leave anyone out, so I hope they see this and can introduce themselves!Again, welcome to our shores!
